Here’s another update and good news of a special sort. A family friend of the De Alencars, the wife of a soldier, wanted to do something for the De Alencar family. So, she started a GFM page, with the modest goal of 15K, with every dime going to the De Alencars. (The now fatherless children range in age from 3 to 17.) Well, the GFM donations are over $230,000 right now. It does my old heart good to see that–and probably yours, no matter what age your heart.

The GoFundMe page that was started by the wife of a SF soldier who was a friend of De Alencar’s has pretty much topped off. The total donated is $327,305, a nice sum that will help Mrs. De Alencar and her five children. There will be a presentation of the check soon and pics of the presentation will be posted on GoFundMe before it goes down. That’s something you don’t often find at that site: proof positive that the money–all of the money–went where it was promised to go.

The Go Fund Me page is closed and no doubt was when I posted my cmt immediately above. I have read the page backwards and forwards and there is not a scintilla of doubt in my mind that every cent of the $327,305. Collected will be presented to Mrs De Alencar for her and her children. The GFM page is not down b/c there will be pis and an acct given of the presentation. For the funeral schedule, see my 19 April notice above.
