Prince George’s County Police Department Corporal Mujahid Ramzziddin was murdered today in Brandywine, Maryland when he stepped in to protect a domestic violence victim from her tormentor, according to Fox5DC;
The shooting occurred on Chadsey Lane in Brandywine, and sources told FOX 5’s Paul Wagner the suspect, who had a protective order against him, used a shotgun to kill the officer, who was not in uniform.
Sources told FOX 5 the suspect took the officer’s gun and then led police on a chase that concluded in the area of Route 210 and Old Fort Road. Officials confirmed that police shot and killed the suspect.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Corporal Ramzziddin was a Marine and a DC Air National Guardsman. He spent five years with the DC Metro Police before his 15 years with the PGC police. A lifetime of continuous service to his country and his community.

There was an officer killed in Mobile, Alabama overnight. I think it involved a domestic. Cops I know tell me a domestic is about the most dangerous call they can get, b/c often EVERYONE there is after your ass.
EVERY LEO I’ve ever known said that DV are their least favorite calls. No matter what the situation, they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
More than once I had to fight both the husband, and then after arresting him fight the wife when she saw me taking him away. Domestics and “unknown trouble, 911 hang ups” are the worst.
I was on a domestic call once, my two partners start fighting with the suspect, then his two kids want to get into the fight. So I’m fighting the kids while they’re in the kitchen as the suspect is trying to disarm my partner.
Whole family got a trip to jail that night. 🙂 One went to the hospital first.
It is true, the old man can beat the shyt out of the wife but when you step in, she will beat the shyt out of you! Only thing worst, is if you are a constable and try to take a man’s car or dog! lo

Lived in PGC many years back… had to drive 40 miles to get to a decent range. Moved out as soon as I could and haven’t left Texas environs since.

Sucks. He wasn’t on a call or, with his experience, he would have waited for backup. Domestics and traffic stops. And people wonder why LEOs aren’t all ice cream and cupcakes. this officer had four children.
