Funeral pact kept

Sometimes you guys send me links that I just don’t know how to handle. This one comes from VTWoody and our allies, the Australians;

0694161300

Before one of them was sent to fight in Afghanistan for the British Army, they made a deal: If one of them died, the other had to wear a dress to the funeral.

So when Barry Delaney turned up to the graveside funeral of best friend Private Kevin Elliott, he did so wearing a tight fluorescent dress, The Times reports.

Mr Delaney wept on his knees during the Scottish service for Private Elliott, who was killed while on foot patrol last month. He was aged 24.

I do understand.

In my book, break a promise and you’re done. This is freaking awesome!!

  3. All gave some, some gave all. What a dedicated and true friend. Could use a bit more of that dedication worldwide.

    Well met, brother.

God Bless them both, and all who serve.

Such honor is an all too rare commodity.

  10. Being *brothers* is a boundless responsibility… Semper Fi!!

  11. A true brother in (sleeveless, spaghetti strap) arms.

I once wore a dress when my platoon lost a competition, but that pales in comparison to this fellow. Good for him, and I can just imagine his buddy looking down from heaven and laughing his ass off, and then crying over his friends devotion.

These are better men than I have ever been. And as number 3 says: I learned all I needed to know in the first 30 seconds about the clinton administration and islam on 9/11/2001.

    That’s both funny, and touching.
True friendship, to keep such a promise.
    ‘Nuff said.

Agree with all that have said it. A true friend even after the end. This is the stuff that keeps me going, when I think that I’m having a bad day. Sad; exceptionally Joyful; most definitely Sad that a young man lost his life. Joyful that there is hope for the world with the dedication shown by another.

    RIP Troop
