3E9 sends us a link to South Carolina’s The State which reports that the George Soros-connected MoveOn.org’s veteran wing, VoteVets has teamed up with Mikey Weinstein’s misnamed Military Religious Freedom Foundation in their opposition to a speaker at Fort Jackson’s prayer breakfast.
The speaker, Kenneth Copeland, who I wouldn’t know from Adam, made the mistake, in the eyes of the two organizations, of telling soldiers who suffer from PTSD that they can turn to God for answers instead of psychology and drugs. And, oh, Copeland bought an airplane, so that proves he’s a charlatan, somehow.
Here’s the statement from Copeland that frightens the heathens at VoteVets and MRFF;
“So this is a promise—if you do this thing, if you arm yourselves before the Lord for the war…you shall return, you’re coming back, and be guiltless before the Lord and before the nation. Any of you suffering from PTSD right now, you listen to me. You get rid of that right now. You don’t take drugs to get rid of it. It doesn’t take psychology. That promise right there will get rid of it.”
I’m not a terribly religious person, but, you know, some people might respond favorably to a little God in their lives if they need Him. So, who the F is Mikey and Jon Solz to say otherwise?
Fort Jackson responded to The State’s inquiry;
Fort Jackson, the nation’s largest basic training installation, responded to The State on Friday saying that military prayer breakfasts and luncheons have been held since the 1950s and have hosted “religious leaders from many faith traditions and denominations, cultural leaders, and foreign heads of state.”
“The Prayer Breakfast is open to all community members, is entirely voluntary, and is cost free to the Army and attendees,” it said. “Mr. Copeland’s participation in the prayer breakfast is not an endorsement by Fort Jackson of him or of any comments that he may present. Fort Jackson respects and protects all (individuals’) rights under the First Amendment to the Constitution, including ensuring access to religious services and events for those who wish to participate and protecting the rights of those who do not.”
Mikey’s pockets must be light, time to shear the sheep.
