    Yet another feel good story from Chief Tango, this one happened in Louisiana;

    Karen Collins, 45, and her boyfriend, Robert Esteves, 42, had returned to Esteves’ house in the 9000 block of Sharla Drive after a Christmas party. They were lying in bed when Collins’ ex-boyfriend, Bobby Edler, 44, entered the room, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

    Edler ordered Collins out of bed at gunpoint. He led her to the front door, at which point Esteves grabbed a shotgun and fired at least two rounds at the intruder. One of the shots proved fatal.

    Edler returned fire, hitting Esteves in the arm, before collapsing.

    Police found him around 4:30 a.m., lying in a pool of blood just inside the door. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

    Saturday morning feel good stories

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories again this morning. The first is from Colorado;

    An intruder has been shot and killed in a home invasion in Jefferson County.

    The home invasion happened about 8:30 a.m. at a home in the 26300 block of Clear View Drive in Mount Vernon canyon.

    It is not clear how the suspect, an adult male, got inside the home.

    The second story comes from California;

    The wife of the 53-year-old resident received a motion alert text on her cellphone from the couple’s home alarm system as he worked in his office at the home in the 4000 block of Via Dora Drive around 12:40 p.m., Antioch police Lt. Diane Aguinaga said. The man’s wife left the home just minutes before the text.

    After the tip, the man armed himself with a gun and checked the house. Two people, a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, were inside going through the home’s belongings, Aguinaga said.

    The homeowner confronted the two and during the standoff shot at them several times, Aguinaga said. The man and woman fled during the shooting with some of the property and one of them later showed up at a hospital with several gunshot wounds, she said. It appears that person will survive, Aguinaga said.

    Thursday feel good stories

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories once again today. The first is from North Dakota;

    Fargo Police say 32-year-old Eugene Fredrick Quinnett went in store and was digging around behind the counter.

    A manager questioned him and Quinnett put his hands in his jacket and indicated he had a gun.

    The manager then pulled out his own gun and Quinnett ran.

    Thanks to a good description of Quinnett — police were able to locate him at a local motel.

    The next comes from Arkansas;

    Saturday night, Fort Smith police said 25-year-old Marcus D. Gould and 20-year-old Leon Roberson are in custody in connection with an attempted armed robbery at C & S Pawn Shop on South Thompson Street.

    Officers said the two men came into the shop together with semi-automatic guns and started shooting. That’s when the employees at the shop fired back. One of the suspects was wounded in the exchange of fire at the shop, police said.

    No employees were injured, officers told 40/29 News.

    The next story comes from California;

    At a home near Granada Avenue and Second Street, around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched for an “unknown trouble” call. When they arrived, they discovered that a resident had armed himself against an intruder.

    According to preliminary investigations, the resident reported that he had accidentally fired the weapon, but didn’t hit the suspect. The suspect then fled unharmed and climbed a tree to hide, but suffered an injury falling from the tree and was transported to a local hospital before being booked.

    Finally, the last story is from Indiana where an armed homeowner held a getaway driver at gunpoint and helped police solve four other burglaries;

    Police said they arrived at a house in the 800 block of Edgewood Avenue on the city’s North Hill around 5:30 a.m. Sunday to find the resident holding a gun on Holmes, the alleged burglar’s driver, whom he had lying on the ground.

    Police arrested Holmes, charging him in connection with four separate offenses.

    The Edgewood Avenue resident told officers someone had broken into his garage late last month and stolen guns and a hunting knife.

    After that, he said, he installed an alarm system. He said the alarm went off Sunday and he could see someone in his garage with a flashlight.

    The man said he went out to the garage and fired one shot into the air. He said a male ran from the garage onto Virginia Avenue. The resident said a blue Chevrolet Cavalier approached and stopped in front of his garage. He said he held the driver at gunpoint until the police arrived.

    Hardin left work, went home to check and found a vehicle parked on Dixie Road near his home.

    “There was a boy in it who apparently was asleep,” Sealey said. “He (Hardin) tapped on the window and the boy took off at a high rate of speed.”

    Hardin went on to his home, walked inside and was confronted in the hall by two men who were wearing masks, Sealey said.

    “One of them pulled a gun and shot Hardin in the shoulder,” Sealey said.

    Hardin, who had a gun, returned fire, killing one of the intruders, who fell into a bedroom, Sealey said.

    The second intruder ran away, Sealey said.

    The man who was killed has been identified as Randal Dwight Hardin Jr., 28, of Black Bridge Road in Parkton, Sealey said.

    Randal Hardin is a distant relative of Sanford Hardin, Sealey said.

    Tuesday morning feel good story

    Today’s story is brought to you by Chief Tango once again and it happened in Kansas;

    Police Sgt. Byron Endsley said at the scene that a man who lives at 305 S.W. Clay heard a noise at his residence and went downstairs to investigate. A news release from Lt. Dean McWilliams said the homeowners called police to report someone trying to break in their house.

    Endsley said as the homeowner neared a door at the residence, someone from outside the house threw a brick through a window, striking the man in the face.

    The person outside the house then tried to reach inside the broken window and open the door, Endsley said. At that point, the man inside the house confronted the man outside, firing several shots from a gun and striking the would-be intruder several times.

    The wounded man then ran down the alley behind the house and was found lying in the back yard of a residence at 317 S.W. Clay.

    Monday morning feel good stories

    We get our feel good stories from Chief Tango again, the first coming from Wyoming;

    The suspect, who has not yet been identified by police, entered the pharmacy at about 9:45 Saturday morning and demanded narcotic pain pills, Police Chief Brian Kozak said.

    The man, described only as a white male, was “brandishing what the employees believed to be a firearm,” Kozak said. The weapon was ultimately determined by police to be a very realistic-looking toy gun.

    “The pharmacist then pulled out a firearm – a handgun, a revolver – and shot the suspect once in the chest,” Kozak said.

    The next story comes from Georgia;

    Police accused Eric Bernard Monts Jr. of attempting to rob a woman and she shot him. The 20-year-old suspect is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

    The next is from California;

    [Lt. Andre Hill] said police found one black man who had been shot in his upper torso area and was in critical condition.

    The shooting victim was transported to John Muir Hospital, where Hill said his status is still listed as critical.

    Hill said police have not positively identified the man.

    Police believe the homeowner confronted the man who was in the process of taking or had taken some items from the house or yard, Hill said.

    The homeowner is cooperating fully with detectives on the scene, Hill said.

    The last story comes from Florida;

    The deputy, identified as Jessie Holton, was alerted by another resident of burglaries in progress. While violently resisting arrest, Holton responded to the threat, discharging his firearm, and hitting McCloud.

    Police said Holton lives in the neighborhood.

    Police said McCloud was taken to the hospital with serious injures but is expected to recover.

    McCloud, who was arrested just days before for carrying a concealed firearm by convicted felon, has an extensive arrest record. McCloud is facing multiple charges in the incident including several burglaries in the Foothill Drive area and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, officials said.
