  • Air Force veteran opposes Pledge in child’s classroom

    Fox News reports that 26-year-old female Air Force veteran Haley Sides has declared war on her child’s school because the principal of the public school has asked student’s to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of each day. Side’s explanation for her opposition to this new policy is somewhat convoluted, so if you can figure it out, please explain it to me;

    “It pains me to think that at a school that emphasizes thinking globally we would institute something that makes our children think that this country alone is where their allegiance lies,” said Sides. “This has no educational value for young children. Absolutely none.”

    Sides started crying as she described why she is so opposed to the pledge being recited in her daughter’s school. The explanation goes back to her partner, a Jamaican-born Navy serviceman who died just seven months after obtaining U.S. citizenship — and when his daughter was 18 months old.

    According to the paper, the pledge will be read over the PA system every Monday and recited in individual classrooms the other days of the week. Students who don’t want to participate will be allowed to sit or stand respectfully.

    It’s a public school, so it’s funded by American taxpayers…Side’s child’s education is coming out of our pockets, don’t you think she owes us a bit of allegiance? i certainly sympathize with her that she lost her ‘partner” and the child lost her father, but that’s certainly no reason to start acting like a jackass and waving her DD214 around as if it gives her some measure of moral authority to shit all over everyone else’s patriotism. She can always shop around for a private school that doesn’t require the Pledge of Allegiance every morning.

    Since the school isn’t forcing anyone to recite the Pledge, I’m assuming that Side is opposed to her child even hearing the pledge recited. She can always carry her ass to Jamaica and pledge allegiance to the Rastafarians since that’s where her allegiances seem to lie.

  • Occupy Wall Street trying to recruit Military and Police to the cause.

    It seems that the incident with Sgt. Thomas as caused the OWS movement to try to attracted military personal improve their image.

    Their website OccupyMarines.org, is calling for “Non-Active ‘Occupy’ Military Supporters Only” and they are organizing a dress code which will help identify their branch affiliation. So we should be seeing Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel dressed to impress at Occupy events across the country. Their goal will be to talk sense into police officers and recruit them into supporting the cause

    One Veteran, Alex Limkin said:

    “There is nothing more central to a free and democratic people than the right to dissent, the right to disagree, the right to stand up in the town square and be heard… I feel quite sure that in standing in solidarity with the peaceful Occupy Wall Street movement, I am doing no less than upholding my oath as an American soldier.”

    Perhaps it would be more convincing of a peaceful protest if he was not given administrative leave and a restraining order for threatening a female co-worker.

    This is just pure insanity that occupy wall street is trying to make politicize the military to their own ends. I have no words for this. None.

    Ok with the many fakes like Jessie Macbeth, Rich Duncan, and James Morriss to name a few. So now with this new guy the trend continues. Has this happened to people above? Yea. But considering the anti-war history of lying and creating fake war veterans that you really thing think that a nameless guy wearing headgear that is linked to all people that wanted to kill him. But he support the OWS movement so that is a automatic pass. If that was not crazy enough I just got this story.

    A married mother of four from Florida ditched her family to become part of the raggedy mob in Zuccotti Park — keeping the park clean by day and keeping herself warm at night with the help of a young waiter from Brooklyn.

    “I’m not planning on going home,” an unapologetic Stacey Hessler, 38, told The Post yesterday.
    “I have no idea what the future holds, but I’m here indefinitely. Forever,” said Hessler, whose home in DeLand sits 911 miles from the tarp she’s been sleeping under.

    Hessler — who ironically is married to a banker — arrived 12 days ago and planned to stay for a week, but changed her plans after cozying up to some like-minded radicals, including Rami Shamir, 30, a waiter at a French bistro in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

    She swears she’s not romantically involved with her new friend.Yesterday was a typical day for the pair, who woke up at 8 a.m. on their little patch of paving stone near the communal kitchen and dashed off to Trinity Church to wash up.

    Hessler emerged an hour later, her brown hair in dreadlocks, wearing a T-shirt depicting Han Solo and Princess Leia kissing, and bearing the slogan “Make Love Not War.”

    She got coffee and a granola bar from the protest kitchen before sorting laundry for two hours.
    The unemployed Long Island native compared her decision to abandon her family to Americans serving in the armed forces.

    “Military people leave their families all the time, so why should I feel bad?” a defiant Hessler said. “I’m fighting for a better world.”

    Yea. Just remember if any one says that the support Occupy Wall Street that this is what kind of people that that sympathies with.

    BlackBerry users across the world were exasperated Wednesday as an outage of email, messaging and Internet services on the phones spread to the U.S. and Canada and stretched into the third day for Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa.

    For want of a nail the shoe was lost.

     For want of a rider the battle was lost.
     For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
     And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

    Gotta wonder what this will do to the various Occupiers?

  • Dufferoo has flashbacks from the 60s

    Gordon Duff posted the video that TSO put up yesterday of members of Veterans For Peace getting their asses stomped by the police for not following directions from the police. Of course, they were hiding behind their veteran status so they could act like doofuses. Duff sees this like its the 60s civil rights abuses in Alabama again;

    Duff goes on to walk the thin line between stolen valor and not stolen valor by embellishing his military career…again. He says his “day job” is training foreign police forces and he lumps himself in with the other experienced trainers;

    Many of us, certainly the older crowd, were in Vietnam, some training Diem and Thieu’s police, me with a Marine Special Landing Team, or others SEALs, CIA, Special Forces, doing every imaginable job.

    I’ve searched the internet for a “Marine Special Landing Team” and I’ve found “Special Purpose Teams” (Special Operations) and “Landing Teams” which are what the Army calls “combined arms task forces”, but I can’t find anything about any “Special Landing Teams”. Anyway, DUff was an E-3 lance corporal TOC Rat at battalion S-3 in Headquarters and Service (H&S) Company 1/5th Marines with 18 total months of military service. He goes on to hint that he “knows” Afghanistan as if he’s ever been there, or even in the neighborhood.

    Duff goes on to accuse the troops who he’s ostensibly defending in this post, of loading drug dealer trucks with poppies and guarding the heroine for drug dealers in the middle east.

    So in defending the VFP protesters stomped by police, he disparages other troops;

    No American hero is safe, not Pat Tillman, shot down by Americans in Afghanistan, not the veterans attacked by police in Boston.

    I guess Darth Cheney gave the order to shoot Pat Tillman because he was about to come out against the war and Tillman’s fellow Rangers just went ahead and blindly followed orders to shoot him down in cold blood. Because everyone knows that Rangers are just “dumb missiles” who don’t think for themselves and I think they’re raised on special farms away from real society. none of them grew up around regular people or have consciences.

    Nice job, Gordo, tearing into the guys who are doing their job and defend those pinheads in Boston who think that being a veteran gives us the right to obey the laws we like and disobey the ones we don’t. Duff needs to drag his non-service-connected disabled ass up to Boston to see for himself who he’s defending.
