  • Right Wing News: The 20 Most Annoying Liberals of 2012 (10th Annual)

    Our buddy, John Hawkins sends us a link to latest iteration of “The 20 Most Annoying Liberals of 2012 (10th Annual)“. That must have been a gargantuan task to pare down the list to just twenty. But here’s a sample of his piece;

    20) Chris Hayes: He’s a smarmy, politically correct beta male who would probably be irritating even if he wasn’t talking about politics. If you had to pick the MSNBC host most likely to hold Rachel Maddow’s purse while she shops, it would be Hayes.

    Defining quote: “(It’s) very difficult to talk about the war dead and the fallen without invoking valor, without invoking the words ‘heroes.’ I feel … uncomfortable about the word hero because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war.” — Chris Hayes

    5) Harry Reid: On the one hand, it’s great to see that the farmer from the American Gothic painting doing so well. On the other hand, Reid still achieved a new low in American politics (which is saying something) when he, as the Senate Majority Leader, very publicly accused Mitt Romney of not paying his taxes for a decade based on what he claimed were anonymous sources.

    Defining quote: “I am not basing (the claim Mitt Romney hasn’t paid taxes) on some figment of my imagination. I have had a number of people tell me that. I don’t think the burden should be on me. The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes.” — Harry Reid

    4) Debbie Wasserman Schultz: She’s the Caps Lock key of American politics because she sounds like this all the time, “THE REPUBLICANS ARE HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD PEOPLE WHO WANT TO EAT YOUR BABY AFTER THEY FINISH THEIR WAR ON WOMEN AND THEY’RE LYING IF THEY DENY IT!” The fact that someone as utterly unappealing as Schultz is in every single way could not only be elected to Congress, but could be the Chair of the Democratic National Committee is probably a sign of the apocalypse.

    Defining Quote: “If you go back to the year 2000, when we had an obvious disaster and – and saw that our voting process needed refinement, and we did that in the America Votes Act and made sure that we could iron out those kinks, now you have the Republicans, who want to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws and literally – and very transparently – block access to the polls to voters who are more likely to vote Democratic candidates than Republican candidates. And it’s nothing short of that blatant.” — Debbie Wasserman Schultz

  • Committment, and the Blood of Innocents

    A bit over a week ago, a guy named Adam Lanza snapped.  He went full-blown batshit crazy, murdered his own mother, then stole her guns and used them to commit mass murder of innocents.  He then killed himself.

    Ever since, the “liberals” and “progressives” have been virtually falling over each other to be seen advocating more gun laws.  How dare Lanza’s mother have owned those “evil” guns!   Those guns were to blame for this tragedy!  And in true “never let a crisis go to waste” spirit, we’re already hearing rumblings about more Federal legislation to restrict exercise of rights guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment vice any actual discussion of what happened.

    Let me offer a theory to explain this.  They’re following the playbook.  In part, this is a deliberate attempt to change the subject and divert attention from the actual cause of the Sandy Hook massacre.

    In fact, the political left is directly responsible for the massacre at Sandy Hook – not law-abiding gun owners or morally-neutral things called guns.  I’ll explain why.

    By all accounts Adam Lanza was a profoundly mentally disturbed youngster.  While he allegedly had been determined to have Asperger’s syndrome, very obviously that wasn’t all that was wrong with Lanza.  His actions prove that quite clearly.

    Lanza’s mental health issues appear to have become more pronounced as he got older.  In fact, Lanza was so profoundly disturbed that his own mother – who’d consistently supported and protected her son, pulling  him out of school and home-schooling him when his issues started to become severe – was apparently at her wit’s end.  She was reportedly in the process of attempting to have her son institutionalized at the time her son murdered her.  Indeed, her attempt to have Adam Lanza committed is thought by some to have been the trigger for his rampage.

    Now, here’s something you won’t see much of in the media.  Under Connecticut law, Lanza’s mother had little to no chance of getting him involuntarily committed.  It seems Connecticut law in general only allows people to be involuntarily committed after they have harmed themselves or others.  Before they hurt someone?  In general, you can file that under “Not Gonna Happen”.

    That’s bad enough, but it gets even “better”.  It also seems that Connecticut considered a change to its laws earlier this year that would have allowed Lanza to have been involuntarily committed.  However, the proposed law did not pass the Connecticut legislature.  It was defeated.

    Connecticut is quite liberal.  It is today one of the bluest of the Blue states.  The Democratic Party rules there with an iron grip.  It currently has in excess of a 60% majority in each house of the Connecticut General Assembly:  22 of 36 seats in the Connecticut Senate, and 99 of 151 seats in the House.  The current Governor is also a Democrat.  Clearly, laws in Connecticut pass or fail as the Connecticut Democratic Party desires.

    I’m not a fan of making it easy to involuntarily commit a person to a mental institution.  That’s an extreme step; it should be rare, and should always be the option of last resort. So long as a person isn’t a danger to themselves or others, and is capable of caring for themselves, more power to them – whether we consider them crazy or not.

    But society does have the right to protect itself.  Some people are simply full-blown batshit crazy and are also dangers to themselves and others.  There should be a legal mechanism – one having  appropriate legal due process and other safeguards – to allow dangerous lunatics to be removed from society before they injure or kill themselves or others.

    One doesn’t need to wait for the car to roll over the cliff before hitting the brakes.  By then, it’s too to save the driver – or the folks at the bottom of the cliff who get hit.

    In practice, such a mechanism does not exist in Connecticut today.  The Democratically-controlled Connecticut legislature had the chance to institute such a measure earlier this year – and refused.

    Viewed in this context, it’s easy to see why the liberal side of the political spectrum is beating the gun control drum so hard.  IMO at least part of the reason is that they’re doing so to distract attention from the fact that the blood of innocents is on their hands.  They’re simply trying to shift that blame to someone else.

    They could have acted to take Adam Lanza off the street earlier this year. And they consciously decided to let that remain impossible, consequences be damned.

    So if you want to see who’s truly responsible for the murdered innocents at Sandy Hook, my liberal “brethren” – just look in a mirror.  You’re the ones who decided that letting lunatics live free among you – danger to others be damned – was more important than the lives of innocents.

  • Good Guns can Kill Bad People

    The liberals hadn’t let the blood dry on the classroom floor in Newton, CT before they were using the deaths of all those children to leverage their cause of gun control. Had conservative broadcasters done such a thing they’d be roundly denounced as soulless ghouls and rightly so. When I first read online of the killings, I just shook my head in sadness then immediately steeled myself for what I knew was coming from the hysterical lefties. They did not disappoint although I must confess to a certain despair that Mayor Bloomberg has become such a predictable old scold. Can we not somehow sue this turkey for calling himself a Republican?

    Another horrific mass murder and if we could not predict its timing we could predict its site within certain parameters. With predictable regularity, the most lethal of these types of attacks take place in public venues such as shopping malls, restaurants, theaters, with the deadliest frequently being institutions of learning. We are all familiar with the Columbine high school killings in which 12 students and a single teacher died or the Virginia Tech massacre where 32 people died. Fewer remember the 2006 killing of five Amish schoolgirls by a milk truck driver or the Jonesboro, AR school shooting in which five died, gunned down by fellow students. How many remember the memorable name of Kip Kinkel, an Oregon high school student who murdered his parents and two students in 1998? Or what about that Red Lake, MN mass killing where nine died in 2005? Of course all of you remember the recent Aurora, CO theater shooting but what about the 2007 Arvada, CO school shooting that left five dead?

    The point I’m attempting to make here is that these tragedies recur with an irregular chronological predictability but with an altogether predictable targeted area, school campuses, be they elementary as with this latest tragedy, or high school as at Columbine, or university as with Virginia Tech. Other than their educational bond, they all share another commonality, the one which most likely leads to their selection by the perpetrators as the scenes for their slaughters: they are all sites where the presence of firearms is strictly prohibited and enforced with zero tolerance. There is no one to shoot back and thus deter the shooter from his maddened mission. Think about it, most of these mass shootings end with the suicide of the killer after he has accomplished his goal. Few are ever killed by authorities or captured.

    These killers control the events because they have picked the setting where that is most easily accomplished, where they can inflict the most pain and death in a very brief period of time before an armed response can be mounted. We hear them called cowards for killing the helpless. I believe they are more viciously cunning than cowardly, picking a target so vulnerable as to permit them to accomplish their goal of creating as much mayhem and death as possible in the shortest period of time.

    It’s a cliché to say there’s never been one of these mass shootings at a gun show, but it’s a cliché birthed in truth. How about at a shooting range where a madman could walk in fully armed with total impunity, unquestioned, with multiple lethal weapons and begin firing? His entrée would be easy. Problem is, so would his predictably rapid departure. How about gun shops or sporting goods stores where guns and ammunition are sold and in plentiful supply, filled with shoppers who have a much likelier chance of carrying concealed, unlike a mall theater or food court? Ask yourselves, when was the last mass shooting at a rodeo or a NASCAR race?

    Ponder that for a while, those of you liberals who equate the presence and availability of guns with criminal shootings. The truth operates in the obverse: it is precisely where there are the most guns and people who know how to use them where the massacres do not occur. And it is precisely where guns are not present where these slaughters do take place. That is no accident; rather it is a demonstration of the awareness of mass killers as to where it will be most expedient for them to attack, where they will have the most time to conduct their slaughter.

    Some may try to prove me wrong by pointing out the Fort Hood shooting but that argument is easily refuted. That horrible event, once again, was carefully planned to be carried out in the general midst of a heavily armed military force in a precise location within that force where it was least likely that any armed soldiers would be present to intervene: the Soldier Readiness Processing Center, a medical processing facility. Like all these other shooters, the cowardly physician who forsook his medical oath knew quite well he was targeting one of the least-protected sites on that huge base.

    Those who are so angry, frustrated and fed up with the futility of their lives that they have no desire to continue living have multiple ways of dealing with their problems. Fortunately, most finally accept that they must have external help and seek it, continuing to live. Others refuse that option and take their lives themselves. A few, perhaps more angry than most, go out in in flash of angry defiance, what we call death by cop. Tragically, we always have the few whose warped reasoning and boiling anger leads them to believe they must go out of this world on a stream of innocent blood from a place where the very lack of guns guarantees the fulfillment of their horrific madness.

    If you liberals want to assign morality to firearms, consider: As any combat infantryman, and I am one, can tell you, guns don’t kill people; good people with good guns do kill bad people. Unfortunately, bad people with bad guns kill good people unless they are stopped by those good people with good guns. When defensive guns are known to be in the target area, such as schools, the massacre-minded madman will have second thoughts about his target selection, perhaps sending him to a gun range or a gun show to perpetrate his madness.

    We can only hope…

  • Detroit’s tin cup

    Old Trooper sends us a link to a Detroit Fox News report that a council woman, JoAnn Watson, says that since the city pulled the lever for President Obama (75% of Detroit voters voted for Obama), he should bail them out before they go over their own fiscal cliff the end of this year;

    “Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that,” said Watson. “Of course, not just that, but why not?”

    Fox 2 News Headlines

    Yeah, I might be a little more sympathetic, but JoAnn Watson is property tax cheat and probably one of the reasons that Detroit is in debt;

    A Detroit City Council member paid only $68 in property taxes this year because city records showed her home doesn’t exist.

    JoAnn Watson, 58, said she was unaware of a city records discrepancy that has, for the past decade, listed her house as an empty lot even though the brick Tudor-style home has been occupying the plot since 1926, according to a story Sunday in the Detroit Free Press.

    Watson said she receives her property-tax bill separate from her mortgage bill and never questioned why her taxes dropped – or why they didn’t increase when she repaired her home after a tornado.

    She said she noticed the drop in her property-tax bill, which she handles herself, but assumed it was because the tornado left a hole in her roof and damaged the home’s foundation.

    So, basically, she won’t pay for her responsibilities, but the rest of us should.

  • Daily Kos sees a right wing bomber in AZ

    So here’s the breathless reporting from some dingus who calls themself Empty Vessel at Daily Kos, about the bombing at a Social Security Office in Casa Grande, AZ;

    Got that? Without knowing who the bomber was, Empty, blames the Right and our inherent racism, and warns his/her readers that the Right has begun our war against the government.

    I fear that the bombing today is a sign of what is to come. Just as the violent and secessionist rhetoric of the early 90s culminated in the bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, I fear hate radio and Fox News will lead to bombings in red states.

    Of course Mr/Ms Empty mitigates those words with “Assuming the bombing today in Casa Grande is the product of right wing extremism….” The problem is that the perpetrator of the bombing was Abdullatif Aldosary, 47, an Iraqi immigrant;

    Records from the Arizona Department of Corrections show Abdullatif Aldosary did time in state prison for aggravated harassment case. Details in the case are unclear, but records show he was sentenced in Maricopa County Superior Court. He was released in 2009.

    Of course, we’ll not see a retraction from Mr/Ms Empty or an apology to the right for blaming us for the actions of a single disturbed immigrant who comes from a culture which traditionally settles it’s legal problems with homemade explosives. Mostly, I’m sure we’re not due an apology because our intent is still there, even without any evidence.

    So buckle up, the next four years just got longer.

  • Moron explains VA’s gun sales increase and crime rate drop

    Yeah, this guy, Peter Galuszka, who writes at the Washington Post blogs is a total moron. If I wrote crap like his post today, you guys would force me off the internet. He tries to explain why crime rates are down in Virginia while gun sales are through the roof. But, you see, because he’s a moron, gun sales can’t have anything to do the crime rate being down.

    It’s anyone’s guess why crime has continually dropped. Theories include demographic shifts resulting in fewer of the younger, inner-city men who tend to be involved in violent crime. Better community-based police work could be a cause. Some even say it’s because of large numbers of abortions by low-income women.

    So, there you go, abortions are responsible for a lower crime rate – thank goodness for abortionists who kill our criminals before they have an opportunity to commit crimes. All hail the baby killers! So, if the rise in gun sales isn’t preventing crime, why are people still buying guns? Numbnuts explains;

    [Virginians] and their gun sellers are riding a wave of irrational fear that was vigorously promoted by socially conservative politicians in the 2010 and 2012 elections. As for Obama, any link between a desire for personal, deadly firepower and the election of the country’s first African American president raises some rather ugly questions.

    Got that? Since minority families are aborting more babies, crime is down, but gun buyers are the racists. Of course, Galuszka is a white liberal so he can get away with saying shit like that, as stupid and racist as it sounds.

  • More PETA Propaganda

    Here’s a copy of the asinine ad that PETA plans to put on billboards near Nevada schools:

    They’ve apparently already placed similar billboard ads near schools in Canada, and plan to do the same near schools in California.

    I hope they ask some kid and he or she tells them, “Because turkey tastes great!”

    Idiots.

  • NYC doesn’t want to be rescued

    In a link sent to us by Country Singer to our buddy JammieWearingFool, folks from the National Guard who have resting up between shifts helping in the recovery of the city torn apart by Hurricane Sandy are being evicted from their armory to make room for Victoria’s Secret crew members preparing for a show later this week;

    About 300 uniformed personnel have been bunking down at the armory at various times since Sandy hit.

    But their numbers will be reduced to 60 by Wednesday for the event, which is featuring Rihanna and Justin Bieber.

    Last night, about 150 of the personnel were crammed into a space meant for 50 as Victora’s Secret workers moved in equipment and set up temporary dressing rooms.

    A massive transformer generator was being brought in for the show, and a huge Sony video board was hauled to the site.

    So, you have New Jersey turning away non-union power crews, Nanny Bloomberg turning away National Guard members because they touched guns once, and now this. And, oh, yeah, they had to apply political pressure to Bloomberg to get the NYC Marathon cancelled – and those generators are still standing idle from the last reports I’ve read.

    It sounds to me like they have leadership problems up that way that can only be remedied at the ballot box.
