  • Is it any wonder that Egypt wants to keep Hamas sealed up?

    This seems like the weirdest continuing thing going yet. After the split between the Fatah and Hamas, the Fatah is all but forgotten compared to Hamas. Not only that but the continued stories in the Gaza and all the support for the Hamas at home and overseas.

    Yet the Egypt has closed off border again after a firefight with Hamas that left one Egyptian solider dead. The reason for the shooting was interesting to say the least.

    At some point, Hamas police fired shots to disperse the crowd and shots were also heard from the Egyptian side of the border. It was not clear who fired first.

    But that did not stop the attempt to open the border.

    Hamas is trying to rally Arab and Muslim public opinion against the barrier it has dubbed the “death wall.” Hamas-allied Muslim clerics have denounced the wall as “haram,” or forbidden by Islam, and protesters picketed Egyptian embassies in Lebanon and Jordan this week.

    Really? We are now getting lectures about how Muslims should act from a group that has regularly used suicide bombers and attacks civilian targets?

    Also there was a protest in Cairo over not having a open border with Gaza where some of the protesters got roughed up. But considering the shootings today that this quote seemed very ironic.

    The Gaza Freedom March represents people from 43 countries with a diversity of backgrounds. They include peoples of all faiths, community leaders, peace activists, doctors, artists, students, politicians, authors and many others. They share a commitment to nonviolence and a determination to break the siege of Gaza.

    Yep and we have seen just how well that worked today. I still believe that Hamas is causing the majority of all the problems that people face in the Gaza strip. With several groups willing to all but bend backwards to support Hamas, this terror group will have no reason not to continue their activities at the expense of the local population in and outside of Gaza.

  • Slovakia Travel Warning

    WARNING WARNING WARNING

    Slovakian airport security is so boneheaded incompetent lax that they actually put explosives in your luggage.

    “Following contact … from the Slovakian authorities with the Airport Police at Dublin Airport, members of the Garda Síochána (Irish National Police) have recovered a small quantity of explosive material from the luggage of a passenger who had flown into Dublin from that country on Saturday last,” a statement from the Department of Justice said.

    Okay, so it only took them four days, but the stuff was recovered.  Nevermind that it was enough to bring down the plane.  But, no harm done.  The Times of London has a slightly different story.

    They immediately raided the man’s flat in an apartment block in central Dublin, the area was sealed off and residents and businesses were evacuated. The Slovak, who was still unaware of what was hidden in his luggage, was arrested and charged under the anti-terrorist Offences Against the State Act. The electrician’s own Government was eventually able to persuade the Irish authorities that his protestations of innocence were genuine.

    Well thank God Slovakian Diplomats are more effective than Slovakian Airport Security.  The Times piece also has this gem:

    Eight pieces of contraband were planted … in the baggage of innocent passengers … Seven were detected, but the eighth — 90 grams (3oz) of the plastic explosive RDX hidden among the Slovak’s personal effects — was not.

    Well, I guess seven out of eight ain’t bad. What’s a little terrorist activity between friends right?

  • Fox rolls wrong tape, Left has coniption fits

    In a control room SNAFU, during a segment of Fox News Channel’s “Happening Now”, the wrong tape was shown to the audience according to the Chicago Tribune;

    Today, FOX News host Gregg Jarrett was talking about Republican Sarah Palin’s book tour and the crowd she is drawing at the start of it – no small turnout, with some 1,500 people lining up early this morning for a chance to get into this evening’s premier book-signing for Going Rogue in Grand Rapids.

    “Sarah Palin continuing to draw huge crowds while she’s promoting her brand new book,” FOX’s Jarrett told his viewers. “Take a look at — these are some of the pictures just coming into us… The lines earlier had formed this morning.”

    But it turns out that Happening Now had pulled some video of something that happened last year: Displaying video today from Palin’s campaign for the vice presidency, on the ticket with the GOP’s Sen. John McCain – which also drew considerable crowds, as shown today in video of a smiling Palin before an adoring campaign crowd.

    Fox News has promised that it will discipline the people responsible, but that’s not enough for the Left.

    Predictably, the moonbats have berserk. John Amato at Crooks and Liars and HuffPo has filed a complaint with the FCC;

    FOX News is passing on “false information” to the public. This must end. They were busted by Jon Stewart of the Daily Show when Sean Hannity used the same technique to make it seem like a tea party rally was bigger than it actually was. And you know Hannity was told to apologize by “legal” over the “Hoax” he tried to get away with. Inadvertent footage doesn’t end up on a network show. That’s a bogus explanation. I think it’s time we started to take action and the first step is to file an FCC complaint report here. Please join me here and at CrooksandLiars.com to expose these “Hoaxes” by News Corp.

    The slobbering goons at Media Matters say the video was from a Nov. 1, 2008 event.

    Well, anyway, here’s the video they’re complaining about;

    Oh, wait, that’s not the video of the Fox show – it’s REAL media malfeasance, the kind that doesn’t provoke a reaction from Think Progress, Crooks and Liars, Huffington Post or Media Matters.

    I must have problems in my control room – heads are going to roll, I promise you. I hope no one reports me to the FCC.

  • Army seeking panelists with keen eye for the obvious

    The Washington Post reports this morning that the Army is forming a panel of experts to investigate Nidal Hasan’s career and to recommend ways to avoid the massacre at Fort Hood getting a repeat performance;

    “Casey is looking at a panel that will look longitudinally across Hasan’s entire career to figure out how did this happen and what can we do to stop it from happening again,” said the Army official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the announcement of such a group remains pending.

    Now, I’m not privy to any special information, but I’m pretty sure there are some missed signs here (unless emailing radical imams with the full knowledge of the FBI has a meaning I don’t understand) and I’m pretty sure that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to point out how the Army, and the Feds in general, could have avoided the 13 counts of premeditated murder.

    The Dallas Morning News reports that Hasan had approached his superiors about prosecuting some of his patients for war crimes;

    Fort Hood massacre suspect Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan sought to have some of his patients prosecuted for war crimes based on statements they made during psychiatric sessions with him, a captain who served on the base said Monday.

    I’m torn on that – while I agree that war crimes should be prosecuted, it’s disturbing that Hasan was willing to surrender his patients’ rights to do so. That will probably prevent a lot of patients from being honest with their counselors. The Dallas paper uses it as a excuse to be lenient with the thirteen-time murderer;

    The revelations add to a portrait of Hasan as a man at odds with many of those around him — emotionally, religiously and ideologically.

    I still stick to my original theory that Hasan was a malingerer who’ll use religion and PTSD as an excuse in his trial. I just know a malingerer when I see one.

    Claymore sent us a link to a Democratic Underground thread in which the DUmmies are more than willing to take away returning veterans’ guns until they prove themselves worthy of owning a gun. Of course, the strongest proponents of relieving veterans of their rights claim to be veterans themselves.

  • Standing against the lunatics

    Casey Porter sent me picture of the Westboro church crowd protesting outside of Fort Hood, Texas during the President’s speech but I won’t publish them because that’s what the little cretins want. I will, however publish the picture of the folks who opposed them;

    patriotporter

    For those of you who missed his comments, Casey says the Patriot Guard Riders and Denny’s employees wouldn’t let the Westboro ‘tards get back to their van (in Denny’s parking lot). Good times, good times.

  • Another PTSD cooties case?

    A gun man holding an assistant principle principal hostage in Pine Plains, New York has been arrested. Of course, the Fox News correspondent, Laura Ingle, points out that the 40 year old man who was disgruntled over “the government” had a son in the military. No links yet.

    Apparently, everyone has a built-in excuse to suffer from PTSD resulting in bad behavior from our war against terror as long as they have a relationship, no matter how tenuous, to a member of the military.

  • Strip Club mosque

    Fox News provides us with a contrasting view of the media’s portrayal of the devout Muslim Major Hasan;

    Jennifer Jenner, who works at Starz using the stage name Paige, said Hasan bought a lap dance from her two nights in a row. She said he paid $50 for a dance lasting three songs in one of the club’s private rooms on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.

    “I remembered his face because it was the first lap dance I [gave] to a customer while working here,” she said. “When I saw his face [Friday] on TV, I jumped out of bed, I knew it was him.”

    So he was a big, fat hypocrite walking around the 7-11 in his man-jammies playing the role in the daylight. Keep that in mind when his relatives and clergy spout off about what a peaceful man Hasan is, how he couldn’t have done such a thing. it looks like they didn’t know him. Oh, and the stripper must be lying.

  • Kristallnacht is coming!!!

    It’s almost a companion to the Ace Of Spades piece yesterday entitled “Now It Can Be Told: The Real Victims Of Ft. Hood Shooting Are American Muslims” in which DrewM recounts the posts from around the internet that warn us to not jump to conclusions about the Hasan massacre. Some navel gazer from the Left writes;

    Seventy-one years ago, almost to the very day, a member of a religious minority fatally shot a government official – an act by a troubled individual that was seized upon by hateful minds to set off an orgy of blood and destruction against his co-religionists.

    While the Ft. Hood shootings will not spark a rerun of Kristallnacht – the anti-semitic pogrom launched by the Nazis after 17-year-old Herschel Grynszpan shot German diplomat Ernst Vom Rath in Paris on Nov. 7, 1938, in retaliation for Nazi depradations against the Jews – the upswelling of racial, ethnic and religious hatred against Muslims and Arabs we will now see in many quarters will ring with ugly echoes.

    See, I don’t understand what he’s saying if he’s not warning of the coming of a second Kristallnacht – he says “the Ft. Hood shootings will not spark a rerun of Kristallnacht”, but then why did he bring it up and make the comparison? And why did a commenter echo that it was the first thing he thought of upon hearing of the shootings, too?

    Jon Soltz, in the meantime, takes the opportunity to use a three minute interview on Fox in which the Fox and Friends hosts asked questions of a guest to call Fox News racists.

    In fact, Huffington Post seems to be going out it’s way to avoid the discussion over Hasan’s religious affiliations. Kamran Pasha calls us the “Islamophobe internet community”, Wajahat Ali writes that;

    When Hasan’s Arabic name was revealed as the alleged shooter, the blogosphere and message boards lit up with the predictable assortment of anonymous bigoted bile vilifying Islam and questioning the loyalty of American Muslims.

    I didn’t see it, but then I was focused on sorting out my own feelings and thoughts before I typed anything. Although the authors at HuffPo are adamantly against jumping to conclusions about the cultural clues in this case, they however have no compunction about furthering the “nutty GI” caricature.

    Aaron Glantz, who I wrote about last night, chronicles nutty GIs to give the left some targets for their finger-pointing. Never mind that all of the guys he writes about were actually in the war and have a reason to be a little stressed out, unlike Major Hasan.

    Michelle Malkin rightly asks why we have to get the news that Hasan attended the same mosque as some of the 9-11 hijackers from British newspapers. The Washington Post prefers to tell the story that Hasan was a peaceful guy, persecuted by a white soldier who had just returned from Iraq. The only real evidence that Hasan was really persecuted at all.

    Typically, Hasan’s family blames the United States for his massacre;

    “He is a doctor and loves the U.S.,” Ismail Mustafa Hamad, 88, his grandfather, said to the Reuters news agency from his home in Al-Bireh. “America made him what he is. Whether he became angry or something else, I don’t know.”

    His cousin is of the same mind;

    “Nidal is a very stable minded person,” Mohammed Mohammed said. “Why would he kill? He was against violence.

    “His actions could have been in self defence – we don’t know. Maybe they angered him to the point of cornering him and he felt he had no option.”

    They angrily rejected suggestions that their cousin’s shooting spree had been motivated by a hatred for America or as an act of terrorism.

    And General George Casey is more worried about the Army’s diversity than admitting that Hasan was a crank according to DrewM.

    No, I don’t think that all Muslims are terrorists nor that we should rid ourselves of them. I made that clear the other day, but on the other hand, it disturbs me greatly that everyone is so willing to suspend the Muslim excuse and embrace the crazy GI excuse. I still think he’s just an immature little rich boy who was angry that he couldn’t get his way.

    But it’s more enchanting to imagine that the Right is going to take to the streets and smash the windows of Muslim businesses in a frenzy of irrational hatred.
