  • The battle for vets’ votes in NC

    The battle for vets’ votes in NC

    Yesterday the Washington Post ran a piece hopefully entitled “Military families could tip North Carolina to Clinton” and they quote the president as he repeats the same tired platitudes we’ve heard in the Clinton ads. Then they offer hope to Clintonistas;

    North Carolina has a massive military presence. More than 50,000 active duty personnel are assigned to Fort Bragg. Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville houses several Marine Corps combat units and support commands. The Air Force’s 4th Striker Wing is based in Goldsboro. With every poll showing that this state remains a true toss-up, strategists on both sides see these communities as top targets.

    Unfortunately, there is not recent, reliable polling on this specific demographic. Some earlier surveys showed Trump faring well among members of the Armed Forces but underperforming past Republican presidential candidates.

    Because veterans and active duty soldiers want more of the Obama treatment and that’s what Clinton promises. In fact, what Obama did to the military is what her husband started in the 90s. That’s the only idea they have – take the defense structure down and use the money to buy votes in social constructs and perpetuate their own power by pandering to the lowest information voters.

    To do their part for Clinton, the Post only interviews military voters at the Clinton rally while claiming that there is no reliable polling information for members of the military. Military.com could disagree with that point.

    Career-oriented troops favor Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by a 3:1 margin, a new Military.com reader survey has found.

    Of the more than 1,300 active-duty, National Guard and Reserve members who responded to the questionnaire and plan to vote in the Nov. 8 presidential election, about two-thirds, or 67 percent, said they plan to vote for Trump, while about a fifth, or 21 percent, said they intend to cast a ballot for Clinton.

    […]

    Across almost every demographic group, from branch of military service to paygrade to gender, Trump was the clear winner in the survey. (The Republican presidential candidate was also heavily favored by thousands more veterans and military spouses who filled out the questionnaire.)

    So would SOFREP;

    Out of 1968 military veterans and those currently serving, 1537 indicated they would be voting for Trump.

  • Manning fails at 2d suicide attempt

    Manning fails at 2d suicide attempt

    manning tears

    The Associated Press reports that Bradley Manning made another failed attempt at suicide while he was in solitary confinement.

    “After her July suicide attempt, I watched her begin to piece her life and spirit back together only to have that shattered by the disciplinary proceedings brought against her and then the unannounced initiation of her term of punishment last month,” [Manning attorney Chase] Strangio wrote. “She has repeatedly been punished for trying to survive and now is being repeatedly punished for trying to die.”

    Strangio added he worries about Manning’s “ability to keep fighting under these relentless abuses.”

    So, I guess we should release the fellow despite his heinous crime. Or maybe we should put him to death like they should have done the first time around for his treachery.

    The New York Times recounts Manning’s strange statement about a prison riot that never happened;

    On the night of Oct. 10, according to her statement, four people impersonating guards conducted an hourslong attack on the prison, during which she said she heard sounds indicating that the attackers were shooting and torturing her cellblock’s actual guards.

    These attackers tried to induce Ms. Manning to escape, she said in her statement. Instead, as the night unfolded, she hid in the corner of her cell, telling the impostors she knew they were not actual guards, it said.

    At 6 a.m. on Oct. 11, a regular shift of guards familiar to Ms. Manning arrived, and “everything returned to normal, except that several correctional specialists were deep cleaning the entirety of Alpha tier with Pine Sol and bleach,” the statement concluded.

    It sounds to me like they’re all laying the ground work for institutionalization in a mental hospital to get Manning out of prison.

  • The Never Ending DRC “Groundhog Day” Saga – Episode 14

    Well, it seems I’ve been “exposed”.  Yet again.

    It seems the DRC, or perhaps a member thereof, thinks they know who I am.  Yet again.

    This time, a little birdie told me that they’ve “determined” I’m a First Sergeant.  And they’ve also “determined” that I’m assigned to an Army Engineer unit.

    Hmm.  That’s odd.  I don’t remember getting those assignment orders.  I think I’d remember something like that.

    I also don’t remember getting orders appointing me to be a First Sergeant in any Engineer unit.  I think I’d remember that, too.

    And I distinctly remember getting retirement orders some time back.  (Looks at file copy.)  Yeah, there they are.  Maybe I should check my ID card to be sure.

    (Looks at Retired ID card).  Yep, ID card confirms it – I’m retired.  Hmm.  So, how in the world did I get assigned to an Engineer unit as a First Sergeant?

    Gee, ya don’t suppose those      morons      fellows got things wrong yet again, do you?

    Well, yeah:  they did.  For at least the 14th time, they’ve had a collective brain fart and misidentified another individual as being me.

    Wait, scratch that. They’d actually have to have a functional brain to have a brain fart. Not sure they qualify on that score – even in aggregate.

    For the record: I’m not assigned to any Engineer unit; I’m a retiree. I don’t know this guy they’ve identified as being me – hell, I’ve never met him.  (I’m not going to name him here; he doesn’t need the grief.)  And I don’t live anywhere near his unit’s HQ, either.

    But nonetheless, the DRC claims that’s who I am.  And considering their track record here . . . I’m not surprised.

    Those fools couldn’t find their own butts with written instructions, both hands, two full-length mirrors, and a helper. It figures they’d screw up “finding” me one more time.

    . . .

    OK, obligatory recap.  This is at least the 14th time the DRC has Fornicated Fido and identified some individual as being me.  I’m pretty sure I’ve missed one or two of their bogus IDs along the way, so the real total is probably higher.

    They’ve been wrong every freaking time.  And they show no sign of getting any better with practice.

    For anyone interested, this article gives a brief description of their last erroneous ID.  This second article gives additional details concerning their other dozen “goofs”.

    I swear, I think I’m going to have to post them step-by-step instructions.  That’s probably the only way they’ll ever be successful at finding Hondo.

    But I think I’ve figured out something else about whoever’s doing this:  this song absolutely must be a favorite of theirs.  Kinda descriptive of their obsessive mind-set, IMO.   (smile)  (Warning:  lyrics around 2:15 and 5:43 may be  briefly NSFW/around prudes, children, or clergy due to language.)

    Footnote:  In case you’re wondering about the piano work on the song, that’s apparently Ron Argent’s handiwork.

    Helluva job, IMO. Really a pity he and the lads didn’t do more work together over the years.

  • ACLU hates to honor cops

    Mick sends us a link to Fox News in regards to a New Jersey high school that wanted to pay homage to first responders before a football game this last week. the event was planned as a counter balance to the constant reminders in the media that professional football players don’t like the National Anthem. Well, the American Civil Liberties Union, didn’t like that a high school would provide a counter-message;

    “As initially described, the event appeared to honor police officers, veterans, service members, and first responders,” the chapter wrote in the letter.

    It continued, “It is a disservice to the students and players that an event that should focus on them, their families, and their communities is being used to send a message that people who express concerns about disparities in the criminal justice system are unwelcome, disloyal or unpatriotic.”

    One ACLU organizer, Jasmine Crenshaw, claimed the event sent a “frightening message” that police wouldn’t tolerate people expressing views on the nation’s “history of unequal treatment and systematic oppression.”

    I’m pretty sure that the police provide protection for all of the students in that school, irrespective of their race or creed. Does the ACLU disagree?

  • Mikey Weinstein’s continued hyerbole

    Mikey Weinstein’s continued hyerbole

    For some reason, the Air Force Times allowed anti-Christian jihadist Mikey Weinstein of the mis-named Military Religious Freedom Foundation to write another of his fact-starved op-eds in their pages.

    Last week, the FBI managed to thwart a massive bombing in Kansas. The horrific plot was extensive, planned over eight months by three members of a militia group who called themselves the “Crusaders.” Their target was carefully picked: 120 Somali immigrants living in a small apartment block, one unit of which was serving as a mosque.

    This kind of terroristic behavior is exactly what we’ve been afraid of at the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, of which I am founder and president.

    He continues on trying to tie the terroristic intentions of these “Crusaders” to Air Force units which have adopted the title for their units;

    In 2006, the 523rd Fighter Squadron, based at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, was calling itself The Crusaders and using an emblem consisting of a sword, four crosses and a medieval knight’s helmet. This was one of MRFF’s earliest complaints on this specific subject, and it’s been a constant throughout the past decade. (The squadron was mothballed after MRFF’s exposure.)

    In 2012 MRFF demanded that Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 discontinue use of the Crusaders moniker and a logo that featured a red cross on a white shield. The issue had already been dealt with in 2008, when the offensive name had been replaced with “Werewolves” and the insignia removed from plane tails. The commanding officer decide to restore the offensive name and imagery, but strong objections from MRFF convinced a three-star general to step in.

    He goes on to name a couple of other incidents and ends his pointless screed;

    The struggle against the Crusader terminology and graphic visuals continues. The Army signage at Ft. Rucker, Alabama still defiantly displays the offensive red cross. There are other U.S. military units following suit. Too many.

    We won’t stop fighting the gross injustice and unconstitutional bullying of military personnel by Crusader-themed imagery and language. It only leads to gruesome, hate-filled incidents like the carnage narrowly averted in southwest Kansas.

    First of all, the Air Force Times should be ashamed that they gave this shill a forum from which to preach to airmen about his fleecing of the American public. Many of these Crusader images and units have been around since the United States started participating in global conflicts. The only “gross injustice” going on here, is the distraction from war-fighter’s missions that Mikey and his crew have manufactured to wallow in his $300,000/year salary from MRFF.

    The First Amendment says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion….” When Mikey shows us that Congress has made such a law, then he has a complaint. Otherwise, STFU, Mikey.

    Thanks to Bobo for the link.

    Social Justice Warriors oppose camouflage

    black face

    I thought this story was satire, but apparently not. The British Army took some flack on their Twitter account because of a picture they posted of a soldier wearing camouflage paint. The perpetually outraged responded;

    Black face Tweet

    Black face tweets

    The Ministry of Defense responded;

    Black face british Army

    The British Army removed the picture, which probably doesn’t help.

    …and the SJW jump the shark.

  • Timothy Rossell; phony US Marshal

    Timothy Rossell; phony US Marshal

    Timothy Rossell

    Andy11M sends us links to the story of Timothy Rossell. He was also known as Deputy U.S. Marshal Austyn Gardner in Union, Missouri and in Fort Myers, Florida as Deputy U.S. Marshal Austyn Labella. Two women met him on dating websites and he fleeced them of tens of thousands of dollars and a couple of cars, including a white 2015 Lamborghini Gallardo. He also goes by the name Rosselli;

    As Rosselli, he has active arrest warrants from Gasconade County for a 2012 felony theft case involving rented property, Ste. Genevieve County for a 2013 misdemeanor stealing case involving two puppies and a 2013 felony stealing case in Franklin County involving rented property.

    […]

    In a Nov. 3, 2014, letter to the judge in Gasconade County case, Rossell used his real name and said he was born in Pennsylvania, and had been extradited there for felony charges, for which he was later sentenced to probation.

    Pennsylvania court records list another alias, Remington Rosselli, and say he has pleaded guilty to theft by deception and other charges. He has also violated his parole there, the U.S. attorney’s office said. News reports say he has passed himself off as a Pennsylvania state constable and Missouri state trooper.

    From KMOV, he had quite a collection of cars that he didn’t buy;

    [Detective Sergeant John] Biser says Rossell convinced a victim in Ft. Meyers, Florida to buy the Lamborghini, Gallardo and a Corvette Z06, valued at $96,000. Brown says Rossell was very proud of the Lamborghini…Police say Rossell was engaged to the victim in Union and had convinced her to buy a Cadillac Escalade, Ford Mustang Shelby and a Can-Am Spyder 3-wheeled motorcycle.

    I got nuthin’ – I can’t even get an ice cream cake for my birthday, let alone an Italian car.

  • Havok Journal and the sketchy Gourleys

    Havok Journal and the sketchy Gourleys

    Fireworks

    Our friends at Havok Journal write a very long article about Justin and Shawn Gourley who run Military with PTSD that annoying organization that sends out those signs about being courteous with your fireworks so you don’t scare the veterans.

    The thing we dislike most about the signs is that they are transparent attempts at self-aggrandizement. “If you don’t constantly remind everyone around you that you’re a veteran, were you ever really a veteran at all?” Additionally, the signs reinforce negative stereotypes about veterans, they further alienate veterans from the American populace, and they promote a victim mentality in veterans. These signs are the veteran community’s equivalent of social justice “safe spaces,” you know, the ones that we veterans are usually so quick to rail against.

    The worst part about these signs is, they work.

    When I say “they work,” I mean it in the sense of why people really put out the signs. The signs work to remind everyone who drives by that there is a veteran in the home, they reinforce a “victimhood” mindset, and they’re useful in bringing sympathy to the sign’s owner. They’re useless for just about anything else.

    The article goes into detail that I attempted in my own research of the Gourleys, but Havok Journal actually read their book, when I only skimmed the parts that I could get for free.
