    Ah, the truly unpleasant side of the radical left is finally rearing its ugly, maggot-ridden head.

    Tucker Carlson, one of Fox News’s commentators, was not at home Wednesday night when his home and cars were attacked by Antifas. The AFs posted a video of the incident on Twitter, but it has since been taken down and their account was suspended.

    This is not a group of men dressing up like Indians and boarding a moored ship in Boston Harbor to protest the British Tea Act and taxation without representation.

    This is far beyond that, done for the sole purpose of terrorizing people whose views are different from those of liberals.

    Out of this comes a minor surprise. The rival networks are now saying “This is not right.”  Uh, what? No gloating?

    “Something @CNN and @foxnews can agree on: it’s completely unacceptable to threaten a TV host and his/her family,” said a tweet from CNN’s communications team.

    Other rival members of the media expressed the same sentiment.

    “Fighting Tucker Carlson’s ideas is an American right. Targeting his home and terrorizing his family is an act of monstrous cowardice. Obviously don’t do this, but also, take no pleasure in it happening. Feeding monsters just makes more monsters,” CBS late night host Stephen Colbert wrote on Twitter.

    “The ‘group’ that staged this action call themselves anti-fascist. Do they understand how fascist is it to attack a family home like this?,” wrote NPR’s Scott Simon. “Denounce him on Twitter.. Boycott his sponsors. Not this.”

    Why are those with views opposing Carlson’s reacting like this? Simple: they got a wake-up call out of it. If Fox’s Carlson and Ted Cruz can be attacked, so can they. Whereas before this, they were smug and self-involved, this has rattled their chains.

    I expect to see more such things before this is over, and when/if it happens, I hope it hits those smug, toffee-nosed clankers just as hard as it hits conservative people. Let’s keep a weather eye on it. N.B.: I do NOT wish anyone any harm or ill will, but a sharp dose of reality will do them a lot of good.

    Your thoughts on the election results?

    I downloaded a sample ballot for my city. We had one contest for the Senate, and another for the House of Representatives, a couple of constitutional amendment proposals for the state constitution, and the rest of the options were for local offices.

    Even though I knew the party affiliations of the candidates running for federal office, I still looked through their websites.

    No party affiliation was listed for local candidates. But, there was a roundabout way to identify their leanings.

    Candidates for mayor and city Council… If they appeared to buy into the “sea-level rise” canard, their names became toxic. Making it easier for people to start and operate a business via practical economic solutions? That got my vote.

    Candidates for Board of Education… If they argued in favor of returning merit-based incentives like designating the valedictorian, allowing more leeway to give zeros for not submitting a homework, allowing for point penalizing for below standard work, etc., they got my vote.

    One candidate’s comment regarding sea-level rise related problems… Clearing out canals. Now, if the sea levels are rising, and our city is looking at becoming a part of the sea floor, how exactly is clearing out canals, or more dredging operations, going to solve the problem?

    Is that supposed to lower sea levels from the city?

    Tragically, in this local area, as well as in local areas across the country, many low information voters go full NPC on important topics like this.

    Sea-level “rise” isn’t the problem.

    The ground has a limited ability to naturally process rain water. Once the ground’s saturation/absorb rate is reached, water starts ponding. Result? Water ponds above the ground, flooding occurs. This should be a bases for arguing for improving our drainage systems.

    Then we have the issue involving high and low tide, but that’s an ongoing process.

  • Yesterday’s Election Results: A Semi-Feel-Good Story

    Not a great day for the Republic yesterday, but not a bad one either.

    In Georgia as well as in Florida, the Communist Socialist “Progressive” candidates running for Governor both appear to have lost.

    In Texas, the drunk-driving, ex-punk rocker Communist Socialist “Progressive” candidate for Senate – lost in spite of apparent out-of-state, Hollywood celebrity-led attempts to buy the Senate seat for him through massive fundraising.

    While the House was lost to the Prevaricating Promisers from the Pandering Progressive Party (the incumbent President’s party virtually always loses a number of House seats in mid-term elections, often losing control of the House), the Senate remained in adult hands with an even larger adult majority. So any Federal offices requiring Senate confirmation will still be considered by a majority consisting of adults vice dung-flinging SJW howler monkeys.

    And if any rank idiocy from the Pandering Progressives manages to get by the Senate . . . well, the current POTUS has a pen and knows how to use it, too. Good luck in overriding a veto.

    All but one of the Senators standing for re-election in competitive states who participated that organized campaign to destroy a good man’s reputation using highly suspect – and in some cases, outright fabricated – bogus testimony . . . lost. (Why West Virginia voters didn’t kick their jerk to the curb is beyond me.)

    And, finally: guess which one of these guys (well, the term technically also applies to the one on the left) had the last laugh?

    You can call him “Congressman Hit Man” now, Davidson. (Well, you could if you were truly a man vice a smarmy, butthurt little twerp who gets a kick out of mocking better men than yourself because of their combat-related disabilities.) (smile)

     

    Added Postscript: Oh, and it looks like Taylor Swift will be eating a bit of crow today, too. Hope you like it, lady. A dry rub with garlic and chili powder might help.

  • In Regard to Ratifying the ERA

    When the Equal Rights Amendment was put into formal context of both language and legal status in 1972, it was in the form of a new amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In the original vote count, by 1977, the legislatures of 35 states had approved the amendment. Since then, two more states, Nevada in 2017 and Illinois in 2018, have voted to ratify the Amendment.

    Only one more state is needed to pass the US Equal Rights Amendment. This article from NYT tells us that since Illinois voted to approve the Equal Rights Amendment at the federal level in May this year, there is only one more state needed to complete the process of full ratification, making the ERA a federal law.

    Phyllis Schlafly’s arguments included everyone using a common public restroom, and women being drafted. Well, okay, the unisex restroom thing has already been addressed and in regard to women being drafted, she forgot that the draft ended in 1973, which meant that men were only required to register with Selective Service to qualify for federal college loans.

    I see nothing wrong with requiring the same thing of women, because from World War I  (and the Civil War) right up to the present, millions of women have been putting in their time voluntarily because they thought it was the right thing to do, and they still think that way.

    So what is the issue again? Just what is wrong with being asked to put in some of your precious time serving your country? There are thousands of us girls doing it right now, some on the front lines, and many who went before, so get over whatever that nonsense is about ‘it’s a man’s world’ thing. Grow up.

    There are 13 states left to make up a 38th state to ratify the ERA. Yes, it is well past the deadline, but there was one Amendment to the US Constitution that took 200 years to be ratified.  Something unexpected happened with a different amendment in 1992.

    First, some history: Six months after the Constitution went into effect, James Madison offered 17 amendments to the founding document. Congress ultimately approved 12. By 1791, the states had ratified the first 10, which became known as the Bill of Rights.

    One of Madison’s amendments continued to slowly work its way through the states more than 200 years after congressional approval. In May 1992, Michigan became the 38th state to ratify, making it the 27th Amendment, which says that salary increases for members of Congress do not go into effect until the term after they were approved.  – Article.

    If it took 200 years for that salary increase amendment to become an Amendment to the US Constitution, then why shouldn’t this one have that approbation, as well? After all, it simply confirms what has already happened, mostly at the state levels, and requires only one more state to pass the ERA. There are 13 states from which to choose: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah and Virginia.

    Once a 38th state has passed the Amendment, perhaps, per a 2013 report by Congressional Research Service, Congress could simply change the deadline. Congress could also replace the old ERA with a new, updated version and ask the states to ratify the newer version.

    Whatever happens, it’s kind of a lame duck thing anyway, because so many moves forward have taken place since 1972. It would be symbolic that we do support the Law of the Land, the language of the U.S. Constitution, and we don’t just give lip service to it.

    Democrats are leaning on divisive rhetoric and encouraging mob rule. Using mob rule to get what you want is not something new. Robespierre used it to his advantage to whip up the mob frenzy that sent Louis XIV  and his ditzy wife Marie Antoinette to the guillotine. Unfortunately , it backfired on him and he was sent to the same fate by the Council that he had started. Mussolini was hung. Hitler blew his own brains out in his bunker. The Gang of Four in China were arrested, tried, and punished. Stalin’s iron grip on the USSR eroded with his death from a stroke. It went belly up in 1989. Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge thugs were routed by the Vietnamese Army after several murderous years, and Cambodia had a new government.

    Unfortunately, it is not working well for the Democrats. Brett Kavanaugh did get voted into the bench of the Supreme Court. And Lindsey Graham finally found his feet and gave the Democrats what-for.

    As Stuart Varney indicates in the article, so-called “activism” is more oriented toward mob behavior than anything else, and the Lefterd side of the fence has not displayed any interest in reducing the turmoil.

    “I haven’t seen a single leading Democrat say, ‘Hey, tone this down, stop this mob rule, stop this confrontation,’” Varney said on “Fox & Friends” Monday. – article.

    No, and you won’t. If this is a continuing trend, and not even one of the Democrats is saying ‘this is going too far’, then they are complicit. Period. It is a mistake on their part to think it works to their advantage to condone it by not speaking out against it.

    There are anti-Trump op-ed pieces in the local newsrag all the time, with no acknowledgement at all that the economy has drastically improved since Trump took office. Nothing. They report the incredible financial deficit, as if none of Trump’s predecessors ever incurred debt. They want the “free health care for everyone” but no reference to who will pay for it, as if the cash to pay the bills just magically falls out of the sky. I could go on, but I want to keep this short.

    I’m having some solace in watching this episode of “Pot Boiler Politics”, knowing that the midterms are only a few days away. It is more important than ever that you vote in every election, even if it’s a pain in the neck. The Venezuelan rule about voting is that you are only qualified to buy food if you have a voter ID card. And of course, the Soviet Union had only one party running, with a 99% turnout each time, so qualifying to buy food may have meant “Show your voter ID and ballot ticket”.

    Stay tuned. The midterm vote is next Tuesday. I expect to see some turmoil, shouting, and more angst, even if it rains buckets. And I believe there will be some turmoil, somewhere.

  • Regarding the Electoral College

    Back in 2016, when the election results were announced and the faces of many thousands of millennials crashed so heavily that the resulting thud registered on some seismic meters as small local quakes, there was an overheated argument going on in the media about why the electoral college should/should not be eliminated.

    It has to do with representation.

    James Madison, the primary architect of the Constitution, and the other representatives believed that the electors would be able to insure that only a qualified person becomes President. They believed that with an Electoral College, no one would be able to manipulate the citizenry. It would act as a check on an electorate that might be duped.

    Madison and the others  did not trust the population to make the right choice. The delegates to the Constitutional Convention believed that the Electoral College had the advantage of being a group that met only once and thus could not be manipulated over time by foreign governments or others. In view of how things have gone in the past two years, these people – Madison, Franklin, Adams, Jefferson, et al., had enormous foresight.

    The electoral college is part of the compromises made at the Constitutional Convention to satisfy the small states. Under the system of the Electoral College, each state had the same number of electoral votes as they have Representatives (not Senators) in Congress, therefore, no state could have less than 3. The result of this system is that in the 2016 election, the state of Wyoming casts about 210,000 votes, and thus each elector represented 70,000 votes, while in California approximately 9,700,000 votes were cast for 54 votes, representing 179,000 votes per elector. Does this create an unfair advantage to voters in the small states whose votes actually count more than those of people living in medium and large states? Yes, and they were very aware of it from the beginning.

    The Founding Fathers, the creators of our Constitution, did not want direct election to the Presidency. They were deeply concerned that a tyrant could manipulate public opinion and come to power through the popular vote. And how often have we seen that in the 19th and 20th centuries? Yes, and there’s a long list I could show you. They saw it happen in France in 1789. We saw it happen in Russia 100 years ago, and in Germany barely 87 years in the past. And we’ve come close, as well, a couple of times.

    Since the electoral college votes are given in their entirety to the majority winner of the state ballot count in elections, the result is that one state with 10 electoral votes may tip the balance toward a specific candidate. We saw this in November 2016, in which the weeping and wailing in the outer darkness of losing a contest showed up on TV screens everywhere.

    The electoral vote is always determined by a simple majority count of 2 votes. A candidate may win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote, as happened more than once in presidential elections and happened again in our most recent presidential race. The winner-take-all method used in electoral voting was decided by the states themselves. This trend took place over the course of the 19th century as America grew in size, volume and frontiers. The total number of electoral votes is, in keeping with the growth of this country, 538, of which 270 form the 2-vote simple majority that determines who is elected President of these United States.

    That attention-grabbing person from NYC, Ocasio-Cortez, says the electoral college is ‘a shadow of slavery’s power’, and should be eliminated. Well, no, it is not.  That statement very clearly shows her ignorance and her complete lack of understanding of the history of our Constitution and our government, never mind our country.

    Her companions on this journey of destruction say the same thing about the Senate – equal representation in one House of Congress is somehow undemocratic. Well, you bet your bippy it is. The framers of the Constitution knew that all along. They were forced into that corner 1787 for a good reason.

    We have two (2) Senators from each state, period. This has to do with the original design of the US Constitution. From the beginning, small states said that they would not accept proportional representation in the Senate, the way it is structured in the House of Representatives. James Madison and the other large-state delegates didn’t take the objections of the small-state delegates seriously. They refused the ‘equal or nothing’ terms.

    So what happened? The small states got up and walked out. They went on strike. Unless they got equal representation in the Senate, they would in fact assure the failure of the Constitutional Convention and damn the consequences. Compromise, or there will be no Constitution.

    The Articles of Confederation gave states equal sovereignty, regardless of their size. The small states would not accept being viewed as lesser entities. Thus, the U.S. Constitution was written as it stands today, because the Small States stood up to the Big Guys and said “Not just no, but hell, no.”

    The House of Representatives gives us proportional representation, and determines how many electoral votes each state has: XXX for Representatives.

    The Senate allows equal representation with 2 Senators in the US Senate for all states, regardless of size.

    The only way to change any of this is to trash the US Constitution and start over. Popular voting through proportional representation is what gave us the electoral college in the first place, in which the majority winner in each state takes all the votes. The foresight of the framers of the Constitution was not just sharply focused, but also accurate and has certainly withstood the test of time.

    The problem is that the Lefterds seem to be demonstrating their complete ignorance of the Law of the Land, in addition to an utter lack of class and respect for others, which are the rule now with them instead of the exception. They are, in fact, annoying so many people who might vote Democrat that these other people are considering their other options.

    It’s that old Newtonian rule again: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

    Most of us learned to lose at home, in grade school and on the playing fields of school sports.

    These bad mannered, obnoxious, disrespectful spoiled brats and sore losers want to throw our Constitution out the window, not just change it, so that they can have their way.

    Tough bananas.  They will just have to learn to lose gracefully.

    The packages addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden and Robert De Niro were found Thursday.

    A suspicious package found Thursday at the building housing Robert De Niro’s office in downtown Manhattan and another addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden discovered in Delaware are similar to the pipe bombs found a day earlier sent to political and media figures, according to law enforcement officials.

    The package addressed to Biden was discovered at a postal facility in New Castle, Delaware, officials said. They suspected Wednesday that the package was somewhere within the postal system.

    A building worker in New York called authorities around 4 a.m. about the package addressed to De Niro, an official said. The employee called because after seeing news reports about other pipe bombs, he remembered seeing the suspicious package a day or two earlier, the official said.
    I can not be alone in wondering if this is all being done by some Libtarded Loon to make the Right look bad.   These packages do not seem to be designed to hurt anyone…just get attention.  Too Lefty by design.  I would not put it past DeNiro to make his own package so he could get a little attention.   Whoever it is, I hope they track them down sooner than later.

    A total of 172 veterans won primaries this year and will appear on midterm ballots across the country. Their military service spans from the 1950s to today, and includes time spent in the active-duty ranks, reserves and the Coast Guard.
