  • Kokesh on why veterans support Ron Paul

    DSC_0026

    Yesterday, while I was at the rally for Ron Paul, I infiltrated the “inner-circle” and found Adam Kokesh and, of course he recognized me. But, he was a little confused about how I found my way past security, but he forgets that I’m a charming little fucker. We shook hands and he said I was welcomed to the rally, which was gracious enough, I suppose. But I can’t help but wonder what he said after I left.

    So I stayed at the party long enough to hear Adam Kokesh explain why Ron Paul is the choice of all of the troops he knows. He said Ron Paul is decisive, which, I’m sure he is, and that’s part of the problem. His decisions suck ass.

    Kokesh said that Paul will only send the troops into combat with a “declaration of war” and only when our security is threatened. I guess he meant that George Bush didn’t have a declaration of war to fight in Iraq, but he did have the “Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002”. Ron Paul (and five other Republicans) joined the 126 Democrats who voted against it, so just because Paul voted against it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

    And Paul voted for Bill Clinton’s Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, which authorized the use of force to replace Saddam Hussein, so what was different in 2002 that wasn’t in 1998? Of course, the same could be asked of those 126 Democrats.

    And I suppose that Paul won’t commit the military to a fight until an enemy has blockaded our seaports. By that time it’s probably too late to fight, so Paul can just go down in history as our last President. If crashing jets into our buildings isn’t a reason to respond to an enemy, I don’t know what would trigger a response.

    It’s just that the Paulians are just so naive when it comes to national defense. It’s an almost child-like reaction based around the policy that “war is bad”. I agree, but there are times that it’s necessary. And putting our national security in the hands of a guy who claims that his national security experience stems from his military service, which was as an OB/GYN Air Force doctor in the 60s is immature, at the least. Especially from the same people who think that being a fighter pilot in the Texas National Guard is a joke.

    As i estimated yesterday, the rally attracted less than a thousand people, and at the last count, more than half of them were not veterans, even fewer were actual combat veterans, which might explain why our resident trolls think Ron Paul is a good idea.

    See, here’s the thing about Kokesh’s anti-war stance; he was trying to go back to Iraq before he got busted with an Iraqi pistol he’d smuggled back. After the legal dust cleared, he applied to go back to the war, but the Marines decided that he didn’t deserve that opportunity and a few months after that, he became anti-war. So you decide for yourselves if this is sour grapes.

  • “Ron Paul is the choice of the military veterans”

    Well, that’s what Adam Kokesh told the crowd based on the number at this rally. If I had to guess, I’d say there were a few hundred participants, but less than a thousand, though. I know that won’t jibe with their numbers, but, I’m being generous. You can guess from this video of the crowd;

  • Be thankful, Adam

    Adam Kokesh, an IVAW member and Ron Paul supporter complains that the military is enforcing their policy of prohibiting members of the military publicly supporting a presidential candidate during the Ron Paul Rally he’s scheduled for Monday morning – the rally that specifically announces themselves as members of the military who support a presidential candidate;

    The letter reads;

    Subject: [ETHICS] Partisan Political March
    Importance: High

    It has come to our attention that a partisan political march targeting military personnel is being organized for February 20, 2012.

    As a reminder, active duty personnel are prohibited by DoD Directive 1344.10 paragraph 4.1.2.10 from marching in a partisan political parade regardless of whether they are in uniform or civilian clothes. Reservists not on active duty and retirees may not march in uniform pursuant to paragraph 4.1.4. Reservists not on active duty and retirees may march in civilian clothes provided that they do not otherwise act in a manner that could reasonably give rise to the inference or appearance of official sponsorship, approval, or endorsement.

    The directive is a lawful general regulation. Violations of paragraphs 4.1. through 4.5. of the Directive by persons subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice are punishable under Article 92, “Failure to Obey Order or Regulation.”

    In addition, DODI 1334.01, paragraph 3.1.2 prohibits the wearing of the uniform by members of the armed forces (including retired members and members of reserve components) during or in connection with political activities.

    You may wish to advise your command regarding this particular event because of the apparent solicitation of active duty personnel.

    It’s a law, Adam. it’s not like the military had a choice whether or not they had to advise members of their responsibilities to their oaths. It wasn’t written just to victimize Ron Paul supporters. It pertains to members of the military who want to support the President, too.

    Your march is named as members of the military, which is “apparent solicitation of active duty personnel”.

    Adam should be thanking the Navy for the letter, now he has an excuse when participation is quite a bit less than he expects. Regardless, I’ll be there to photographically record the rally for posterity on Monday morning.

    Thanks to Carolyn for the link.

  • The lunacy

    I know, how many different ways can I call Gordon Duff a crackpot? It’s obvious to me that he’s trying to get someone to lock him in a rubber room and get a free straight jacket for chilly winter nights. In today’s missive, he declares that bin laden was one of George Bush’s close personal friend, known to Bush as “Tim”;

    President George W. Bush knew Osama bin Laden was a CIA agent and in no way ever involved in 9/11.

    He knew bin Laden personally from family visits and knew bin Laden had been to the White House while living in the US under the cover name of “Tim Osmon.”

    This has been verified by CIA officials.

    And, oh, by the way, the CIA was seeking medical treatment for bin Laden who was living in San Diego. And apparently, he was “murdered” by American troops when they came looking for him in San Diego and he was forced to leave behind his dialysis machine.

    Of course, Bush also planned to take credit for bin Laden’s demise, but a helicopter crash put the kibosh on his dastardly intentions.

    Several days later, an “official” helicopter crash happened to account for the deaths of those who died on the staged phony bin Laden killing, victims of poor planning and a helicopter pilot who flew into a wall when his night vision goggles were disabled by light sources on the ground. I’ve been to this dance once or twice before.

    Doubling down on the crazy, Duff accuses our troops of waging nuclear war against terrorists;

    Were all killed in the War on Terror, nearly 1.4 million dead, murder victims including some found to have died of radiation sickness, not from Depleted Uranium but from the illegal use of nuclear weapons by US forces.

    Yeah, that would be easy to keep quiet, wouldn’t it with even one more Brad Manning out there, just waiting to dish on the US to get their boyfriends back.

    As always, the scariest part of the article is that there are bobble-heads who knew all of this all along nodding and cheering from the comments section. Every last one of them calling for the election of Ron Paul to straighten all of this shit out.

  • Fun Is Where You Find It

    According to two of my favorite people February 20 is the time and DC is the place to be?

    We, the founders of Veterans for Ron Paul 2012, Nathan Cox and Adam Kokesh, invite you to join us for a veterans and active duty march for Ron Paul on President’s Day, Monday, February 20th. We hope to send the message from now until “Super Tuesday,” March 6th, that RON PAUL IS THE CHOICE OF THE TROOPS! We have applied for a proper permit from the Parks Department and DC MPD.

    Nope, this is NOT one of my Sunday Silly posts.  It’s the Real Deal.

    I hope to be there.

    ETA (edited to add) Been told that this is old news here.  At my age I welcome reminders. [shrug] Doesn’t mean a heads-up don’t matter.

  • Rand Paul accosted by TSA at airport

    Old Trooper sends a link from ABC News that Rand Paul set off alarms at the airport in nashville. When he refused the pat down, he was escorted out of the secure area;

    “When an irregularity is found during the TSA screening process, it must be resolved prior to allowing a passenger to proceed to the secure area of the airport,” according to an official statement released by TSA. “Passengers who refuse to complete the screening process cannot be granted access to the secure area in order to ensure the safety of others traveling.”

    Paul’s office confirmed he set off an airport security full-body scanner “on a glitch,” according to a spokesman.

    The Paul staffer said TSA agents would not let Paul walk back through the body scanner and were demanding a full body pat-down.

    The Paul spokesman said his office called TSA administrator John Pistole about the incident this morning.

    Like TSO said, it’s like watching A-Rod wrestling with the devil…who do you cheer for? I think the story would have been better if they’d stop Paul because he was on a no-fly list for being a suspected crank or for his apparent connections to Adam Kokesh.

  • Veterans for Ron Paul to march on White House

    Looking for what I expected to be an irrational response to the results of the South Carolina primary in which Ron Paul came in fourth in field of four, I stumbled over this news at the Daily Paul;

    On President’s Day, February 20th, 2012, the founders of Veterans for Ron Paul 2012, Nathan Cox and Adam Kokesh, will lead a formation of veterans and active duty troops who support Ron Paul’s candidacy for President of the United States from the Washington Monument to the White House. Upon arrival at the White House, they will do an about face and render a hand salute to a folded American flag surrounded by family members of military personnel and veterans. They will hold the salute for as many seconds as troops have died under the Presidency of Barrack Obama.

    The purpose of this event is to make it clear to the American people that Ron Paul is the choice of the troops and the candidate who will have the greatest support from those he would lead as commander-in-chief. This is already evidence by the fact that Ron Paul has recieved [sic] more campaign contributions from active duty service members than all other presidential candidates combined, INCLUDING Barrack Obama.

    Yeah, I’m sure that anyone who would associate themselves with a group founded by Adam Kokesh is rational and interested in our national security. I guess the excitement of smuggling raw milk and dancing in the Jefferson Memorial has lost it’s luster for Kokesh.

    ROS sent us a link the other day to Open Secrets’ report on Ron Paul’s contributions and it appears that not only are active duty members contributing more to the Paul campaign than any other, they’re also his largest contributors;

    But that’s out of a total of $8 million that Paul has raised which, in turn is less than 20% of what Barack Obama has raised. So it’s no wonder that the paulians want to convince the members of the military that they should send him money.

    Even if there is a large turnout at this White House rally, don’t be fooled by the numbers. As with everything else, the Paulians intend to pad their numbers. This comment from the rally’s Facebook page;

    He sounds like a candidate for the Jesse MacBeth Chair at IVAW. He knew someone who is a veteran, so he plans to speak for them. Grow a pair and enlist, then speak for veterans, numbnuts.

    From The State Column;

    Mr. Paul’s popularity among members of the military is evidenced by the number of active members of the military who donate to his campaign. Mr. Paul led his fellow GOP candidates and President Barack Obama in donations from active members of the military in the the 3Q 2011. In fact, Mr. Paul raised more money from active members of the military than all of his fellow GOP competitors combined.

    Actually, it doesn’t mean that at all, it means that more Paulians are willing to identify themselves as members of the military on their donation forms and that taken in the reverse, the number of donors to the number of people on active duty, Ron Paul’s support in the military is statistically insignificant.

    I might actually travel to this rally at the White House next month and get a feel for the number of real veterans who actually attend. Anyone else up for a road trip?

    And, oh, yeah, if I need to remind you, Ron Paul endorsed Adam Kokesh during Kokesh’s run at the New Mexico 3rd Congressional District seat two years ago.

    “Adam Kokesh has dedicated his life to fighting for Liberty. He has set himself apart as one of the bold young leaders our Country sorely needs as we strive to restore our Freedoms and what has made America the greatest nation in history. I am very happy that Adam has decided to run for Congress and wholeheartedly endorse him.”

  • Ron Paul, the turd in the conservative punchbowl

    I’m staying off of the debate for the Republican primaries…you may have noticed. Except for expressing my extreme displeasure with Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, I’m just not getting involved. You guys pick the candidate, and I’ll vote for him.

    But, I did see some footage this morning of Ron Paul in last night’s debate and it should be discouraging for anyone who wants the best GOP candidate for the office. I’m pretty sure that, in the realm of foreign policy, Ron Paul is no better than the current occupant of the White House.

    Last night he said something to the effect of “Of course people hate us, what with us flying around dropping bombs on all of these countries”. I can’t find the exact quote anywhere on the internet, which doesn’t surprise me very much since the media wants Paul to be the GOP candidate. It’s not even listed in today’s Washington Post‘s “jaw-dropping quotes” from last night’s debate.

    Since when do we care if people hate us? Is that what our foreign policy should be based upon…making people like us? And the last time I checked, we were dropping bombs on people who kill Americans, or want to kill Americans. Are they all that worried about whether we like them or not?

    A Ron Paul presidency would return us to a pre-1941 level of defense. Our troops will be carrying 2x4s to simulate rifles and driving cardboard tanks. His supporters include Code Pink and Michael Moore, who’ve been opposed to attacking our enemies since 9/11, so what are these Paulian people thinking? Or are they thinking? Their favorite advice to me is “read a book” or “do your own research”. But they appear to be the most uneducated, inexperienced buffoons on the planet.

    ADDED: I just saw this on Facebook from Jim Treacher;

    Some people think Ron Paul is confused and scatterbrained, but that’s only based on all available evidence.
