  • Age doesn’t always bring wisdom

    p1000251_t600

    Nucsnipe sent us this article about some geezers who watched too many Mission Impossible TV shows in their long-past youth;

    Five protesters were arrested Monday after cutting through a security fence to enter Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor and through a double fence to reach Strategic Weapons Facility – Pacific, which stores and handles the nuclear missiles loaded on Trident subs at the base.

    Arrested on suspicion of trespass and destruction of government property were Bill Bischel, 81, a Catholic priest from Tacoma; Anne Montgomery, 83, a nun from New York; Susan Crane, 65, of Baltimore; Lynne Greenwald, 60, of Bremerton; and Steve Kelly, 60, of Oakland, Calif.

    The Navy reports;

    …the anti-war group entered the base at 6:30 a.m. An alarm went off when they cut the inside fence, and they were “apprehended in accordance with standing security procedures for incidents of this nature,”

    I wonder if they think they’re lucky they weren’t ventilated on the spot. Probably they never gave it a thought because that’s why the little chickenshits did it in the first place – they know that the military will protect them from their own stupidity. I’d like to see them try it Iran or Venezuela.

  • Michael Moore’s financial planning tips

    TSO sent me a Michael Moore email. I never write about Michael Moore because Moore is the biggest hypocrite on the face of the planet, but I thought his financial tips were instructive – the things Moore says you should do but actually, the the things you shouldn’t do to get through this financial mess;

    1. Take your money out of your bank if it took bailout money and place it in a locally-owned bank or, preferably, a credit union.

    99 banks have failed in the last two years, so Moore says you should put your money in a smaller bank – one that more likely to fail.

    2. Get rid of all your credit cards but one — the kind where you have to pay up at the end of the month or you lose your card.

    Thus defeating the whole concept of having a credit card. How about taking responsibility for your debts and only borrowing as much as you can afford to repay?

    3. Do not invest in the stock market. If you have any extra cash, put it away in a savings account or, if you can, pay down on your mortgage so you can own your home as soon as possible. You can also buy very safe government savings bonds or T-bills. Or just buy your mother some flowers.

    Yes, that makes complete sense – don’t buy into the stock market while stock prices are low – buy when stock values are higher. That way Michael Moore can continue to buy lower priced shares. Those Savings bonds might keep up with the rate of inflation – but you have to pay taxes on the growth, so you actually lose money. Those “safe” T-bills lost a lot of their value last year, too.

    I’ve made back most of the money I lost in the last year (over $80,000) because I had an investment plan that I maintained through the downturn despite my urges to sell and run.

    4. Unionize your workplace so that you and your coworkers have a say in how your business is run.

    Because even though you haven’t ever run a business, you know how to do it better than people who have run a business.

    Listen to everything Moore says and then do the opposite and we’ll all make it through.

  • Obama wins peace prize for being not-Bush

    So the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded Obama the Peace Prize for 2009. Their reasoning according to the Washington Times is;

    …for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” the Norwegian Nobel Committee said. “Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said. “His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”

    In other words,”Obama is not George Bush”. He hasn’t actually accomplished anything, but he campaigns well. So much for any bit of credibility the prize might have had after awarding it to Yassir Arafat or Al Gore. I guess this is the committee weighing in on troops increases in Afghanistan.

    I’ll bet Bill Clinton is angier than anyone else on the planet about this though. Clinton actually campaigned for the medal. Like everything else, Barack Obama has won it for doing nothing more than talking.

    What could make this even more stupid? Nominations for the prize closed in February. Theodore Roosevelt was awarded the prize because he brokered peace between Russia and Japan. Woodrow Wilson was awarded the prize because he established the League of Nations. Barack Obama wins because he had an Inauguration.

  • Spanish senate files case against US/UK leaders

    I guess the Spanish Senate doesn’t think they have to deal with in their own country, they’ve decided they’re the standard of civility in the world and they’re trying to impose their will on the US and the UK;

    MADRID: Today the Spanish Senate, acting to confirm a decision already taken under pressure from powerful governments accused of grave crimes, will limit Spain’s laws of universal jurisdiction. Yesterday, ahead of the change of law, a legal case was filed at the Audiencia Nacional against four United States presidents and four United Kingdom prime ministers for commissioning, condoning and/or perpetuating multiple war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Iraq.

    This case, naming George H W Bush, William J Clinton, George W Bush, Barack H Obama, Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Anthony Blair and Gordon Brown, is brought by Iraqis and others who stand in solidarity with the Iraqi people and in defence of their rights and international law.

    Unfortunately, the only links I can find to the story all track back to the same article. I can’t find it on the Spanish Senate rather sparse agenda. Either way it’s a totally ignorant thing for an impotent country like Spain. I guess they don’t remember the fate of the Spanish Armada (the last time they looked over their gun barrels at the Brits), the Spanish-American War (when we were a third world country). Mostly they forget that the last time they surrendered to Islamic wishes, they were occupied for half-a-millennium.

  • DC Recruiting Office vandalized

    Some brave members of the far Left attacked an empty recruiting office in downtown DC last night according to ABC 7News;

    Vandals splattered the windows of a military recruiting office in Washington with red paint.

    The vandalism was discovered Wednesday morning. Workers said they expected cleanup to take several hours.

    The office is at 14th and L streets.

    That particular office is hit fairly frequently because shiftless hippies can find it easily. At least this time there were no recruiters for them to bully.

    I hope you taxpayers enjoy paying for cleaning up the juvenile mess.

    Video from local Fox5 station;

    Michelle Malkin warned us on Monday.

  • Felon to run prison

    Bohica22 sends us a link from Montana about a town that was so eager to get their $27 million jail operating that they hired the first clown that applied for the job. Not surprisingly, they hired a crook who might be a phony vet;

    So when Hilton came to town last week — wearing a military-style uniform and offering three Mercedes SUVs for use by local law enforcement — he was greeted with hugs by some grateful residents. The promise of more than 200 new jobs for a community struggling long before the recession hit had won them over.

    But public documents and interviews with Hilton’s associates and legal adversaries offer a different picture, that of a convicted felon with a number of aliases, a string of legal judgments against him, two bankruptcies and a decades-long reputation for deals gone bad.

    It sounds like a thousand westerns I’ve seen with a bit of “The Music Man” tossed in to the script. There’s no way this could go wrong – who knows how to run a prison better than a felon?

    Hilton, 55, uses the title “captain” when introducing himself and on his business cards. But he acknowledged it was not a military rank.

    He said he is naturalized U.S. citizen and native of Montenegro. Aliases for Hilton that appear in court documents include Miodrag Dokovich, Michael Hamilton, Hristian Djokich and Michael Djokovich.

    That’s funny, I use the title “superman” when introducing myself, but I don’t want people to think that I can leap tall buildings in a single bound.

    Beginning in 1993, Hilton spent six years in prison in California on a dozen counts of grand theft and other charges including illegal diversion of construction funds.

    And they’re still considering letting him run their prison. Nothing could wrong with that.

  • That “domestic intervention” hooey

    NewsMax contributor, John L. Perry has finally succumbed to the mental disorder that seems to infect everyone over there. He writes today that “Obama risks a domestic military intervention“;

    America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it.

    Actually, the absence of a military coup is the only thing that keeps us out of the “Third World” category, Johnny. So what makes the possibility of a coup so real? According to Perry, the number one reason is the fact that military officers don’t swear in their oath to obey the President. He forgets that they do, however, swear an oath to the Constitution – and that part of the oath would kind of preclude a coup.

    I wish the REAL Wingnuts would step back and take a look at what they’re writing before they hit “Send”. Their cases of violent, explosive intellectual diarrhea splashes on the rest of us once in a while.

    But, I’ll bet that Stuart Rhodes has the article taped above his bed and he’s mercilessly pounding his junk at this moment.

    Ooops, I guess NewsMax discovered that their article was over the top, too – they just removed it while I was looking at it (that’s why I usually screen capture that stuff). Oh well, I’m not wasting a good rant.

    Our buddy, Cassandra, at Villainous Company has a few choice words about Perry.

  • James Branum; dolt

    We’ve written a bit about the “GI Rights Lawyer” and waah-bulance-chaser, James Branum. It’s satisfying to watch him descend into complete idiocy while he pretends to a successful attorney and gets his clients incarcerated. Now, he’s dragging more lawyers into his cocoon of lunacy.

    His client, Travis Bishop is Branum’s most recent contribution to prison overcrowding and he’s been sent to the Northwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility at Fort Lewis, Washington. And because Branum is one broke-ass lawyer (I could tell you stories about how poor he is, if I hadn’t promised someone else to keep it quiet for now), he can’t afford to visit his client half-way across the country, so he has designated LeGrand Jones, attorney to anarchists and socialists in Washington State and member of the National Lawyers Guild, to visit Bishop. Surprise! Jones is on a “watch list” and not allowed in the facility.

    So instead of just finding someone who doesn’t cavort with anarchist and socialist terrorists, Branum just whines to TSO’s favorite journalist, Dahr Jamail. So, of course, tossing arouond words like “prisoner of conscience” and “constitutional rights”, the Jamail-Branum Clown Car Cabal sound more like LeGrand Jones’ clientele than the educated professionals they profess to be;

    Branum told Truthout, “Fort Lewis authorities have a duty to tell LeGrande the reasons why he is being barred from Fort Lewis, and therefore [barred] from communicating with his client in the Fort Lewis brig.”

    A “duty”? Show me where. Numbskull. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bishop himself refused to talk to any more of the incompetent boobs from the NLG.

    Remember how Branum tried to change Army policy by charging that Bishop didn’t get “conscientious objector training” from his command? Well, now he wants to change rehab policy at the regional facility;

    “By participating in work programs and school classes, soldiers being held in brigs can get time cut off their sentences,” Branum explained to Truthout, “But these don’t exist at Fort Lewis, so that means Travis and Leo can’t get time taken off their sentences. Travis will do a minimum of 10 months, and could have theoretically worked an additional month off his sentence if Fort Lewis had these programs.”

    They could have gotten time off their sentences if they’d had a different lawyer.

    One good thing that comes out of this article is the truth about the “Under the Hood” and “Army Strong” cafes in Fort Hood and Fort Lewis, respectively. They used to be called “gathering places” for soldiers to talk about their problems with other GIs. however, in this article, the label applied to them changes;

    Both soldiers are being supported by two GI resistance cafes: Under the Hood cafe (in Killeen, Texas, near Fort Hood) and Coffee Strong (in Tacoma, Washington, near Fort Lewis).

    They finally decided to call them “resistance cafes” and be truthful about their purpose rather than hide behind benign labels. Anyone want to defend them now?
