  • For Once, Justice

    I have to hand it to the Brits this time around.  In spite of their bizarre (by US standards) laws regarding firearms and opposition to capital punishment, they still appear to take murder seriously.

    Even when it’s an honor killing.

    Nine years ago, Shafilea Ahmed disappeared.  Her body was found in 2004.

    Turns out it was an honor killing.  Her own parents killed her in front of her siblings for “bringing dishonor on the family”.

    How did she “dishonor her family”?  By wearing jeans and makeup, wanting to be a lawyer, and resisting an arranged marriage.

    However, killing her in front of her siblings was a mistake.  One was later arrested for burglary – and turned state’s evidence against the parents.

    Gee, I wonder why?  You mean murdering one of your own kids in front of their siblings isn’t a good way to ensure their loyalty and love?

    Earlier this year, Shafilea’s parents – Iftikhar and Farzana Ahmed – were convicted of her murder.  They received life sentences.  Under English law, that means they’ll serve at least 25 years.  By then both will be in their 70s.

    Hopefully they’ll die in prison vice ever see another day of freedom.  And then they’ll have a chance to explain their acts to Allah – and, possibly, to Shaytan as well.

    Many Islamic extremists subscribe to conservative forms of Islam that condone honor killings.  They also want to eventually impose Shaira worldwide.

    We should probably remember that.

  • So . . . There’s No Voter Fraud in America, Eh?

    Well, then, explain the fact that former state Rep. Hudson Hallum, a Democrat from eastern Arkansas, and three others are awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit election fraud.  He’s now facing up to 5 years in Federal prison and a $250,000 fine.  Five others were also charged and apparently are still awaiting trial.

    The scheme included buying votes outright, with cash or in-kind bribes; discussions of procuring discounted liquor with which to bribe prospective voters (not executed); illegally providing absentee ballots directly to voters; “helping” people to fill out absentee ballots; and outright destruction of absentee ballots cast for Hallum’s opponent, Kim Felker.  All of this is, obviously, illegal as hell.

    Did Hallum’s and his co-conspirator’s crimes change the outcome?  I think it’s safe to say, “Damn right they did.”

    Hallum had a majority of 394 votes to 67 in absentee votes alone in the election in question; no one knows how many votes he bought outright.  Hallum won the election by 8 votes.

    This is one example of why it’s not necessarily a good idea to bend over backwards to make voting too easy and convenient. In particular, allowing unrestricted voting-by-mail simply because it’s “easy and convenient” just might not be a good idea at all.

    Why?  Because everything you do to make voting more “convenient” or “easier” almost always presents an additional opportunity for vote fraud.  And when there’s an opportunity for fraud, sooner or later someone will attempt it.

  • 8th Circuit reverses panel on Westboro decision

    In 2007, Manchester, Missouri wrote an ordinance in response to the spate of protests at funerals by the Westboro “Baptist Church” group which took to protesting at soldiers’ funerals. A three-judge panel had previously forbade the town from enforcing their law, but the 8th Circuit overturned that panel’s decision, according to the Associated Press;

    A lawsuit claiming the Manchester ordinance violated free speech rights was filed by Shirley Phelps-Roper, a Westboro member and daughter of pastor Fred Phelps.

    The Manchester ordinance allows for protest activities but with limitations. Among them: Protesters are not allowed within 300 feet (100 meters) of a funeral or burial service while it is occurring and for one hour before and one hour after.

    Eighth Circuit Judge Diana Murphy wrote that the ordinance “serves a significant government interest, it is narrowly tailored, and it leaves open ample alternative channels for communication.”

    In case you missed it, here’s some video of a soldier who liberated a defaced American flag from some Westboro fags at a funeral for SGT Donna Johnson in Raeford, NC this past weekend. Probably a poor decision for Westboro to protest near Fort Bragg. All reports are that the soldier was released without being charged.

    TSO ADDS: For those that want to read the case, you can do so here. It should be noted that our success in this case is a result of the Snyder v. Phelps case that we lost. In finding against Snyder, the court did say that time/place/manner restrictions are constitutionally valid.

  • If you would have served our country better you would not be a disabled veteran (Updated)

    It seems that a Disabled Veteran is suing a bill collector for the statements he received about a undisclosed outstanding debt. According to Michael Collier was told the following statement when he refused to allow is military benefits to be used towards the debts.

    Mr Collier is according the the link disabled with a neck and spine injury at rated with a 100% disability rating. Earlier this year a court had ruled his benefits could not be garnished in May 2012, the funds have not been given back.

    Collier says he called Gurstel’s office, and an unidentified paralegal told him he would have to sue to get the money. When he said the money was exempt veteran disability payments, “the assistant told Michael, ‘F— you! Pay us your money! You can’t afford an attorney. You owe us. I hope your wife divorces your a–. If you would have served our country better you would not be a disabled veteran living off social security while the rest of us honest Americans work our a– off. Too bad; you should have died.’” (Spelling as in complaint.)

    Mr Collier is planning on legal action.

    The Colliers seek actual damages, statutory damages, and punitive damages for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, conversion, privacy invasion, and malicious infliction of emotional distress.

    The debt collector is right. American wars help no one and soldiers are criminals…

    Typical America. Ah well i have no sympathy for any American. Wake up and rise against your pathetic Governments and corrupt politicians and criminal corperates, bankers, and zionists. Its time for a revolution.

    This Faker isn’t the only US military veteran living off Social Security while the rest of us honest Americans work. As paid Mercenaries they Volunteer for the military because they’re too stupid to go to college and too lazy to get real jobs. Working for the military they learn theretofore unknown skills like basic hygiene, how to make their own beds and polish their shoes. Once discharged they get free education, affirmative-action in hiring and promotion for civilian jobs, free lifetime healthcare at the VA and a host of other benefits. Once civilians, the many that are criminals, drug addicts and drunks now have the lifetime excuse — “I was traumatized in the service”. We need to bring back the draft and eliminate all exemptions so that the military better reflects the regular society and is not comprised so disproportionate of society’s dregs.

    Update Sporkmaster: It seem that JM has found some more information on the law firm in question.

  • Canadian officer convicted of espionage

    The Associated Press reports that Canadian courts heard intelligence officer Sub-Lt. Jeffrey Paul Delisle’s guilty plea today for selling secrets to the Russians and earning a tidy $3000/month salary;

    [H]e voluntarily entered the Russian embassy in Ottawa in 2007 and offered to sell information to them.

    [,,,]

    He came to the authorities’ attention when he was returning from a trip to Brazil to meet a Russian handler in the fall of 2011, [Federal prosecutor Lyne] Decarie said. He was carrying several thousand dollars after staying the country only four days, raising the suspicions of Canada Border Services agents who shared their concerns with the police and military.

    [Defense lawyer Mike] Taylor said at no time did his client put any Canadian troops in danger.

    “There was no information that indicated where troops were or ships were,” he said.

    The AP says that he faces life in prison under the Canadians’ Security of Information Act which passed just after 9-11-01. Delisle claims that he tried to forfeit his deal with the Russians, but they made threats towards his family. Funny how you can’t trust anyone these days. Even the Russians.

    In related news, the Russian foreign minister is complaining that they can’t get along with NATO;

    Sergey Lavrov said Wednesday that Moscow is continuing to seek guarantees that the planned shield wouldn’t pose a threat to Russia’s nuclear forces. He said the failure to negotiate a settlement was rooted in Washington’s refusal to accept any limitations on the missile shield.

    So much for trust.

  • A confession

    For those of you who have been watching the comedic drama in the Dallas Wittgenfeld discussion; we’ve had his orders for his CIB for months. Well, Hondo had the orders and emailed me about them. So, I’ll admit that I was wrong when I guessed that he didn’t deserve the CIB. Having admitted that, since we had the orders, we didn’t bring up the issue again, mostly because Wittgenfeld also claimed to have a Bronze Star Medal with a “V” in interviews and because he claimed that somehow he was authorized to wear the green beret. Now he claims that reporters got the story wrong and his sole defender thinks that sending us a set of orders for an Army Commendation Medal with a “Valor” device somehow proved that his claims of the Bronze Star are true. So which is it? Did the reporters get the story wrong or is an ARCOM with a “V” the same thing as a BSM?

    We’ve never questioned the ARCOM, so sending the orders for it just plugged up my inbox with more crap.

    I apologize that we didn’t come clean on the CIB sooner, and by the way, the Wittgenfeld Stolen Valor Cabal just coughed the orders up last night, he’s been telling us for months that he had the orders, too, but never produced them.

  • Micah Turner; the wanted man no one wants

    The good folks at US News and World Reports send us a link to their latest article on Micah Turner. It seems that he’s so wanted that no one wants to touch him. According to the article, He’s tried to turn himself into the New York City police and to authorities at Fort Hamilton, but he’s still on the loose;

    Alison Kohler, a spokeswoman for Fort Hamilton, confirmed to U.S. News that Turner had “made contact with our installation” and said that he was expected to arrive Tuesday for processing. It is unclear whether Turner will face charges for his absence, though he previously said he believed he would face felony charges.

    Um, today is Tuesday, right? The article continues that he’s headed to Buffalo to link up with the filthy hippies up there. I know we have more than a few friends up there who can land a good throat punch for us.

    Whoever said that he was an illustrator in a pschyops unit called it correctly. I guess that’s why he couldn’t stand to support the war against terror any longer – the things he colored haunt his dreams. And the memory of that time his crayon went outside the line still wakes him up in a cold sweat. Or something.

    Turner told the assembled audience in New York Sunday that he was in Afghanistan the night al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan, and remembered his fellow soldiers asking “Is the war over? Should we pack up?”

    “But the word never came, and a lot of good men died that year,” said Turner. “There is no justification for this war. There is no reason our brothers and sisters should die in the sand… It is my duty to dissent.”

    Yeah, thanks. We need a cartoonist to tell us how we should formulate foreign policy. The US News says that Turner was promoted to Sergeant last September, well after bin laden was killed, so I guess he didn’t mind the pay raise while he thought the war should have been over. The Army also says that they only have a record of one deployment, August 2009 to February 2010, despite Turner’s claim that he has four deployments. His deployment dates don’t coincide with the death of bin Laden (May 1, 2011) like he claims, either. Of course, he claims that Army records are screwed up, but we should believe the criminal on the lamb.

  • Stolen valor wedding

    You Marines are going to love these two guys, the wedding couple dressed as stylized Marine four-star generals; “The couple wore military designed Nehru jackets accented with officer eagle globe and anchor collar insignia, gold eagle buttons, four star epaulettes…”

    But President Obama sent his congratulations, so they have that going for them;

    Thanks to Mary at Fake Warriors for the heads up.
