Meanwhile, Trump’s economy births huge manufacturing contract
    By Poetrooper

Like the Energizer Bunny, the Trump economy just keeps marching ahead and pounding that drum. Last week, Boeing announced that it has been awarded a $9.2 Billion Contract from the DoD to produce the new T-X Jet Trainer and training program the USAF will use to train pilots for the foreseeable future. I confess that when I first heard during the Obama administration that Saab was involved with the Boeing proposal, my immediate suspicion was that the jobs and income from this lucrative contract might be going offshore, as both Italy and South Korea were also in the running. It was all too easy to imagine a new economically incompetent or, worse, corrupt Clinton administration handing this fat domestic plum to a foreign aircraft-fabricator to piously and foolishly signal their utopian assurances to the larger community of the world.

But that was before Trump’s election and his promised Make America Great Again economic renaissance made my concerns as obsolete as the fifty-year-old training aircraft in current use. Yes, Saab is partnered with Boeing and will share in the federal largesse, but this beautiful new aircraft will be 90% American-built, creating 17,000 lucrative aviation industry jobs in 34 states.

Show me any governor, even Democrat, who wouldn’t be salivating at the prospect of landing a few thousand, even a few hundred, of these high-paying jobs for his constituents. No doubt, deep-blue Democrats like Moonbeam and cuckoo Comrade Cuomo, whose coastal enclaves are now hemorrhaging high-paying jobs and had-enough citizens, will sniff sanctimoniously at being required to launder morally defiled defense dollars – all while furiously formulating new tactics for taxing the max away from these new golden geese. One certainty is that between now and the midterms, every Republican politician in every state should be touting this Trump retention of key manufacturing jobs, such skilled occupations as Obama had kissed off as long gone to the Third World, never to return to his America. They probably wouldn’t have come back to his, a Democrat-controlled, America – which is a good reason why sensible, hardworking citizens should never again give power to the max-taxing, jobs-destroying Democrats.

  • Update: Former Navy Sailor Suspected of Sending Ricin-Laced Packages

    mattis ricin crispies

    Answering the mail for ChipNASA.

Packages with suspicious substances — at least two of which tested positive for ricin — sent to the Pentagon, White House and Sen. Ted Cruz’s office in Texas this week were part of a coordinated effort by a former Navy sailor, officials told Fox News.

Investigators said one of the envelopes, addressed to Defense Secretary James Mattis or the Navy’s top officer, Adm. John Richardson, contained a return address leading them to believe it came from the sailor, whose name has not been disclosed.

Officials say a tip from the White House led the Pentagon to discover the two packages sent to the Pentagon.

Both initially tested positive for ricin but are now in the hands of the FBI for further testing.

The packages never made their way into the Pentagon, but were flagged in a mail delivery building next door on Monday, a Pentagon spokesperson confirmed to Fox News.

Seems the envelopes contained Ricin seeds, not the refined lethal powder, but still enough to be detected. I think our mystery ‘former sailor’ missed Terror Mailing 101, the part where it’s not considered good practice to include a return address with the surprise package.

  • SecDef Mattis and CNO Richardson targeted in suspected ricin mail attack Update- SS Intercepts Suspect Package Addressed to POTUS

Two packages mailed to the Pentagon this week are believed to contain the poison ricin, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

The packages were addressed to Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson, a defense official said on the condition of not being named. The packages triggered alarms Monday as they were undergoing security screening at a mail processing center that is on the Pentagon campus, but not inside the building.

Ricin is produced from the seeds of the castor oil plant, and is a highly potent toxin. A dose of purified ricin powder the size of a few grains of table salt can kill an adult human. The median lethal dose of ricin is around 22 micrograms per kilogram of body weight if the exposure is from injection or inhalation. Oral exposure is far less toxic, as some of the poison is inactivated in the stomach.

Later Tuesday the Pentagon allowed reporters to view the facility where every piece of inbound mail is inspected and screened before it is allowed to move on to its intended recipient. Inside, more than two dozen Department of Defense employees work 24 hours a day, screening the more than 500,000 pieces of mail sent to the Pentagon each year, a DoD official said on the condition of anonymity. In addition to the employees’ physical screen, there are additional tests that the official would not elaborate on.

Nor would the official say whether the facility had ever previously had a positive result like Monday’s ricin results, only stating that it was extremely rare.

Low tech but potentially lethal, and ‘they’ only have to be right once. Glad this fan mail was discovered early and the attack failed.

    UPDATE
Secret Service Intercepts Package with Suspected Ricin Addressed to President Trump

“The Secret Service can confirm receipt of a suspicious envelope addressed to the President on Oct. 1, 2018. The envelope was not received at the White House, nor did it ever enter the White House,” the Secret Service said in a statement. “As a matter of practice, the Secret Service does not comment regarding matters of Protective Intelligence. However, in this instance, we can confirm that we are working jointly with our law enforcement partners to fully investigate this matter.”

    Update
Pentagon: Suspicious substance in envelopes was castor seeds, not ricin itself

A Pentagon spokeswoman says the suspicious substance found in envelopes turned over to the FBI contained the substance from which the poison ricin is derived, but not ricin itself.

Dana W. White, the chief Pentagon spokeswoman, told reporters traveling with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis in Brussels that the substance was castor seeds.

On Tuesday, Pentagon officials said two envelopes that had been suspected of containing ricin were isolated at a Pentagon mail screening facility, then sent to the FBI. They said one envelope was addressed to Mattis, the other to the chief of the U.S. Navy, Adm. John Richardson. No one was injured.

  • US prosecutors seek death penalty for Uzbek immigrant in New York killings

    manhattan terror attack

U.S. prosecutors said they are seeking the death penalty in the trial of an Uzbek immigrant accused of mowing down eight people with a truck on a New York City bike path last year.

The death penalty was called for in documents on the case of Sayfullo Saipov, 30, who is charged with driving a rented pickup truck down a crowded bike path in Manhattan, not far from where the twin towers of the World Trade Center once stood.

The attack on October 31, 2017 was the deadliest in New York since the September 11, 2001 Al-Qaeda hijackings that brought down the twin towers.

Saipov’s attorneys in earlier court proceedings indicated he was willing to plead guilty if prosecutors did not seek the death penalty — something that U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly advocated in the days following the attack.

Responding to the prosecution’s decision on September 28, Saipov attorney David Patton said: “We think the decision to seek the death penalty rather than accepting a guilty plea to life in prison with no possibility of release will only prolong the trauma of these events for everyone involved.”

Prosecutors said that they decided to seek the death penalty because of the multitude of victims and the “heinous, cruel, and depraved manner” of their killings, because Saipov showed no remorse, and because they believe he is likely to commit further violence if set free in the future.

This is the same jihadist who demanded an ISIS flag be hung in his hospital’s recovery room; ISIS later claimed him as a “soldier” of its so-called caliphate. Prosecutors say he had planned the attack to be carried it out on Halloween Day, because he believed the crowds outdoors would give him the opportunity to kill more people.

  • Not sure what the Packers were thinking here.

    flag?

During Sunday’s pregame festivities, the Green Bay Packers trotted out this, ah, banner, of some sort, consisting of three stripes and by my count 26 stars in a blue field. With this crowd I doubt I need to go into what the American flag symbolizes, and this isn’t it. The only flag I can find that’s close, sans stars, is the flag of the Netherlands.

    netherlands

I for one haven’t been following the NFL of late, and for all I know the Netherlands may very well have an NFL team, although why they would want one is beyond me.

A lot of fans were confused, too, by their tweets:

“Who comes up with ideas like this? Number of stars (States in Union) and number of stripes (colonies that won our independence) defines us. That thing on the field is not our nation’s banner.
    1:41 PM – Sep 30, 2018 ”

“in honor of the Euros winning the Ryder Cup?

“Very unamerican flag at packers game no real surprise”

    To mention a few.

Wonder if Kaepernick would take a knee for this?

LOOK: Pelosi Calls Republicans ‘Despicable’ in Misleading Fundraising Email

    Fox News Link

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) fund raising email has been obtained by The Daily Caller, stating:

“I need you to rush in $1 to defeat every last despicable Republican,” Pelosi said in the email. “I will personally quadruple-match it.”

The message said that the fundraising asked for by Pelosi was “extremely time-sensitive,” and also “that the GOP was “ramming through a vote” on his confirmation “in a matter of minutes.” At that time, the full Senate vote wasn’t scheduled until Saturday.

“They don’t care about everything we’ve learned the past week,” Pelosi said of Republicans. “All they care about is falling in line behind Trump.”

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) then delayed further progress on Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation by calling for another FBI investigation.

Is there a doctor on the flight? Airmen save life on commercial airliner

A group of Air Force reservists were credited with saving the life of a man suspected of having a heart attack on a commercial flight on 19 Sept.

The airmen were part of a reserve aeromedical evacuation crew from the 433rd Airlift Wing out of Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.

The team was traveling on a commercial airliner from Dallas, Texas, to support patient transport missions out of Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Roughly 45 minutes into the flight, a 74-year-old man sitting next to Staff Sgt. April Hinojos, an aeromedical evacuation technician, complained to his wife that he felt faint, according to an Air Force press release.

The elderly man’s eyelids began to flutter, and he stopped responding to questions. That’s when Hinojos helped move him to the floor and evaluated the man’s condition.

“He didn’t have a pulse, so we immediately started [chest] compressions,” Hinojos said.

Around then, the pilot came over the intercom and asked if any medical personnel were on the plane.

“I had just started the movie and through my headphones I hear someone screaming for help,” said Maj. Carolyn Stateczny, an Air Force flight nurse.

The rest of the aeromedical crew was scattered throughout the plane and began working their way through the aisles to Hinojos and the man.

1st Lt. Laura Maldonado, another flight nurse, gathered the plane’s medical supplies for the airmen and Stateczny prepared an automated external defibrillator.

Capt. Justin Stein, the third flight nurse on the team, was unable to start the man on intravenous fluids because his blood vessels were constricted, possibly due to the suspected heart attack.

Tech. Sgts. Robert Kirk and Edgar Ramirez, both aeromedical evacuation technicians, worked on the man’s airway and provided oxygen.

“I’ve been a nurse for 16 years; in my expertise, I thought he was dead,” Stateczny said in the release. “He was completely grayish, his lips were blue, and his eyes had rolled to the back of his head. He was not responding at all. He had no pulse.”

The elderly man’s wife, naturally distraught, was moved to the rear of the plane.

Stateczny then requested the pilots land the plane at the next airport available so the man could get the required medical attention.

After getting the automated external defibrillator pads on the man, Stateczny said, he moaned, developed a pulse and started to recover.

They continued with oxygen and kept trying to start an IV.

“He slowly started arousing,” said Statezcny. “It took some time, and he could tell us his name. He started getting some color, and then asked ‘What’s going on?’”

The man thought he had just passed out, according to the release.

The plane diverted to Little Rock, Arkansas, where emergency medical services were waiting to take over patient care.

Aeromedical evacuation squadron members serve in a variety of military occupations, including nurses, medical technicians and administrative specialists. The crews are typically tasked out to help with events like natural disasters, caring for war wounded or routine medical transportation by air.

The crews usually consist of five people — two nurses and three medical technicians — and they carry with them all the necessary equipment to turn any cargo aircraft into a flying ambulance.

Bravo Zulu, AeroMeds. Damn fine job, and the stricken gentleman was very lucky to have chosen this flight.

  • Graham to Dems: ‘You Want Power’ – ‘God, I Hope You Never Get It’

    lindsey grahm

It was nearly like the OJ trial- where ever I went with media present, the embarrassing confrontation was playing. How Judge Kavanaugh kept himself in check and didn’t reach over and, never mind. One bright point stood out, however, and it came from a surprising source. The Senator from South Carolina, Lindsey Graham, used his time instead of questioning Kavanaugh, to make some very pointed comments about his perception of the hearing. This is a don’t miss.
