John Edward Johnston; Embellishing Liar and Disgrace to the Corps

Our partners North of the Border send us their case on John Edward Johnston.

There is so much wrong with his award salad, I am not sure where to begin.  He is claiming over 24 years of sevice.

I had a Mail Clerk Card … he has dishonored mail clerks everywhere.

Police Seek Man Posing on Facebook as Navy Seal Who Helped Rescued Boys Trapped in Chiang Rai Cave

CHONBURI – A Police spokesperson from the Sattahip Police station told Thai Media that members of the Navy Seals called on the Police yesterday to arrest a man living in Kalasin who is posing on Facebook as a Navy Seal.

A Mr.Kittisak has photo-shopped himself on two sites with a fancy uniform and claims to mhave rescued the Moo Pa football team boys from the cave in Chiang Rai.

Police said they believe he is doing this to impress the ladies.

According to Navy records Mr.Kittisak was just a conscript with the rank of private for a short time in 2015.

He is now a security guard in the north east, said Captain Anan Surawan as he filed a complaint with the cops.

Kittisak faces serious trouble for claiming to be a Navy Seal – he could be jailed for five years and fined 100,000 baht reported Sanook.

  • Michael Bender – Phony MSgt Recon Marine

Michael Bender – Phony MSgt Recon Marine

Military Phony sent us their work on Michael Thomas Bender – who claims he is a retired MSgt of Marines who served from 1984 – 2010 and retired after 26 years.

He claims that he was in Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance.

Then, he also claims he was in “3/9 Force Recon Battalion” which must be a super secret unit because nobody has ever heard of it.  Also, he claims GySgt vs. MSgt in his VetFriends profile.

He works around youth in the US Naval Sea Cadet Program.

It looks like he lost a foot or two since that uniform was issued, I think we found the incredible shrinking Marine.

And his profile looks awesome – https://www.region57nscc.org/pmi-bio

He has a chest full of medals, including a Combat Action Ribbon although you have to look close to see what’s wrong with the CAR in the above photo and the ones below.

You wouldn’t know it’s the same Marine by looking at his official military records:

Michael Bender was discharged from the USMC as a Corporal (E-4) vs. a MSgt (E-8).

There is nothing in his records to support him serving from 1986 – 2010.  The time he spent on active duty is consistent with a Marine that was in the Reserve.  In fact, on his summary sheet, it says he was in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

The only medal listed is a Rifle Marksman Badge.  There is no Combat Action Ribbon.

You have to give him credit in this photo – he uses an assortment of ferns and other foliage.  I know you can hardly pick him out in the photo below but stare closely at the center of the screen and you will eventually see a goofy dork like guy with shrubs on his head.

  • Army Sergeant Michael Lindsey – No Purple Heart

Army Sergeant Michael Lindsey – No Purple Heart

The folks at Military Phony sent us their work on James Michael Lindsey.  He prefers to go by Michael or Mike.

For some odd reason, a lot of people in Lindsey’s hometown of Haskell, Texas are under the impression that he has a Purple Heart from being wounded in Iraq.  Many of them might think that because he was designated an “Everyday Hero” and it was printed in the Abilene News-Reporter.

In 2009, Lindsey, who lived in Haskell from age 5, was a medic in the U.S. Army when the Humvee in which he was riding struck an improvised explosive device, killing three of the soldiers and badly injuring Lindsey. For his actions, Lindsey received numerous medals, including the Purple Heart.

Lindsey even saved a life before he passed out.

“It was horrible,” said a friend, XXXX XXXXXX, of the incident. “He saved one soldier’s life with a tracheotomy but he couldn’t get to the others before he passed out himself.”

People that knew Lindsey well questioned his version of events.  So, a quick examination of his military records show…

Well, there is no Purple Heart in his records but he was in Iraq.

As a side note, seven soldiers from Fort Carson CO were killed in Iraq in 2009 – five by a suicide truck bomb and two by non-hostile vehicle accidents. None match the incident that was described in the newspaper article.

The newspaper was contacted and so was Michael.   Michael came clean but we believe that had something to do with the fact that he knew he was being investigated.  We would not want people thinking that he just had some kind of spontaneous act of humble honesty.

Michael also promised he would contact the newspaper and set the record straight.  We are still waiting to hear from the Abilene News-Reporter.  They are not the first paper to be duped by a Stolen Valor Vulture, we hope they become one of the few that have the professional integrity to publish a meaningful correction.

Many of the people we expose like to move around the country.  We have seen them set up shop again, sharpen their story and keep on telling lies.  We hope this will not be the case with Mikey.   It’s still a mystery as to who said what to whom and how it all ended up in the newspaper, but hopefully, it will all get sorted out and the good citizens that read that paper will eventually get the truth, as uncomfortable as it may be.

There’s a common expression in Hollywood when it comes to movies — “Don’t ever let the truth get in the way of a good story.”  We just don’t think that should apply to newspaper articles.  Michael Lindsey had a perfectly honorable military career and served during a time when most people would not.  He had every reason to be proud of what he actually did do,  his embellishments are disappointing.

  • Stolen Valour Canada presents Oh Danny Boy! – Master Corporal Daniel (Fon Fon) Lafontaine CD

Stolen Valour Canada presents Oh Danny Boy! – Master Corporal Daniel (Fon Fon) Lafontaine CD

Our friends North of the Border send us their work on Daniel Donald Lafontaine.

Of particular concern to us, his claim of being held, along with a Corporal as a “hostage” by the Serbs for 31 days in 1995.

SVC is well aware of hostage incidents involving Canadians that occurred in the UN’s Bosnia-Herzegovina Command including those involving Canadian Army units in Bosnia (GT 12e RBC, RCD BG, 3 R22eR and Canadian UN Military Observers) over the course of the UN Protection Force mission.

There is no open source evidence that CF personnel were held in excess of one month by any of the warring factions. However, given the press coverage of actual hostage events, it’s difficult to believe there’s absolutely no record of the event Lafontaine describes…

This guy was sporting the fake POW type of claim.  The lowest of the low.  He also claimed a bunch of other stuff and its too early for me to start drinking anything from Unibroue, my universal translator lube.  Stolen Valour Canada did an outstanding job on this case.  Please give it a read HERE.

  • Peter Charles – Fake Ranger, Fake Green Beret

Peter Charles – Fake Ranger, Fake Green Beret

The folks at Military Phony sent us their work on Peter Clay Charles, a professor that has students that think he was a Green Beret.

On his LinkedIn account, he claims to have been in every hell hole in the world.

Apparently, he still deploys at a moments notice, but not before he snaps a quick selfie to document the occasion.

Delivering babies while under heavy fire…

The specifics of these firefights fall under the category of “shit you can’t talk about… except on the internet since the DoD classifies the internet as a SCIF.”

He claims he was a 91B, 18D and 01H but his military records say different…

Germany wasn’t classified as a hell hole last time I checked but that was his only overseas assignment.

Since Peter Charles lives in Durham North Carolina there is a chance his power could be lost in the storm.  Perhaps we can have an open mind until he can get back online and provide proof of his service claims.

In the meantime, he is probably writing letters to Ndugu, the baby he delivered under fire, which is the name we guess because we were inspired by the movie “About Schmidt” which has a similar theme.

  • Albert Gunnard Linne, An Army of None.

Albert Gunnard Linne, An Army of None.

It seems there are a few people who are under the impression that this Albert Gunnard Linne guy was in the Army.  It might have something to do with things like this posted at Rally Point.

The Army does not seem to know anything about this guy.

He does have some records out there on this interwebnet thingy.   Stuff like THIS  lead us to believe there is much more of it out there as well.   If anyone was under the impression that he was an Army Veteran we are glad we had this opportunity to help clear that up.

  • Donald Kimball; Still claiming a Silver Star and Purple Hearts

Donnie Kimball is still running about the mouth.  We posted about him back in March.  He is still a member of the Marine Corps League.  We have tried to contact them several times, as recently as yesterday.  I am getting no response.  Can anyone explain how someone without a Silver Star in his records gets an official plate from the state of Florida?

We have reports that this clown has claimed hand fulls of Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts from his 2 years of service.

His Official records show no award of a Silver Star or Purple Heart.  Donnie has managed to convince some people that he was awarded these medals during The Battle of Khe Sanh.  We get reports of him claiming to have been in RECON and all the other usual nonsense.  He was in Viet Nam and was attached to a unit that did have people in Khe Sanh.

According to his official records he was NOT a RECON Marine.  He spent 3 months as an 0311 basic grunt from late Aug of 67 until Nov of 67.  He then spent the rest of his time working at the E-Club or in Supply.  It seems his conduct while on Barracks Duty in Arlington was piss poor so they sent his ass to NAM.  For what ever reason the Corps thought it would be best if he didn’t play with guns and sent him to the E-Club to probably mop floors and pick up beer cans.  I can find nothing about his claims of daring-do.

The Marine Corps League has not responded thus far.  Its really easy for them to get a FOIA done.  One would think a fraternal organization representing United States Marines would take more interest in reports of potential fraud within its ranks.  We hear this Kimball fella likes to threaten people and such, I guess that kinda thing worries civilians.

If an award is not in your official records…do not lay claim to it.  I can use some help down in Florida finding out why this guy still has those plates on his car.
