    Larry McElroy, the Little Rock AFB gunman, dies from injuries

    larry-mcelroy

    According to KATV, the fellow who approached Little Rock Air force Base security personnel with a firearm and was appropriately ventilated has passed on to his Great Reward.

    McElroy was previously listed in critical condition at a local hospital after being shot by Air Force Base security defense following his attempt to gain access to the base on Monday while armed with a weapon.

    The base was locked down for several hours following the incident.

    The FBI says McElroy had no apparent motive or any ties to terrorism.

    Apparently, Mr. McElroy was known to local law enforcement, though. In January, he reported to the Sheriff Department that a device he had ordered from Ebay detected electronic “bugs” that had been planted by General Nathan Bedford Forrest and Colonel Sanders (I’m sure you recognize those names), who Mr. McElroy claimed were stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base and conducting surveillance on him;

    So, I’m wondering how he got a hold of a firearm. He certainly wasn’t balanced and the police were aware of his behavior. I wonder if anyone had bothered to try to get him some help or some other steps to prevent him from owning a firearm. From Fox16;

    On March 31 of last year, the sheriff’s office responded twice in the same day to McElroy’s home. In the first incident that day, McElroy thought his wife was trying to commit suicide, which she said never happened. Three hours later, McElroy reported he was afraid for his safety. He reportedly believed people were watching him and said he wanted to go to the hospital.

    Prior to that, in January, he and his wife were both hallucinating that 25 armed men in uniforms had held them hostage in their home for 10 hours.

    The report says McElroy’s father admitted his son had been using drugs, and had hallucinations in the past. In February of 2013, McElroy called regarding a domestic dispute with his wife that she claimed they never had.

    McElroy didn’t have a record of violence except for one domestic battery call where his wife accused him of choking her and hitting her with a hammer but she never pursued charges

    Yeah, but was he in the NICS system?

    UPDATE: Yay! Crazy vet connection! He spent eight months in a now-defunct Arkansas National Guard Unit.

  • Two injured when shots were fired at Little Rock AFB

    Fox News reports that shots were fired at the main gate of the Little Rock Air Force Base and that two folks have been transported to the hospital to treat their injuries and that one of those people wasn’t in the military.

    According to Fox16, Jacksonville Police reported that someone without authorization tried to access the base.

    KATV reports that the shooter wasn’t in the military.

    KATV – Breaking News, Weather and Razorback Sports

    You might remember that jihadist Carlos Bledsoe killed one and wounded another soldier in Little Rock six years back when they were taking a smoke break from their recruiter duties. I’m not saying the two incidents are related, just reminding you.

    UPDATE: KATV now says that the second person injured was a “bystander with unrelated injuries” whatevr the hell that means.

    UPDATE 2X; From KATV;

    LRAFB officials say at approximately 1:15 p.m., a white male crashed his vehicle over a curb into a street sign at the front gate of the base. He exited the vehicle holding a weapon. Two military security members guarding the gate were directly involved taking the suspect down, according to an LRAFB spokesman.

    The suspect’s name has not yet been released. Base officials speaking to the media Monday afternoon say the motivation for the incident is unknown, but the FBI has determined the suspect was a “lone actor”.

    Cuomo’s cluster f*** in Dannemora

    One corrections officer at Dannemora, NY’s Clinton Correctional Center is characterizing the manhunt there as a “cluster f***” largely due to legacy governor Cuomo’s interference in a bid to suck out all of the credit for the eventual capture of the two escaped murderers, Richard Matt and David Sweat, according to the New York Post;

    The sources, meanwhile, said the State Police, the lead agency, had repeatedly refused to share information on the design and scope of the manhunt with the local police, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, the state Correctional Services Department and the state Environmental Conservation Department, whose police officers are part of the search, as well as the US Marshals Service.

    Just a few days ago, a potentially dangerous confrontation was narrowly avoided when a group of heavily armed State Police troopers combing the woods near Willsboro unexpectedly came upon several members of a Correctional Services emergency response team emerging from a patch of forest, startling them.

    According to the article, Legacy Governor Cuomo has transportation standing by to whisk him away to the facility in the event that the cluster f*** ever captures the duo, you know, accidentally, or something.

    I guess that no one has ever noticed that when the politics of something takes precedent over the actual overarching goal, that stuff never functions the way it’s supposed to work.

    Whadya mean that’s not Cuomo in the picture above?

    How was your weekend?

    Weekend in DC

    Violence enjoyed the weekend in DC this last. According to Emily Miller at WTTG eleven people were shot and another 11 were stabbed in the District between Friday afternoon and Monday afternoon. The local police union official blames the “Ferguson effect”;

    What is the cause of the crime spree? D.C. Police Union Chairman Delroy Burton said there are two reasons.

    He said the police department has lost over ten percent of the force in the last year a half. They have either quit or retired.

    “Fewer police officers on the street, less visibility — equals more activity,” said Burton. “So if they know the police aren’t coming, then the criminals are emboldened.”

    He also blames it on the so-called “Ferguson effect.” Police are afraid of being blamed for incidents with minorities.

    “Since Ferguson, every single police encounter, particularly with someone who is a minority or someone who is black, is somehow deemed to be racism or discriminatory policing — and that is garbage,” said Burton.

    There were no police involved in any of the violence, so I’m not sure I understand that explanation. But, I’m pretty sure that if police questioned all of the registered gun owners in the District, they will all have proof that they weren’t involved in any of the violence. They did make three arrests in regards to the 22 attacks.

    51 people have been murdered in the District this year (as of June 8th), according to the Metro DC police website.

  • Restraining order fails to stop woman’s death while she waits for her gun permit

    Restraining order fails to stop woman’s death while she waits for her gun permit

    The New Jersey Courier Post reports that even though Carol Bowne had a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Michael Eitel, and she was patiently waiting for her permit to own a gun to protect herself, that didn’t stop Eitel from stabbing her to death in her driveway this last week;

    “She did absolutely everything she was supposed to,” said Denise Lovallo, a fellow hairdresser at O’Hara and Co. in Somerdale.

    “Do they have enough now to get him?” she asked of Bowne’s attacker.

    […]

    “She got a restraining order about a month ago, and right after that her car windows were broken,” said O’Hara.

    Court records show Eitel pleaded guilty to a weapons offense in 2008 after being indicted in 2006 on a charge of aggravated assault with bodily injury. He received a five-year sentence for that offense, which neighbors said was related to an assault on a former girlfriend.

    She applied for a handgun permit on April 21st, according to the police. I guess New Jersey lawmakers forgot to forbid knives in the state. Later reports say that Eitel has been arrested, not that it does Ms. Bowne much good now.

    UPDATE: According to ABC6, Michael Eitel was found dead by his own hand in another ex-girlfriend’s garage;

    Officials say the suspect wanted for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death in Berlin Township, New Jersey has been found dead.

    45-year-old Michael Eitel was found dead around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the garage of a home on the unit block of Holly Drive in West Berlin.

    He took his own life.

    OPM says they were hacked by the Chinese

    Many of you dropped notes to us that the Chinese hacked into the Office of Personnel Management’s computer system, stealing information on more than 4 million Federal employees and retirees. According to the Washington Post;

    The hack was the largest breach of federal employee data in recent years. It was the second major intrusion of the same agency by China in less than a year and the second significant foreign breach into U.S. government networks in recent months.Last year, Russia compromised White House and State Department e-mail systems in a campaign of cyberespionage.

    Well, if they stole my identity, I hope they have better luck with it than I have. By the way, which ever unfortunate Chinese guy gets my name, you have a couple of court dates that you might want to put on your calender.

    The government says that folks affected will be eligible for free credit monitoring for 18 months. I never stopped my credit monitoring from LifeLock since the VA lost my information the first time 10 or 12 years ago, because the government is always slow to alert us about the breach. Be prepared.

    The only person LifeLock ever busted for using my identity was my wife. They alerted me to the use of my social security number on her car loan as a co-signer while she was still at the dealer. So I know the thing works.

    CPO Buob’s murderer gets hit with $1m bail

    Bobo sends us a link to the latest news about Darla Renee Jackson, the person who ran over Chief Petty Officer Zachary Buob last week while he was on a motorcycle and she was driving a Japanese shitbox. A San Diego judge set her bail at one million smackers;

    “The defendant pushed the motorcycle 300 feet until he fell to the ground and then she drove over him,” Deputy District Attorney Laura Evans said. “From the witness statements, it appears it was a deliberate and intentional act.”

    Jackson’s lawyer, Stephen Cline, said Buob “sped by her on a motorcycle and got angry about something and kicked her car, which she had just bought. He kicked her car hard enough for her to swerve and she wanted to get his information to give it to the police.”

    Of course now, Ms. Jackson is worried about the future of her young daughter. She should have thought about that before she chased down the young Navy petty officer. He didn’t deserve her death sentence, no matter what he did or didn’t do.

  • Road rage takes life of CPO Zach Buob

    Road rage takes life of CPO Zach Buob

    Several people have sent links to the reports of the road rage murder of Chief Petty Officer Zach Buob, a 20-year veteran of the Navy and assigned to the Navy Special Warfare Command in San Diego. It looks like this person, Darla Jackson ran the sailor down. Her mother says that it was an accident, not murder, but, in this world of camera-phones, the video shows something different;

    From Fox News;

    Jackson was booked into jail and is being held without bail pending an arraignment on June 2. The station spoke to Jackson’s mother, who said her daughter had been wrongly accused.

    The woman said her daughter, the mother of a 3-year-old, was the victim because the motorcyclist was driving erratically.

    “The motorcycle was trying to cut through some cars and for whatever reason he kicked the side of my daughter’s car,” the woman said. She said her daughter took off after the motorcycle to get the driver to pull over.

    “She went on to follow him trying to get information for the insurance and what have you,” said Margie.

    So, even if it happened the way Jackson’s mother says that it happened, Buob deserved a death sentence for it? Nice.
