  • Chasing down the SPLC

    Yeah, so I’m obsessed with the SPLC today. The Associated Press has written a really sorry POS article on the report. For example, as proof that militias are growing, they offer this YouTube video;

    Aside from the guy in the video being a big, fat douche, the video was put on YouTube on Oct 6, 2008, a month before the election – before we knew we were going to have a Black President. So what does it prove? This doofus clown wanted us to buy legal semi-automatic weapons BEFORE the election.

    Oh, but here’s the ultimate proof;

    A series of domestic terrorism incidents over the past year have not been directly tied to organized militias, but the rhetoric behind some of the crimes are similar with that of the militia movement.

    There’s nothing to tie crime to domestic terrorists, so that proves that militia influence is growing. The militias aren’t saying anything that Ron Paul supporters weren’t saying last year. The only thing that’s changed is the Black President. Stupid AP.

    They ended their article with the only real example of “right wing terrorism” this year;

    One alleged example of a lone-wolf offender is the 88-year-old man charged in the June shooting death of a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.

    Not surprisingly, the SPLC found another domestic terrorist in Jason E. Bush, who I wrote about a few months back. He was a career criminal who lied his way into the Minuteman movement and convinced a woman to help him murder a man and his child for what they thought was drug money.

    Also present at the Cochise County muster were members of Minuteman American Defense (MAD), the Everett, Wash.-based group led by Shawna Forde, who was arrested less than a month later in the May 30 double murder in Arivaca, Ariz. Also arrested were MAD Operations Director Jason Bush and a third MAD member.

    Bush and Forde and one other person are proof that the whole Minuteman movement are racist, domestic terrorists, according to SPLC. Using SPLC’s reasoning, Carlos Bledsoe is proof that all Muslim converts are domestic terrorists. I’ll probably get TAH labeled as a hate site for writing that, won’t I?

    But trolling around, I think I found Spooky 8 over at Democratic Underground going by the name formercia in a discussion on the SPLC report;

  • SPLC’s Potok: You’re all racists

    Southern Poverty Law Center’s Mark Potok, who dropped by here once to deny that SPLC had called the American Legion a hate group, was on Fox News today to tell us that militia groups are on the rise. And you’re not helping;

    The “ideas” of the militia are fomented by your quotations from Jefferson and your unhelpful protests. Oh, and the charges that he’s a “professional fearmonger” are “hogwash”. Well, you judge. From the SPLC report;

    Fifteen years ago, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote then-Attorney General Janet Reno to warn about extremists in the militia movement, saying that the “mixture of armed groups and those who hate” was “a recipe for disaster.” Just six months later, Oklahoma City’s federal building was bombed.

    Yup, they foresaw one guy with a truck bomb six months before that one guy even thought about it. Oh, one guy who happened to have been in the military, by the way.

    …the entity that almost the entire radical right views as its primary enemy — is headed by a black man. That, coupled with high levels of non-white immigration and a decline in the percentage of whites overall in America, has helped to racialize the Patriot movement, which in the past was not primarily motivated by race hate. One result has been a remarkable rash of domestic terror incidents since the presidential campaign, most of them related to anger over the election of Barack Obama.

    You buncha racists.

    And on the site in Lexington, Mass., where the opening shots of the Revolutionary War were fired in 1775, members of Oath Keepers, a newly formed group of law enforcement officers, military men and veterans, “muster” on April 19 to reaffirm their pledge to defend the U.S. Constitution. “We’re in perilous times … perhaps far more perilous than in 1775,” says the man administering the oath. April 19 is the anniversary not only of the battle of Lexington Green, but also of the 1993 conflagration at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, and the lethal bombing two years later of the Oklahoma City federal building — seminal events in the lore of the extreme right, in particular the antigovernment Patriot movement.

    They always come back to Timothy McVeigh – and an organization of “law enforcement officers, military men and veterans” meets on the anniversary of his accidental success. The only reason I mention this SPLC report is because, apparently, the Federal government depends on them as a major source for their own advisories on center right organizations.

    ADDED: As proof of their discovery of a resurgence of radical right wing thuggery;

    Oath Keepers…may be a particularly worrisome example of the Patriot revival. Members vow to fulfill the oaths to the Constitution that they swore while in the military or law enforcement. “Our oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and we will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders,” the group says. Oath Keepers lists 10 orders its members won’t obey, including two that reference U.S. concentration camps.

    Oh, that’s scary! Members who vow to fulfill their oaths! Radical Right Wing nutjobs!

    That same pugnacious attitude was on display after conservatives attacked an April report from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that suggested a resurgence of radical right-wing activity was under way.

    Yeah, the report that SPLC wrote for the administration. Pugnacious. Vowing to fulfill our oaths to the Constitution is pugnacious now.

  • Scott’s office vandalized

    I linked to this video Sunday wherein Congressman David Scott melted down because he didn’t believe there were any white doctors in his district;

    The local news reports this morning that someone spray painted a swastika on a sign in front of his office;

    Employees discovered a Swastika allegedly spray-painted on a sign by vandals at Rep. Scott’s office in Smyrna.

    The motivation of the vandals is still under investigation.

    He claims there’s some hate mail involved, too;

    Scott held up a sheet of paper to Watson that had a picture of President Obama on it, his face made to look like the joker in Batman, a swastika on his forehead. Then he read what it said.

    “They address it to n—– David Scott, ‘You were, you are, and you shall forever be, a n—–‘,” Scott said, reading from the letter. “I got this in the mail today. Somewhere underneath this, bubbling up, is the ugly viscissitudes of racism.

    Yeah, so we’re all racists because ONE racist sent him some mail and possible ONE OTHER person painted a swastika on his sign. That’s the simple answer.

    David Scott was on Fox News this morning. He claims that the video from channel 11 was re-edited somehow. “Judge me right”. Since the video wasn’t a news camera, it isn’t true;Because the news isn’t coming from the media, somehow we can’t trust our lyin’ eyes.

    Photo of the sign below the fold thanks to CRaisi;

  • VanHollen avoids the health care debate

    My uber-leftist congressman, Chris VanHollen has found a way to avoid hearing fishy information about the healthcare debate. Through Organizing for America, I’ve been provided an opportunity to talk to a member of his staff in his local office (which is the same distance from my house as his Washington Office, by the way);

    How many people who disagree with Obamacare are subscribed to Organizing for America, do you suppose? Of course, VanHollen is way too important to meet with me, so all I’m going to get is a member of the staff (they mention that might be just someone sitting at the receptionist desk – um, a receptionist?)

    vanhollen-avoidance

    It’s probably so VanHollen can go on the floor of the House and make some grand speech about talking to his constituents and how they all supported the President’s health care plan. Well, I’m going to be there this week just to make him a liar.

    vanhollen-confirmation

    Welcome Ace of Spades readers morons. Thanks, DrewM

  • Looking at liars

    Kos has figured us all out. Those of us who don’t want to take any part in the Obama plan are a bunch of “insurance industry shills” so they made this commercial “Townhalls Gone Wild” in which they call us “cranks” and “nutjobs” because we have an opinion that’s not like theirs;

    I guess the folks at Kos think that if we feel bad about the way they portray us, we’ll throw away our health for appearances sake.

    Claymore sent us a link to a thread at Democratic Underground that’s a hoot. Some guy who calls himself “1776Forever” and uses a Thomas Jefferson portrait as an avatar, links to a story by a CANADIAN who happened to be in Las Vegas when his mother had a stroke.

    The hospital wanted to charge him $86,000 for a test on his mother. The DUmmy claims that the test would have cost him NOTHING in CANADA, ya know, where he’s a citizen. Apparently, I’m supposed to feel some sort of outrage because we’d charge people from other countries for the health care they get while they’re here. Because that’s what Thomas Jefferson would want?

    Of course, none of the commenters notice that we’re talking about a Canadian citizen trying to get health care in our country. “We suck” seems to be theme.

    In response to Barbara Boxer’s comment the other day that folks disrupting Town Hall meetings are too well-dressed to be regular folks (so we must be insurance industry shills), Michelle Malkin gives us tips on how we should dress and act to be seen as legitimate disgruntled Americans.

    So let me know when the Left decides to join the health care debate with some facts.

  • AARP cuts out on members

    I’ll provide a disclaimer at the beginning of this post – I hate AARP. They are cultish and deceptive. I used to sell insurance in a former life and had an opportunity to read some of the policies that AARP sells which are complete crap. My mother spent a year shopping for some Part B insurance for her Medicare before she retired and arrived at the same conclusion without any prompting from me.

    I broke out laughing when one of the AARP clowns in the following video began bad-mouthing insurance companies – AARP is nothing but an insurance brokerage that survives on the commissions they get from the insurance they sell. they have a vested interest in the Obama plan because seniors are going to need insurance to fill the huge gaps that will occur in senior care.

    Anyway, to the video; AARP was holding an informational meeting for some members in Dallas yesterday. The AARP reps got a little angry and left when their membership started questioning them about AARP’s support for the Obama plan.

    The AARP corporate shills were baffled at how the seniors wouldn’t take orders and let them spew the corporate line. Finally they unplugged their mike and left. Damn swastika-wearing seniors. That was from Moe Lane at RedState.

  • Now who’s astroturfing

    I just got this email from my local Obama Love Chapter Head Koolaid Dispenser here in Maryland. He wants me to go outside of my district to attend another Congress person’s town hall meeting;

    astroturf-left

    Well, maybe they just sent it to me because it’s hard to keep track of who lives where among all of the Obaminions in Maryland. Except that I got this email right after the first one telling me that “according to their records” I live in Maryland’s eighth district and would I please call my congressman, Chris VanHollen, to give him moral support in this grueling battle against “scare tactics”.

    astroturf-left1

    So who is astroturfing now? I’m guessing my uber-Leftist Congressman isn’t venturing out into the wilds of Silver Spring among the unwashed masses. Of course, most of his constituents in my neighborhood barely speak English, anyway, so why bother. So I should boost attendence in another district. In fact, I got three emails urging me to attend three different Congressal district town hall meetings – some across the state from me.

    The second email was entitled “Beating the scare tactics”.  What could be scarier than a President who compiles an “enemies list” of people spreading “fishy” information?

  • Pelosi sees Nazis

    Our buddy, DanNY has this video up at his place GOE-NY and it really needs exposure. Nancy Pelosi tells an interviewer that she’s seen swastikas at the rallies against the health care plan;

    Yeah, the “astroturf” word has made it into the Democrats’ lexicon finally, and they can’t seem to describe any opponent as anything except Nazis. I’ll bet you that if I went to a rally at which each side protested, I’d see a damn sight more communist symbolism than I would Nazi symbolism.

    Pelosi is so out of touch with America that she’s reduced to making shit up.

    And at Michelle Malkin‘s, she tells us how Lanny Davis wants Obama’s minion hordes to photograph us and investigate us. And who should they report to, Lanny?

    From Morrissey, Barbara Boxer does her best imitation of that airhead TSO posted from Santa Clara last week. Y’all need to dress like homeless people for legitimacy;
