  • A GDMA Scandal “Scorecard”

    For anyone interested, here’s a short list of those who’ve been named as involved in the Glenn Defense Marine Asia, Ltd – AKA GDMA – scandal.

    CDR Jose Luis Sanchez, USN – pleaded guilty earlier this month to bribery charges. He was the subject of yesterday’s TAH article regarding the GDMA scandal.

    John Bertrand Beliveau II, NCIS Supervisory Special Agent – pleaded guilty to bribery and conspiracy charges in December 2013. Beliveau admitted to providing GDMA information on NCIS investigations into their business dealings.

    PO1 Daniel Layug, USN – pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery charges in May 2014. Layug was providing classified ship movement schedules to GDMA officials as well as competitor pricing information.

    Alex Wisidagama – former executive at GDMA and cousin of the GDMA CEO, Leonard Glenn Francis, pleaded guilty in May 2014 to participating in a scheme whereby GDMA grossly overcharged the US Navy for costs associated with services performed during port calls. In one such visit – by the USS Mustin to Laem Chabang, Thailand, in 2011 – the overcharges appear to have totaled $1.5M for a single port call.

    Edmond A. Aruffo, LCDR, USN (Retired) – pleaded guilty in July 2014 to participating in GDMA’s scheme to overcharge grossly the USN for costs associated port calls.

    So far, two other individuals – Leonard Glenn Francis, CEO of GDMA, and CDR Michael Vannak Khem Misiewicz, USN, have submitted and maintained “not guilty” pleas to bribery and conspiracy charges associated with the scandal.  Both are accused of bribery and conspiracy.  (Interestingly, Misiewicz is a former CO of the USS Mustin.)  He was indicted on seven additional charges recently – after CDR Sanchez pleaded guilty.

    Stay tuned.  This one continues to seem . . . interesting.

    Mordechai sends us a link from Albuquerque which tells us the story of Bradley Pfender, a military deserter who was apprehended at the Kennedy Middle School where he was taking laps on their track while about 200 students happened to be. School staff tried to tell him that he wasn’t allowed to use school facilities during school hours, but, of course, Brad was a dick;

    Pfender pointed to his headphones and kept jogging, Parsons said. Educational assistant Linda Kane-Parsons told police she also approached him, and he said, “(expletive) you, I’m finishing my run.”

    Parsons put out his hands to try to stop him, and Pfender said, “If you (expletive) get in the way of my run I’m going to embarrass you in front of all these kids,” according to the police report.

    Pfender shoved Parsons to the ground “with great force” before running toward the school’s basketball court, injuring Parsons’ chest, back, neck and legs. Pfender charged the principal, pointing his finger.

    “I went low and took him down in the middle of our students,” principal Edward Bortot wrote in his statement to police. He was injured on his left hand and right knee. A third teacher, special education teacher Catherine Jaramillo, said a group of teachers were holding him down but Pfender told them he couldn’t breathe. When they tried to move him he allegedly hit her over her left eye.

    Yeah, well, now the junior rocket scientist is facing battery charges in addition to answering the desertion warrant. I’m pretty sure they’d have more charges on him if he’d been allowed to hang out around middle school children, though. That rat on his face says “tickle monster”.

  • Navy Commander Pleads Guilty to Accepting Bribes

    Yesterday, CDR Jose Luis Sanchez pleaded guilty in Federal court to the crime of accepting bribes. He was the fifth individual and second member of the US Navy to plead guilty in connection with the Glenn Defense Marine Asia, Ltd. (AKA GDMA) scandal.  Prosecutors have alleged that this scandal was based on insider information and allowed GDMA to overbill the US Navy for support for years, costing Uncle Sam at least $20 million.

    Per this Fox News article,

    Sanchez admitted taking bribes valued between $30,000 and $120,000 from 2009 to 2013, including a prostitute, $7,500 to travel from Asia to the United States and five days at Singapore’s luxury Shangri-La Hotel, according to a 24-page plea agreement. In exchange, he provided classified Navy ship and submarine schedules and other internal information to Leonard Glenn Francis, chief executive of a Singapore-based company that provided services to vessels at ports.

    The other member of the USN to plead guilty so far – Petty Officer (precise rank not specified) Daniel Layug – also admitted to providing classified Navy shipping schedules to Francis.

    Francis – termed “Fat Leonard” by his confidants – was previously arrested (Sep 2013) on charges connected to the scandal. He has pleaded not guilty.

    Sanchez was arrested as part of the same bribery scandal for which CDR(P) Michael Vannak Khem Misiewicz – who Jonn’s previously written about here at TAH – was arrested about 16 months ago. Misiewicz was arrested on charges related to his own separate dealings with Leonard.  After being arrested, Misiewicz pleaded not guilty charges of conspiracy to commit bribery.

    Sanchez’s guilty plea yesterday included a five-page addendum that remains under seal. Perhaps coincidentally, CDR Misiewicz was indicted yesterday on seven (7) additional counts related to the scandal.  It does not appear that he’s yet entered a plea regarding the new charges against him.

    Sanchez is facing a maximum of 20 years in Federal prison. He’s currently out on bail awaiting sentencing. He apparently needs his own assets to pay his lawyers, so he’s convinced his mother and sister to back his bail bond with their assets.

    Personally, I hope the courts absolutely body-slam every one of these guys damned hard when they’re convicted.  To wit:   a minimum of 5 or 7 years hard time for each, and preferably closer to the max sentences allowed under law.

    That particularly goes for any military or Federal civilian personnel involved.  These people were in positions of public trust; they betrayed that trust for a pittance. I think each needs at least 5 years – and preferably more – to reflect on both their sh!tbaggery and the pittance they received for selling-out Uncle Sam’s interests.

    Was it worth it, assholes? Was it?

    Don’t answer right away. You can give us your answer when you get out of prison – if you ever do.

    It’s OK by me if you die behind bars. But that’s not my call.

At your age, I was on my second career, not living at my Mom’s house, I didn’t owe child support because I’m still married to the mother of my children. I never thought of embezzling money from my daughter’s softball league and I never ran up $800 in phone sex calls on my employer’s phone. Even if I took the post down, you exist all over the internet. There’s even a Ron Mailahn meme generator. So, no, it remains. Live with it.

    Whoops I have been discovered and now must pay my sins.

    I am the same slime bag as Lilyea and Seavey. I deserve to be tortured and shot for my mouth. I agree now that my torment to to others deserves a come back and I draw my curtains waiting for the debt settled in my mortal coil as to my big mouth.

    They think that they have tracked down Hack Stone, but as usual, they’re wrong. I doubt that they could find each others’ ass without chemlights. I sure hope they don’t hurt the guy they think is Hack. Then, of course, Wickre turns his guns towards us;

    Lilyea has been caught as well as his sado-masochistic buddy Seavey. Low lifes and scum, they interrupt others lives and inflame emotions in an anti-social sense stirring up riot.

    The band of malcontents are nearly traced and then we can begin the one-by-one legal reign in on each 28 year old anonymous attacker. Lilyea a punk, is dying. Seavey will be assasinated, by an angry husband.

    Lacking virtue education or any moral standing they truly sit at the gutter of the Internet dispensing pap to wierdo anti-social violent Vets.

    Two Anti-Christs or mob bosses, they have a punk and low life following. All will be discovered and all held to account.

    The blather from the Mil Kooks will be met with death and riot. You cant treat people that way. If you arouse the worst, you can expect the worst back.

    A fine life, now, with a gathering storm of enmity and hatred, each of the sociopaths can spend there days looking over there shoulders…

    Lilyea will die this year and Seavey’s sewn hatred will come back to him 7×7 into misery in his time.

    We’re trying to figure out who an angry husband might be that wants to kill TSO, and Wickre is the only one we can think of. And the 9000 other threats are invalidated – this is the one that is real. Gutless cowards.

    Andy11M sends us a link to the New York Post in regards to this Cody Michael Lee, a 23-year-old Army deserter who attached himself to a protest against something or other in New York City during the annual New Year’s Eve party there;

    Lee allegedly spat at the cops surrounding them and was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The prosecutor quoted him admitting to a cop as he was being driven away, “I had it coming.’’

    The ADA also said Lee had deserted the armed forces.

    I guess they released the little criminal on bail. I hope they won’t be surprised when he absconds. He doesn’t seem too big on commitments and responsibilities.

    The Army Times reports that the leadership at Fort Benning has concluded it’s investigation of LTC Gerald H. Green, the fellow who commanded the Fort Benning-based Army National Guard Warrior Training Center for a brief period before it was revealed that his Ranger and Sapper Tabs were of the pin-on variety, not of the earned variety;

    Because actions taken against Lt. Col. Gerald H. Green III were “administrative and not criminal in nature,” a Benning spokesman would not discuss details of the investigation.

    Benning spokesman Gary Jones would not comment on other findings from the investigation, including whether Green wore other unearned decorations. Green is authorized to wear a Bronze Star Medal among several other honors, including three awards of the Meritorious Service Medal and campaign medals from Iraq and Kosovo, according to personnel information provided by Jones to Army Times on Tuesday.

    Dude is still in uniform, though, even if that uniform is worn slightly different than it was before. I sure hope they keep him away from troops. But, it’s nice that the other officers are helping him get to his retirement. Isn’t it? Too bad Jim Calhoun, the WO2 who did the same thing essentially didn’t have friends like that.

    According to KRDO, this fellow, Jeremiah Perez, has been posting threatening comments on the internet towards police officers, calling himself Vets Hunting Cops as a screen name;

    On Dec. 17, Google contacted the FBI after seeing a comment on a YouTube post that said, “”SINCE DARREN WILSON our group has killed 6 retired sheriffs and cops……because of this event we will hunt two more in colorado this week…..for every innocent citizen that cops kill WE, VETERANS WILL KILL RETIRED HELPLESS COPS.” The threat further said, “COPS ARE THE REAL ENEMIES OF FREEDOM LOVING AMERICANS and TIME TO STRIKE BACK IN ALL OUT WAR IS NOW.”

    The FBI began investigating the user, “Vets Hunting Cops.” Agents traced the post to an IP address in Colorado Springs and began surveillance, the U.S. District Attorney’s office said.

    So, Perez has been arrested, as evidenced by the mug shot above. The affidavit filed by the US District Attorney claims that Perez was in the military, but it doesn’t mention which branch of service…not hard to figure out since he lives in Colorado Springs. But they also say that he was punished by the military before he left the service and he claims that he’s had some run ins with the police.

    FBI agents seized his computer. Perez’ recent searches include: “Kill Sara Palin,” “Kill Barack Obama,” “Kill Mitch McConnell,” “Calls to Assassinate GOP Leaders” and “Someone Kill Fox News.” He also looked up Beaver Creek City Police Department and the address for Fox News Headquarters.

    Perez said that he posed as “Vets Hunting Cops” since he “realized that other groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan, offer legitimacy to their arguments be being part of a large organization.” Along with threats directed at law enforcement, Perez allegedly wrote that he “cant wait to kill you fake patriots on the right.”

    A real rocket surgeon. At least he’s off the street. There are two Jeremiah Perez in AKO, but neither are this guy. He faces five years in a federal pen and a quarter-million-dollar fine, according to KKTV.

    Bobo sends us a link to the Stars & Stripes article which announces the conviction of LTC Raymond Valas for soliciting for sex with a minor girl while he was on temporary duty (TDY) to San Antonio a year ago August;

    Valas faces between 10 years and life in federal prison when he is sentenced on Feb. 27, 2015. He was taken into federal custody after the verdict was read.

    When Valas was indicted in August, Gov. Maggie Hassan ordered Valas barred from state property. He was then deputy operations officer for Joint Force Headquarters, NHARNG. He was allowed to telework.

    Public Affairs Officer Lt. Col. Greg Heilshorn said Friday: “We are beginning the process of separating (Valas) from the National Guard.” He will be stripped of all benefits and privileges.

    Valas had said that he was interviewing the 15-year-old for a research paper on sex trafficking, the jury didn’t believe him.
