PARIS (AP) — Stung by criticism for not attending an event honoring U.S. military dead, the White House says President Donald Trump didn’t want to disrupt Paris roadways for a last-minute motorcade to a cemetery in northern France.
Trump had been scheduled to lay a wreath and observe a moment of silence Saturday at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial, located adjacent to Belleau Wood and about 60 miles (100 kilometers) northeast of Paris. The White House cited weather conditions that grounded the president’s helicopter for the cancellation.
In the wake of criticism that Trump didn’t travel by car to the event, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement Sunday that noted the weather and “near-zero visibility” as well as concerns that a motorcade on short notice would have required closing substantial portions of area roadways.
“President Trump did not want to cause that kind of unexpected disruption to the city and its people,” Sanders said. She also said the trip to Aisne-Marne was 2½ hours each way by car. – Article.
The determination to ground Marine One, the president’s helicopter, due to bad weather is made by the Marine Corps and the White House Military Office, which then presents the recommendation to the White House in collaboration with the Secret Service, according to a Secret Service official. – Article.
Fine with me. I don’t know that it makes a difference to anyone other than those who have nothing better to do than nitpick everything from the First Lady’s shoes to which way the wind blows.

I didn’t bite because we don’t have any idea what actually happened.
Nothing in the video supports Tucker’s claim that his daughter was verbally assaulted. There is no point in the video that anyone swears at Tucker’s family. Tucker is the one standing and his family’s “attacker” is seated calmly.
The incident occurred over a month ago. If it happened as Tucker claimed it did I find it very unlikely he would have kept it private like he did. He would have politicized and televised the victimization of his family by a liberal mob because it would draw viewers.
The fact that he kept the incident private leads me to believe there were things about it he did not want public and thus likely not the innocent victim he is trying to pretend he is.
He only went public when the lawsuit filed against him went public.
Which ordinarily would lead me to believe he was the transgressor in the incident.
However, the guy that filed the lawsuit is a liberal activist that I also do not find credible.
Nobody involved is credible and nothing in the video shows a verbal assault on Tucker’s daughter.
So I don’t know who to believe.
What happened was the club had an internal investigation and shitcanned the slimy bastard who insulted the daughter of a guest. Good enough for me.

So this was NOT President Trump’s decision, at all. After all, he has his own private aircraft if he really wanted to be rebellious, but the RULES are that he has to use the government-issued stuff and follow THEIR rules.
In addition, I am never, EVER impressed by anyone who thinks he’s so important that he will go to a meeting outside IN THE RAIN and expect people to stand there, too, while he runs his yap. Not sure how other Vets see it, but to me Veteran’s Day is always the 11th of November.
One may contemplate why someone might think that way.
To me, the one moved to Monday holds no real meaning beyond “Hey, let’s have a day off in DC”. I do my Rememberance on the 11th.
Trump went to France for the century observance of -why- we have ” Veterans’ Day”. Properly. If a 70+ year old man needs a day or two to recharge after that out-n-back jet lag, I am fine with that. He was on-game on the day that matters to me, the 11th. Monday was just a day off, at least for some folks.
Mr. Trump has, more than most, accumulated a reserve of tolerance. From, for example, every time I cash my fatter paycheck, or utilize the extra benefit my employer deployed from -their- fatter paycheck, or watching Trump gob-smack folks who so dearly need it.
I cut him slack because I think he is making us win. Since his opponents decidedly do -not-, their complaints seem … Hollow.

There was NO ceremony on November 12. Veterans Day is November 11, and has been November 11 for some time now. All Veterans Day ceremonies are held on the DATE of November 11, regardless of the day of the week.
