He’s probably the first hobo to falsely claim to be a veteran. Ever.

This delightful looking fellow is Gregory Ward Bass, Jr.. He was tossed from a shelter and while an ambulance was transporting him to a hospital, he assaulted the EMT and police officer riding with him. The officer was able to taser and subdue his ass. His explanation in an interview with police is unique. From Portland, Oregon’s KATU;
In an interview, Bass claims the attack was spurred by symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder he suffers due to “fighting he did in Uzbekistan against the Russians,” according to the probable cause statement. This claim was not corroborated by any evidence in the initial court filings.
KATU explains the tattoo;
The apparent tattoo on Bass’ forehead is a traditional symbol for Orthodox Christians in parts of eastern Europe and the surrounding area. The symbol shows the Greek letters alpha and omega (of their own religious significance) bookending a larger “christogram” in the center. This particular “christogram” is a centuries-old abbreviation for Jesus Christ formed by the Greek letters chi and rho, used in many contexts throughout history including on tombs, banners, jewelry, stained glass and military equipment.
Everyone has PTSD from something these days, even from imaginary wars.
Mick sends us a link to the Virginian-Pilot which reports that Anthony Weiner tearfully apologized to the 15-year-old to whom he sent sexually-explicit text messages and from whom he allegedly failed to solicit nude pictures.
11:25 a.m.
Former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner is crying in court as he apologizes to the 15-year-old girl with whom he exchanged sexually explicit texts.
The judge accepted Weiner’s guilty plea Friday to a charge of transmitting sexual material to a minor. He agreed to not appeal any sentence between 21 and 27 months in prison.
The Democratic former congressman apologized to the 15-year-old, saying, “I have a sickness, but I do not have an excuse.”
The judge told him he would have to register as a sex offender.
The FBI began investigating Weiner in September after the 15-year-old North Carolina girl told a tabloid news site that she and Weiner had exchanged lewd messages for several months. She also accused him of asking her to undress on camera.
They should also forbid that he ever have a telephone or other device that transmits digital photos. Make him send his sexually-explicit messages through pony express like our forefathers did.
You’ve probably heard about Richard Rojas who drove his Honda Accord on a sidewalk in New York City. He killed Alyssa Elsman, an 18-year-old tourist from Michigan and injured Ava, her 13-year-old sister along with more than twenty others. The press loves to point out that he was a Navy veteran. According to Navy Times in their Associated Press article, his time in the Navy was all fun and games;
Rojas enlisted in the Navy in 2011 and was an electrician’s mate fireman apprentice. In 2012 he served aboard the U.S.S. Carney, a destroyer.
Navy records show that in 2013 he spent two months at a naval brig in Charleston, South Carolina. They don’t indicate why.
Rojas was based at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida, before being discharged in 2014 as the result of a special court martial, a Navy official said.
A neighbor, Harrison Ramos, said Rojas wasn’t the same when he came back from active duty in 2014. Yeah well, that’s not what other neighbors told the police, according to the New York Daily News.
Mayor de Blasio said family members told cops that Rojas had been struggling with mental health issues since he was a young boy.
The incident “appears to be intentional in the sense that he was troubled and lashing out,” de Blasio told WNYC’s Brian Lehrer.
So he was a problem when he was a child and he was a problem as an adult – his military service had nothing to do with it.
Now Rojas says that he heard voices in his head and that he expected police to kill him. That’s hard to believe, too – he had to be tackled and restrained by Ken Bradix, a Planet Hollywood bouncer, when Rojas tried to flee the scene. But crazed veteran electrician’s mate is easier to understand.
According to the Miami Herald former Miami-Dade police officer William Weaver forged travel orders to fake a deployment with his Florida National Guard unit in order to bilk the department out of a few hundred bucks. The problem was that he had been discharged nearly three years before the incident and it looks like he used his National Guard girlfriend’s deployment orders for the forgery.
Miami-Dade police, which let Weaver go last year, didn’t release his arrest affidavit. But his arrest warrant, signed by a Miami-Dade circuit judge, tells the story of a former agricultural patrol cop who misled his employer and the mother of his child to steal $2,253.98 from the police department.
According to his arrest affidavit, Weaver submitted false training orders saying he was attending out-of-town events in El Paso, Texas, which allowed him to get paid for an additional 62 hours of police work.
His scam was uncovered, police said, when his lieutenant at the Miami-Dade Police Department discovered a discrepancy in a form and contacted one of Weaver’s military supervisors. The military supervisor said the officer’s claims were not legitimate.
I guess they never figure anyone is gong to check.

Jonn’s written previously about Will Hayden, formerly of Discovery Channel’s Sons of Guns reality show. For those who’ve forgotten or missed it: he was convicted in April of raping 2 preteen girls in Louisiana.
He was sentenced today.
The disgusting perv got two concurrent life sentences – plus 40 years to be served consecutively. It also appears that he’s ineligible for parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Looks like he won’t be taking any breaths as a free man anytime soon.
Fox News has an article giving a few more details.
Headline says it all.
Chicago inmates can now order pizza directly to their cells
I’d say, “YGBSM” – but I long ago ceased to be amazed by idiotic policies adopted by “Progressive” cities and states.
