    Saturday morning feel good story

    Both AW1Ed and Chief Tango sent us our feel good story this morning from Washington State;

    Edmonds police say the woman was awakened around 3:15 a.m Thursday by the sound of someone pounding at their front door. She called 911 then grabbed her gun and went by the front door as the intruder began to force his way inside.

    “They thought they knew who was pounding on the door. That’s why they opened it,” said Sgt. Bob Barker with the Edmonds Police Department. “When it wasn’t who they thought, they tried to push him out. It didn’t work.”

    The woman struggled with the intruder but, realizing she wasn’t going to be able to hold him back much longer, fired a shot at his stomach, police said. The intruder was not armed.

    Officers arrived moments later to find the wounded intruder, identified by family members as 22-year-old Nelson Petrone, still at the front of the house in the 16400 block of 75th Place W.

    Petrone was taken into custody then driven to Harborview Medical Center where he’s still being treated for the wound. No one else was hurt.

  • Friday morning feel good story

    Friday morning feel good story

    Another feel good story sent by Chief Tango, this one is from South Carolina;

    A man who shot a suspected thief will not face charges because of the state’s so-called “Stand Your Ground,” law.

    But deputies have charged the suspect, Thomas Smith, who they said was trying to steal scrap metal when the property owner confronted him and shot him.

    Smith, who was shot in the arm, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he has since been treated and released.

    Under the state’s “Stand Your Ground,” law, there are several requirements for a shooting to be considered justified.

    But the hospital released Mr Smith, so the police are trying to find him again.

  • Thursday morning feel good story

    Thursday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our Thanksgiving Day feel good story, and it comes from Oregon;

    Thieves busted into Russell’s back yard on Sandringham Drive Northeast to steal ATV tires three times in the past two days.

    He estimates the value of the tires between $500 and $1,000 dollars.

    By the third time the thieves returned, Russell decided to protect his property.

    “I thought I needed to do something or it wouldn’t stop,” he said.

    He got out a shotgun hid in the bushes. He believes the thieves saw him when they raced past the side of his house in their SUV.

    “They were coming down the road and they wouldn’t stop…When they tried to run me over, that was the last straw,” he said.

    Russell took the gun and fired one round, busting out the back window of the thieves’ truck, leaving glass glistening in the driveway and a clue that helped police identify the vehicle: paint chips from the car.

    “That I actually shot at them, I think that’s what probably scared them the worst,” he said.

    Wednesday morning feel good story

    Today’s feel good story comes from Illinois;

    Two suspects entered the Calumet City Bakery 154th and State Line Rd around 3:30 pm Tuesday. One suspected walked into the store on his cell phone then signaled to the second suspect who walked in behind him.

    The first suspect brandished a gun and announced a robbery.

    The clerk hands over the cash but then the suspect forced her to the back of the store where the owner was waiting. The owner had seen everything on closed-circuit TV.

    The owner shot the suspect seven times.

    The suspects fled. The wounded suspect was found a block away in his car. It was discovered he had been holding a toy gun.

    I guess it’s a criminal version of rock/paper/scissors and real gun beats a toy every time.

    Chief Tango sends another one from Indiana;

    Jacob Grimes, 23, of Paoli, Indiana, broke into a residence in the 7000 block of South County Road 700 East in Hardinsburg at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Detective Craig Starr.

    Officials say that the home’s owners, who are brothers, heard Grimes enter the home and moved their elderly mother into a bedroom as a safety precaution.

    Police say the two brothers went and searched the home in an effort to locate an intruder. Their search initially turned up nothing. Police say the two men then went to retrieve tools to fix a door that had been damaged during the break-in. Investigators say it was when one of the brothers went into the home’s basement, that he encountered Grimes.

    Officials say Grimes punched the victim and the two men became involved in a physical altercation.

    The other brother heard the fight from another room. Police say he went into the room and saw that Grimes was armed with a knife and fighting with his brother. Police say the man then shot Grimes with a handgun; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Surveillance video shows at least two men attempting to go inside the front door, but the doors were locked.

    From there, Nancer tells us things took a turn when he says the man hopped the fence.

    He says he immediately took action because he feared for his life.

    “He went to the back and tried to break in the window. He was coming and he got a pistol on him and after that, when I saw him, I started shooting. I shot him three times,” says Nancer.

    Around the time, Nancer says he shot the man, a man can be seen running to a car parked in front of the store.

    He struggles to get in and too weak to shut the door.

    Chief Tango sends us some more feel good stories this morning. The first is from North Carolina where a thief learned benefits that we all learned in Basic Training; keep control of your weapon at all times;

    Officers told Channel 9 that a man came into the South Main Internet Café on Main Street just before 10 p.m. armed with a gun. They said he then ordered everyone in the café to get on the ground and shoved the handgun in the teller’s face, demanding money.

    Police said the female teller was so nervous that she dropped the till from the machine on the ground, and had to bend down to get the cash and stack it on the counter.

    Investigators told Channel 9 that the robber did not have a bag for the cash so he put his gun down on the counter and began stuffing money into his coat.

    Police said that the teller then picked up the gun, pointed it at the robber and fired a shot at him, but missed.

    The next story comes from Indiana;

    Indianapolis Metropolitan Police detectives say two men came in and held the people inside at gunpoint. Family members say there were four people inside including the owner, his girlfriend and two others. Standing up against the burglars, police say the woman pulled out a gun and held it up. That’s when she, and at least one of the robbers, pulled their triggers and were both shot.

    The next story comes from Georgia;

    “I heard my door. Someone was kicking on it. So, I got my gun, tipped from my bedroom on into my dining room and when I got to my dining room my door just crashed in,” Green said.

    He said he turned the corner to go into the kitchen and that’s when he saw the three teenagers.

    “The first thing he hollered, we is teenagers, don’t shoot me,” Green said.

    Green said he didn’t care what age they were, they were breaking into his home.

    “If you are old enough to do a crime, age doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter whether you’re a teenager, you’re grown. If you can do the crime, your punishment, it shouldn’t matter. I had my gun in my hand and I just started firing at them,” Green said.

    Green said he called 911 right after the teenagers ran. Once deputies got there he said he overheard the scanner that someone had been shot.

    “I kept asking the police officer, who got shot. He said that’s the one that you shot. I said you joking. He said yep he got shot in the side,” Green said.
