  • Gordon Duff and reality; unacquainted entities

    Last time I checked, the 2008 election ended back in 2008, but Gordon Duff, the crazy old coot uncle of the internet veteran community, thinks “Time has come for John McCain to make some public disclosures.” I’d have thought that time would have been before the election, but I may be wrong. For absolutely no reason, Duff makes this proclamation;

    Most famous John McCain quote: “You know why Chelsea Clinton’s so ugly? Because her dad is Janet Reno.”

    Like so much blather I read from the Left these days, this quote seems to have no connection to McCain. The only cites I can find to this are from the Crooks and Liars, TPM, Think Progress crowd so I don’t know where they got this.

    Then Duff runs off a laundry list of questions he feels McCain should answer;

    1. Why did you have your service record and POW debriefing classified FOREVER?
    2. Did you provide military secrets to North Vietnam as stated by Colonel Edwin Hopper of Army Intelligence?
    3. Did you narrate 32 propaganda broadcasts for the North Vietnamese and give interviews to communist papers as is stated at www.mccainbetrayspows.com?
    4. Why have you kept your Presidential Pardon secret? Did you know that you are the only person serving in Congress with a Presidential pardon?
    5. Was Colonel Hopper accurate when he accused you of providing flight paths and altitude information to North Vietnamese gunners, to help them shoot down American planes?
    6. Are you aware that Colonel Ted Guy was in the process of preparing treason charges against you when you received your presidential pardon?
    7. Why did you work to end all POW inquires? Why are you referred to as the Manchurian Candidate by POW/MIA groups?

    John McCain has no authority to classify or declassify his records. Ever. Government classification of ANY document is under the authority of the President or his agents. In fact any President can change the classification of any document contrary to his predecessors.

    For questions 2 and 3 the answers are the same; read the Code of Conduct, and let’s see your proof, Duff.

    For number 4; If John McCain has secret pardon, how do you know about it? The only internet reference to John McCain and a presidential pardon are in reference to a pardon for dead boxer. 20 pages on Yahoo and I read them all. Of course the headline of the story begins “McCain Wants Pardon…” so that’s all Dugg needed tp read.

    Numbers 5 & 6 have the same answer – did they? You seem to have the answer, let’s see your evidence, Gordo.

    #7; You talk like you know something the rest of us don’t know. Let’s have it.

    Actually, Duff’s entire post comes from the Democrats’ Final Hour attempt at “swiftboating” McCain – more than likely, Dugg got his talking points from this PRWeb press release which mentions a “blanket pardon” of all POWs, I can’t find a cite for that pardon, though – and if there was indeed a “blanket pardon” no rational person could think that only McCain was affected.

    And even if McCain did give information to the Vietnamese, that’s covered in the Code of Conduct. I know Duff is a military expert with his 18 months in the Marines leaving as a PFC – the smartest PFC ever. But Section 6(g) of the Code of Conduct recognizes that military members aren’t supermen…or Gordon Duff, combat S-3 clerk Marine;

    g. The best way for a prisoner to keep faith with country, fellow prisoners and self is to provide the enemy with as little information as possible.

    “…as possible” being the operative phrase here.

    I wonder if Duff has a list of questions like that for John Kerry or Wesley Clark, or Ann Wright.

  • Mark Potok targets American Legion…again

    Potok was on Keith Olbermann’s failing TV show and in defending the Homeland Security Department’s report on right wing terrorist groups Potok calls the American Legion “a right wing group”. It comes at about 3:15 in this video;

    Potok goes on to equate the Hutarees with the Tea Party movement. He calls them “nutty groups” but I think the only nutty group are associated with SPLC if they truly think that the American Legion is a “right wing” group. I guess when you’re to Left of Mao, everyone is Right Wing.

    Thanks to TSO for the video. Just for TSO;

    Mark Potok the Swamp Monster

  • Those Westboro fags (contribution link added)

    I know a bunch of you have already read this story about Albert Snyder, the father of a Marine who lost his life in Iraq and this legal battle against the Westboro Baptist Church of Fred Phelps. I know you’ve read it because you’ve been sending me links.

    Mr. Snyder won his case against the Westboro fags but was overturned on appeal. Then he decided to appeal to the Supreme Court and the Fourth District Court, which ruled against him, ordered Mr. Snyder to pay the Westboro fags’s legal expenses related to the Supreme Court case filing – about 16 grand while the USSC has agreed to hear the case.

    I didn’t write about this before now because I’d heard that Blackfive was working behind the scenes to get the complete story.

    But, while I was waiting for Blackfive, some guy named MOTHAX at The American Legion’s Burn Pit got into the fray this morning and convinced the Legion’s powers to help Mr. Snyder pay those unjust expenses.

    Stay tuned for a link to the fund.

    ADDED: Here’s the link for contributions.

  • Militia Raids by Feds in three states

    Fox News reports that the FBI raided several enclaves of militia groups in three states this weekend, resulting in several arrests;

    Federal warrants were sealed, but FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said there had been activity in two southwest Michigan counties near the Ohio state line. She wouldn’t say whether they were tied to the raids in the other states.

    FBI spokesman Scott Wilson in Cleveland said agents arrested two people Saturday after raids in two towns in Ohio. A third arrest was made in northeast Illinois on Sunday, a day after a raid took place just over the border in northwest Indiana.

    A U.S. official told the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity that some of the people arrested face gun charges.

    While Fox mentions only three arrests, the Detroit News says there were seven in Michigan alone;

    On Sunday, a source close to the investigation in Washington, D.C. confirmed that FBI agents were conducting activities in Washtenaw and Lenawee counties over the weekend in connection to Hutaree, a Christian militia group. Detroit FBI Special Agent Sandra Berchtold told The Detroit News the federal warrants in the case are under court seal and declined further comment.

    It is difficult to tell what beef the Feds had with the militia groups from the reportage, but nonetheless, the Left (most noticeably, Little Green Footballs) is using the raids to prove that there are terrorists on the Right who are a bigger threat to our security than the others. Another Left Winger, at The Reaction, says it’s about time;

    For all the focus of Islamic jihadism, which indeed deserves such focus, it’s about time Americans woke up and realized that one of the truly gravest threats to their country comes from within, from far-right militia groups, usually linked either to Nazism or to Christianity (or to both).

    I thought Nazism IS Christianity. That’s what I get from trolling the depths of Leftist *ahem* thought.

    Of course, on Friday, when the militia groups actually helped police in Michigan, Mark Potok, Southern Poverty Law Center’s chief bomb-thrower was quick to disparage the groups helping police search for lost people;

    One militia watchdog group said the township supervisor crossed a line by enlisting help from the local militia.

    “When officials welcome people like this in their capacity as militias, they help mainstream these ideas and these ideas can become dangerous,” said Mark Potok with the Southern Poverty Law Center.

    I guess Potok wants to outlaw “ideas”.

    UPDATE: According to Fox News, the arrestees had been planning to kill cops.

    Nine suspects tied to a militia in the Midwest are charged with conspiring to kill police officers, then attack a funeral in the hopes of killing more law enforcement people, federal prosecutors said Monday.

    No one I know does that – and it’s pretty likely that other militia groups aided police.

    ADDED: Some guy named MOTHAX at The Burn Pit wrote some familiar-sounding stuff today in relation to the SPLC.

  • The hyperbole of flag burning

    IVAW's Matthis Chiroux, Robyn Murray and MFSO's Elaine Brower burn the US flag "This is not my country!"

    Yes, there is a lot of drama over Matthis’ flag burning adventure last weekend. A good number of IVAW members oppose the utterly pointless demonstration by Matthis, Robyn Murray and Elaine Brower. You can hear Elaine Brower, whose Marine Corps son has completed at least three tours of the War Against Terror, screech “That’s what we think of this country!” while Matthis stomps on the burning flag in this video;

    And yet, I’ll bet she’s still in the US this morning.

    The third person in the video, Robyn Murray starred in one of our posts a couple of years back when she was captured in a video interview. Her only real complaint about her time in Iraq was the fact that she was 19.

    One of the Austin, TX IVAW crowd, Bobby Whittenburg wrote a bit about the flag burning yesterday at his blog Veter(A)narchy using hyperbole as a weapon;

    Matthis has received threats of violence, rape, and death. Such threats truly show the character of people loyal to the American flag and the American government.

    Actually it does show character – I scoured your comments and couldn’t find not one threat of violence, rape or death in the several responses to the posts. I can’t imagine anyone threatening to rape Matthis in the first place and a threat is just childish any-damn-way without the opportunity to act on the threat. I think they’re disappointed that no one threatened them, so they make shit up to ratchet up the drama.

    Personally, if I were a member of IVAW, I’d take a long look at myself in regards to the message that IVAW is trying to convey. It took them a year of waffling on Carl Webb before they finally tossed his punk ass to the curb. Geof Millard, the president of the board of directors wears unearned awards on his uniform. Jose Vasquez, the Executive Director of IRAQ VETERANS Against the War has never set foot outside of the US in uniform. Now Vasquez thinks his Puerto Rican heritage excuses his lack of an”affinity” for the US flag – irrespective of his years of service as an NCO in the US Army – and all of thospay checks he got. Vasquez replaced Alex Bacon, who went AWOL from the Coast Guard while stationed in Hawaii patrolling fisheries (no shit, really).

    And then there’s Matthis who claimed for the longest time that he was an Afghanistan veteran when the only two places he’s ever been stationed is Japan and Germany. He claims he has PTSD from interviewing real combat veterans. He apologized to Malalai Joya for occupying the corner booth at Baskin Robbins on Bagram Air Base for six days.

    There are countless examples of reasons to leave the dorks at IVAW behind. I’m thinking all of these doofuses are making money from their antics, why else would they work so hard at being caricatures of anti-war assholes? Folks like Bobby Whittenberg – an honest to goodness Purple Heart wearing hero – are being manipulated by the accolades he gets from cowards like Doug Zachary and Matthis Chiroux. And it’s a cryin’-ass shame that he doesn’t see it.

  • Stanford considers reinstituting ROTC

    The Washington Times reports that fprmerly prestigious Stanford is reconsidering it’s 40-year-old ban on the Army’s ROTC program.

    The return of ROTC to Stanford would carry a particular symbolism because of the fiery way in which the military/academic program left.

    Anti-war demonstrators burned down the Navy ROTC building on campus in 1968. Two years later, Stanford stopped giving credit for ROTC curriculum courses, citing what administrators said was the low academic rigor of the classes. The ROTC program was banished from the campus in 1973.

    “Low academic rigor” means, of course, that there was nothing that taught important classes like “The Historiography of Mutant Sex” or “You Can’t Hug Your Children With Nuclear Arms”.

    The university, along with several other “ivy” colleges are now considering lifting their ban because they’re trying to convince the president to lift the military’s gay ban.

    “That is inconsistent with the fundamental values of the university,” [Columbia President Lee Bollinger] said.

    Funny how they can think of more reasons to exclude the ROTC program from their university life than reasons to include ROTC.

    Instead of kowtowing to the eggheads, the government should, instead, close their ROTC program to the students who attend those colleges completely. As it stands now, for example, students at Harvard (which won’t let ROTC on campus) who want to attend ROTC have to go to MIT for their ROTC classes. The government still pays at least a portion of their tuition. That should end. freeze those universities completely out of the program until they decide to conform.

    Why should the military bow to a bunch of pointy-headed dorks – especially so these pseudo-intellectuals make have input to a system they don’t even understand. Besides, Harvard, Stanford and Yale are only brand names these days. their students are no better educated than any other. Who needs ’em?

  • Ringo meets the protesters

    There’s a special brand of crazy in LA and it takes a special guy to record the images. That’s why we welcome Ringo the Gringo into the TAH fold. He took some pictures of the protest last Saturday and these provide a nice a contrast to the supposed racial slurs in DC that were a topic of conversation this weekend. When he finishes his post, I’ll add his link.

  • Turning Nothing Into Something

    My senior year in high school I worked at Circuit City as a computer tech and salesman. At the particular store I worked at, we had a public address (PA) system in the store that was supposed to be used to make announcements about things sales and when the store was closing. However, most of the time it was used by employees to play pranks on each other (ex: we were able to patch a personal phone call over the PA so the whole store could here a particular employee breaking up with his girlfriend). One time, a customer was able to get on the PA system and scream PENIS after which he immediately ran out of the store. Following that particular incident, the district manager ordered that all the PA systems in all the stores in the Phoenix area be disabled. That was pretty much the end of it (and unfortunately the end of a lot of fun at Circuit City).

    Something similar happened at a Walmart in New Jersey when someone (either a customer or employee) got on the store’s PA system and announced that all black people needed to leave the store. Stupid and childish? Yes. Racist? Absolutely. Should the store management reevaluate how their PA system is used? Definitely. Does this incident warrant a wide ranging criminal investigation by the local police department and county prosecutor? Hell no.

    From the article:

    Store management contacted the Washington Township Police Department, which opened an investigation in conjunction with the county prosecutor’s office, Deputy Police Chief John Dalesandro said.

    “The incident is being investigated by both law enforcement agencies as a suspected bias intimidation crime,” local authorities said.

    What in the name of Chesty Puller is a “bias intimidation crime”? To me it sounds like something the local police chief and prosecutor make up for a chance at some national publicity (which they are obviously getting). You’re going to tell the people of your county that there isn’t more pressing matters than some jackass getting on a PA system at Walmart and saying something retarded?

    I’m waiting quite eagerly for Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the SPLC to come into this town and start extorting this town and Walmart for their “racism”. Does anybody want to take bets on when they are going show up?
