  • Phony fakes deployment, all the way to the bank

    Dan sends us a link to KOMO News, Seattle which tells the tale of a King County jail officer, Jose Abarca, who told his employers he was deploying and presented phony orders to support his lie and eventually bilked everyone out of over a hundred thousand dollars, well, until he got caught;

Writing the court, a Seattle detective claimed Abarca submitted a set of falsified orders in February 2010. After that fake deployment, the detective continued, Abarca filed eight leave requests for shorter period of time.

At the time, Abarca was actually being discharged from the National Guard for medical reasons, the detective continued. He was not allowed to attend drills or training for much of that time.

Abarca has been charged with first-degree theft and forgery. He has not been jailed in the case.

Well, now he gets another free vacation from work.

  • George Michaels suffers from PTSD

Yes, I put the “D” on the end of that because in this case it truly is a disorder. Old Trooper sends us a link to an article about George Michaels who cancelled his tour of Australia because he says that he suffer from post-tramatic stress because he had a bout with pneumonia last year says The Telegraph.

“By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year’s illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience.

“They recommended complete rest and the type of post traumatic counselling which is available in cases like mine but I’m afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself.”

Yeah, OK, I just went through pneumonia myself a few weeks ago, and I’m telling you that if that’s all it takes to claim PTS, either Michaels or his doctors, or both, are crying-ass sissies. Nothing like lowering the bar for PTS so that anyone can claim it for anything as simple as lung congestion. I’ll bet it was tough choking down those big pills for five days.

  • Hasan still on borrowed time

The Associated Press reports that Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood murderer, is still drawing breaths after being released from Fort Hood’s Darnall Hospital and he’s been returned to his cell at the Bell County, TX jail.

Authorities have not said why Hasan was taken to the hospital Saturday, but he was listed in good condition earlier this week.

His former defense attorney, John Galligan, said he believes Hasan was hospitalized over problems related to his incontinence, although he has not spoken to his former client in more than a year. Hasan has had health problems stemming from his catheter, including blood in his urine, about a year ago, Galligan said.

Too bad he couldn’t shit himself to death – a fitting demise. They could have surgically removed his beard while they had his ass in the hospital.

  • Iran shuts down internet

Nik sends us the news that Iran has warned it’s citizens that has shut down Google and they’re preparing to completely shut down access to the worldwide web.

On Sunday, the Iranian state television network announced that Google and Gmail would be blocked “within a few hours.” The ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Meanwhile, a government deputy minister announced they were going to put all their citizens in a “domestic internet network.” While Iran has blocked sites that go against the government’s views in the past, this will cut citizens off the internet completely.

This time they are planning to take everyone off the grid and into their own government-controlled corral. People are not longer going to be able to use virtual private networks to bypass governmental censorship and access information freely.

This is probably in reaction to the Arab Autumn although the government is saying it’s to prevent infiltration by the Zionists. This while Ahmadinejad is in New York at the UN calling everyone names and saying that Israel will be “eliminated”. Apparently the Israel delegation walked out of the General Assembly, while Susan Rice and her gang sat their happy asses through the entire tirade.

  • Hasan Hospitalized

    Good, I hope it’s painful….

[Ft. Hood] post spokesman Chris Haug said Hasan was admitted Saturday to Darnall Community Army Hospital at Ft. Hood. Neither the cause nor his condition was known.

Let’s hope he was “knicked” while getting shaved…dick…

The rest is at my SA (San Antonio)

  • Rivera apprehended at Canadian border

BBC reports that Kimberly Rivera, who we’ve been anxiously waiting to return and face her punishment, has turned herself in at the border crossing near Fort Drum, NY. But let’s look at the BBC article, shall we?

Kimberly Rivera, a mother of four, had claimed refugee status in Canada, but she was ordered to leave last month.

Yeah, she’s a mother of four, but two of those children were born in Canada since she defected. So being a mother of four shouldn’t get her much sympathy when we realize that the children were created to strengthen her claim as a refugee. And is she really a refugee? How many women have been excused from deployment when they simply applied? I’m sure there were a lot. I know of a few by name.

On Thursday she voluntarily went to a border crossing in New York State, where she placed into military custody, anti-war campaigners say.

She faces between two and five years in prison, her lawyer said.

Um, no she went to the border station because Canada threw her big ass out, hardly voluntarily. Maybe she wasn’t escorted by Canadian authorities, but it wasn’t of her own free will. Even in the article, BBC says that the two men who’ve been imprisoned for the same offense only sent a year locked up, so how can they say “between two and five years” with a straight face?

Ms Rivera served in the Iraq war in 2006, but on her return to the US said she had become disillusioned with its cause and thought it was “immoral”.

She went to Canada with her husband and children while on leave and between deployments in 2007.

No, she wasn’t “between deployments”. The Army let her go home on leave WHILE she was deployed to Iraq and instead of returning to Iraq, she absconded to Canada and left her fellow soldiers in Iraq short handed and probably at least delayed their own leaves at mid deployment. She’s, in the parlance of the day, a “Blue Falcon”.

As I explained earlier today, her obese and extremely lazy husband got moody as she got closer to the time she had to return to Iraq and complete her deployment and that’s what made her go AWOL, not some sudden disillusionment with the war, like the Beeb says. Read the Marie Claire interview if you don’t believe me.

You’d think that BBC would get at least part of the article correct. And I wonder how many of those 200 they claim deserted and absconded to Canada were like Corey Glass who went to Canada, applied for refugee status even though he’d been discharged from the Army months before he went to Canada and wasn’t even a deserter?

Thanks to Aunty Brat for the link.

  • …until the cows come home…

    Army deserter, Kim Rivera is due to be deported from Canada today, along with her brood. We’ve been writing about Rivera and her brood since January, 2009. She’s been ordered out of Canada several times, but the appeals process always seems to get in the way. But this one seems inevitable, says CBC, despite the fact that pesky Desmond Tutu is trying to interfere;

The War Resisters Support Campaign, who organized a demonstration in Toronto Wednesday evening calling on Immigration Minister Jason Kenney to stop Rivera’s deportation order, say she could face a court martial and time behind bars when she returns to the U.S.

Efforts to permit Rivera to stay here have also attracted some high-profile supporters, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu

“The deportation order given to Ms. Rivera is unjust and must be challenged,” Tutu wrote earlier this week in a commentary published in the Globe and Mail.

“It’s in times when people are swept up in a frenzy of war that it’s most important to listen to the quiet voices speaking the truth. Isn’t it time we begin to redress the atrocity of this war by honouring those such as Ms. Rivera who had the courage to stand against it at such cost to themselves?”

Yeah, go read the Marie Claire interview where she said she went AWOL because her obese husband who forced her to join the Army got moody because he had to stay home and take care of the kids while she was in Iraq, because taking care of kids is harder than going to war, apparently.

It’s unfortunate that her husband can’t be tossed in jail, too, but we’ll see how he likes taking care of their herd while she’s rotting in jail.

Thanks to Aunty Brat for the link.

  • One Way to Finance Retirement

Unless, of course, you get caught.

Seems as if a recently-retired Army Master Sergeant decided his retired pay would be less than he and his wife desired.  So starting in 2004, for about 6 years he and his wife took measures to ensure a better retirement.

Unfortunately, those measures weren’t legal.  He was making illicit requisitions, ripping off the incoming property, and selling it.  She was helping him launder the money.

They got caught.  And about three weeks ago they pleaded guilty in Federal criminal court.

He got 40 months in prison, plus was required to forfeit $861,000 and four properties.  She pleaded guilty to money laundering, but only got 5 years probation.

I kinda wish James H. “Bigamist” Johnson III had had the same judge and jury.
