  • Yeah, this helps

    choi_wh1

    Vote Vet’s poster child for the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Dan Choi decided he could change military policy and the UCMJ today by chaining himself to the White House fence;

    In an act of civil disobedience, Lt. Dan Choi and Jim Pietrangelo have been arrested at the White House gates on Thursday while protesting the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

    Following a Human Rights Campaign rally for DADT repeal in Washington earlier today, Choi and Pietrangelo led about 100 protesters to the White House, where the two then proceeded to handcuff themselves to the gates.

    Yeah, Choi has been allowed to serve in his National Guard unit despite the fact that he’s violated the DADT policy countless times (including coming out on the Rachel Maddow Show last year). The final decision on how much longer he’ll remain in the service is pending. So now I think the military has a couple of reasons to boot his ass without DADT.

    Cue the Rosa Parks comparisons.

  • Crazy VFP truther guy on the street

    Did you know that our troops were in place to invade Afghanistan in August 2001? You didn’t? Did you know that BushCo needed Afghanistan for a pipeline transit route? One that they needed so badly that no one has started building it yet? You didn’t? Well that’s two factoids from the eight minutes of batshit insanity from this goober, Phil Restino, a representative of the Geezers for Sitting on Our Hands Post 136;

    And, if you don’t believe him, Phil has a CD and a fact sheet printed on authentic paper-like material to prove it. Still not convinced? What about the signs? You can’t deny the signs!

    I can hardly wait for this weekend.

  • Kokesh won’t quit (Updated)

    As I predicted, Adam Kokesh, IVAW diva, announced that, although he could only attract 16% of the delegates in new Mexico’s 3rd District GOP pre-primary race, he won’t quit;

    “Our campaign is energized, and we’re committed to winning the primary election,” Kokesh said in a news release. “We are a grassroots campaign, and over the next two and half months we will be calling on our many supporters to help us win this important election, and do our part to unseat the Luján-Pelosi-Reid Congress and stop the Obama agenda.”

    Typical Ron Paul tactic – ignore that fact that he’s unelectable and keep charging ahead with a useless campaign until the party is so fractured that the Democrat wins. Then he’ll claim that its the Party’s and the media’s fault because no would would crown him the candidate despite the wish of voters. Someone explain to me how Kokesh, who now has the support of one in seven voters, is going to turn that around in 10 weeks – he’s already been campaigning for a year, but a couple more weeks is all he needs.

    I wish someone would start a nationwide remedial math class for Paulians.

    Thanks to COB6 for the link.

    UPDATED: Below the jump is Kokesh’s latest campaign letter forwarded to us by a former IVAW member;

  • Glen Beck’s new hero

    See, this is why I dislike Glen Beck, for those of you who have asked me. Last night (yeah, I watch him) he announced his kinship with Eric Massa, the perv that the Democrats just booted from Congress;

    Rush Limbaugh vowed to make a “national story” out of Massa’s claims that Democrats orchestrated his downfall because he voted no on health care reform — adding that Massa is “going to have so much support from people.”

    Matt Drudge led his site for much of the day Monday with all-caps links to POLITICO’s coverage of Massa’s statements: “RAHM ‘WOULD SELL HIS OWN MOTHER,’ ‘SON OF THE DEVIL’S SPAWN.’”

    And Glenn Beck took to Twitter to announce that he’d have Massa on his show for “the full hour” Tuesday because “all Americans need to hear him.”

    It’s as if Beck and Limbaugh forgot that Massa was voting against the healthcare bill because it wasn’t “robust” enough. It didn’t include the single-payer option or the public option. So if Massa had his way, the healthcare bill would burden US citizens even more than it does in it’s present form.

    Beck’s 9-12 Project also supports Adam Kokesh, last I knew. All you have to do to get on Beck’s good side is mouth the words he wants to hear regardless of your underlying intentions.

  • Sean Penn At His Finest

    Sean Penn takes himself WAY too seriously. In what has unfortunately become quite typical in Hollywood, Sean Penn believes that his time as an actor gave him extensive experience and knowledge in world affairs. He also believes that it makes him above criticism. When Trey Parker and Matt Stone parodied him in Team America, he wrote them an angry letter that ended with “Fuck You“. In regards to his involvement in Haitian relief efforts, Penn believes that if you question his motives that you should die of rectal cancer. But the one thing that pisses Sean off the most is when you criticize his best friend in the whole wide world, Hugo Chavez. In fact Sean thinks so highly of Hugo, that he believes that you should go to jail if you call him a dictator.

    Sean Penn made that statement on Bill Maher’s show (anybody really surprised about that?). I’ve found the video on Youtube, but it is cut up. The first part is here and he starts talking about his BFF at about 7:20:

    Here is the second part where Penn picks up where he left off:

    Penn makes a big deal about how Chavez was “democratically elected”. Hitler also came to power through a democratic system in Germany. Nobody could get away justifying Hitler’s policies by saying “Well he was democratically elected, so you all need to shut up.” But Penn thinks this justifies all the crap that Chavez has pulled in Venezuela. Chavez has shut down opposition media outlets, aligned himself with Iran, supported the terrorist group FARC in Colombia, and even has gone after Golf in Venezuela. Not to mention he openly admires Fidel Castro and Che Guevara and we all know they established the worst dictatorship in the Western Hemisphere. After considering all of these things, how can anybody call Chavez anything BUT a dictator?

    If Penn thinks you should be in jail for stating the obvious, then he would be right at home in Venezuela or Cuba. But of course, just like the rest of his fellow Marxists in Hollywood, he will never abandon the comfort and security of America. Its a lot easier to talk the talk than walk the walk.

  • At VFP, the Crazy comes full circle

    It’s being reported on the fringe of the Left that Veterans For Peace (around here known as Geezers for Sitting on Our Hands) have brought their special brand of crazy full circle by demanding a new investigation into 9-11;

    Anti-war groups have long been regarded as deliberate gatekeepers to the 9/11 Truth (and anti-war) movement. But in 2009 VFP membership mushroomed with savvy new members who realized it wasn’t enough to protest the war if you didn’t protest the government lie that allowed it to happen. And most VFP members know the “Tonkin Resolution” was a deliberate lie – aka: “False Flag”.

    By 2008, an international team of scientists had published volumes of conclusive evidence for “explosive demolition” of the Twin Towers and WTC-7. This hard evidence and admissions by the 9/11 commission that they were “set up to fail” moved VFP members and leadership to pass a resolution to press for a new 9/11 investigation during their 2009 annual meeting.

    Here’s the kicker;

    Veterans draw on our personal experiences to raise public awareness of the true costs and consequences of militarism and war – and to seek peaceful, effective alternatives.

    As we’ve seen many times in our investigations of VFP members, most of them have only endured the difficulty and stress of a Basic trainee. Many have never seen combat, most have been booted out before their obligation ended for various malfeasance. So what “personal experiences” are they drawing from to question the 9-11 investigations? Their drug-induced hallucinations?

  • When truthers go wild

    A gunman by the name of John Patrick Bedell, 36, of Hollister, Calif. pulled out a hand gun last night at the Pentagon Metro Station in Virginia last night. Pentagon police returned fire and sent the little coward to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Good!

    The Washington Times reveals that Bedell was a 9/11 truther;

    Signs emerged that Bedell harbored ill feelings toward the government and the armed forces, and had questioned the circumstances behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

    In an Internet posting, a user by the name JPatrickBedell wrote that he was “determined to see that justice is served” in the death of Marine Col. James Sabow, who was found dead in the backyard of his California home in 1991. The death was ruled a suicide but the case has long been the source of theories of a cover up.

    The user named JPatrickBedell wrote the Sabow case was “a step toward establishing the truth of events such as the September 11 demolitions.”

    That same posting railed against the government’s enforcement of marijuana laws and included links to the author’s 2006 court case in Orange County, Calif., for cultivating marijuana and resisting a police officer. Court records available online show the date of birth on the case mentioned by the user JPatrickBedell matches that of the John Patrick Bedell suspected in the shooting.

    I’d never heard of this James Sabow, so I went looking and found some real nutty shit. Apparently, the story of James Sabow rolls a butt load of conspiracies into one, so the nutters have a single story to which they can point for all of their nutty stories. That “Salem-News” website is the same one that posts all of Gordon Duff’s nutter theories. Oddly enough, this particular article was written merely one day before the shooting at the Pentagon Metro Station.

    It seems to me that Bedell probably had help in that he was from California and certainly didn’t bring two 9mm pistols with him on a flight – someone had to give them to him here.

    Here’s the latest from this morning’s early press conference at about 6am, local time.

  • I’m Not On Welfare You Entitled Asshole

    The big controversy at Arizona State right now is the planned increase of tuition by about ten percent and a $1000 dollar “economic recovery surcharge” for students. Of course everybody is playing the blame game about the tuition hikes. As a result, some pretty ridiculous claims and demands are being made about the whole issue of tuition hikes and funding for colleges.  In this post, I want to discuss how many students feel entitled to a free higher education.

    More below the fold…
