  • I challenge you to find a bigger DouChe’ than IVAW’s Chris Arendt [TSO]

    I challenge you to find a bigger douche than Christopher Arendt, 1/119th Field Artillery, Charlotte, Michigan. He had already made my radar last week as I read this P.O.S. book, Winter Soldier, when he had this comment about his service at Gitmo:

    I would like to share with you how one goes about becoming a concentration camp guard without ever having made many decisions.

    Here is Specialist Arendt. He looks like one of the Emo kids from South Park. For Chris, the worst form of torture is having to go a week without a duck-taped gerbil being inserted into his anus by his boyfriend. (Unfair Arendt? Completely baseless? You are G.D. right it is, kind of like accusing your fellow troops of being psychotic.)

    So what is torture to him?

    I’ve heard a lot of speculation as to what torture is. I would like to ask everyone to consider whether living in a cell for five years, away from your family and friends, without ever being given answers as to why you’re there, whether this is torture. Having to ask 19 year old boys who don’t have any idea about the politics of their government why they are detained and the answers that we weren’t able to give- I consider that torture.

    The “shaving things into detainees hair” is a new one for him. One has to wonder why a fantastic story like that makes its first appearance in a BBC video and not in his testimony from a year ago. It’s almost as if he forgot it out until now. Or maybe, the harrowing business of running a detention facility caused his mind to block it out. Or maybe, just maybe, the story is sheer bullshit. I’m leaning towards the later of these potential causes of amnesia. According to his testimony in March, the only discussion of shaving heads is this:

    After the detainee is taken forcibly from his cell – that’s probably the first time that he’s left his cell in five, six, seven days – the detainees are beaten, pulled out to the back, shaved, all of their hair, their beard, and then taken to wherever they were supposed to go.

    Wait, so were their patterns shaved into their hair, or was it all shaved off?

    So let’s look at the rest of his testimony. Mind you that Chris was an E4.

    “I served on the blocks for two months as a prison guard. My duties were to feed detainees and dispense toilet paper…A consequence of having detainees is that they are human beings and also have stories. [Ed: No shit?] I talked with them about those stories, which led to my being taken off the blocks. I was sent to work in the Detention Operations Center as the escort control for the last eight months of my tour. I managed the movements of every detainee in Camp Delta. I did this on twelve- to fourteen- hour shifts, and rotated with a very small crew of other specialists.”

    Let me see if I get this straight. With all the officers, interrogators, OGA groups and NCO’s at Gitmo, they entrusted the running of this camp to a 19 year old Specialist who got shit-canned from his job dispensing toilet paper? Is there anyone reading this now that buys into this? Anyone? Is it more likely that Arendt ran Camp Delta, or that a Yeti and Barbra Streisand spawned Amy Winehouse? I would say that each of those stories is equally believable.

    Specialist Chris Arendt, you are the newest member of the Blue Falcons.

    I’ve got some calls into various people who served at Gitmo, including a SGM who may have been there at the same time as Chris. If anyone knows ANYONE in the 1/119th Field Artillery, get them to email us. I want to hammer the BBC on this.

  • Zombie does SF’s Pro-Hamas event

    If you didn’t get enough of the Israel hatred from my post last Saturday, Zombie was at it again in San Francisco chronicling the anti-Israel hatred on the other coast.

    Zombie is lucky. Out in San Francisco, the protesters get to make and show their own signs. Here in DC, they have a staging area where they screen the signs. If you don’t have a media-acceptable sign, ANSWER takes it from you and gives you one of theirs;

  • My Call to Service

    Well, it’s still a week from the Inauguration, but Michelle Obama is calling me to service;

    She writes in the email;

    Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are committing to renew America together, one community at a time.

    Whatever service activity you organize or take part in — cleaning up a park, giving blood, volunteering at a homeless shelter, or mentoring an at-risk youth — you can help start this important journey. But this is about more than just a single day of service, it’s the beginning of an ongoing commitment to your community.

    Um, aren’t all of those things reasons they give me to pay my taxes? Every year I pay tens of thousands of dollars of my earnings to the State and Federal governments because they think they can do those things better than I can do those things. Now they’re admitting that my money goes down a black hole and I need to do those things in addition to pay my taxes on time?

    But I’ve been “enabled to serve”;

    Don’t worry, if fewer people than expected want to serve, more of us will be “enabled”, I’m sure.

  • Celebrate the last day of BDS

    As we all know, January 19th is President Bush’s last full day in office. It’s also the last day that those poor souls who’ve been suffering from Bush Derangement Syndrome since before the President took office to blame him for their ills (well, that’s not true, is it?). So taking full chronological advantage, they organized a “Shoe Bush” (or “Boot Bush“, depending upon which website you land) event that forms about eight blocks from the White House in DuPont Circle (a place TSO knows well) and plans to get near the White House. I doubt that very much, judging from the construction activity I saw there yesterday in preparation for the Inauguration.

    But anyway, the whole idea is to toss shoes at President Bush;

    This afternoon in DC, at Lafayette Park, across from the White House amidst preparations for the Inauguaration, several thousand protesters gathered ostensibly to show their support for Gazans, but as you can see by the flag above, it was more an Israel Hate Fest than support for anyone.

    About three blocks from Lafayette Park, in Farragut Park, I ran into a prayer session;

  • More on CNN’s Hoax Video

    I posted this video earlier this morning in relation to a Michelle Malkin post on Joe the Plumber.

    Bob Owens of Confederate Yankee characteristically takes the hoax a whole lot further;

    But what marks this story as a hoax, and what elements point to media collusion in promoting this video as propaganda? Please watch the video above again, and we’ll go through those elements step-by-step.

    They are:

    * basic medical procedures are poorly faked
    * known propaganda actors are used in this film
    * the site of the attack is poorly-constructed and inconsistent with a military attack.
    * the body doesn’t act like a body

    First, let’s return to the hospital, and take a look at our medical doctors and the life-saving procedures they are performing.

    Owens pulls in the dope on the European doctor in the clip as well;

    International media reports, including those from the BBC, CBS, CNN and FOX’s sister station Sky News, present Gilbert as an ordinary doctor.

    But a look at his record shows that Gilbert, 61, is a political activist and member of the Norwegian Maoist “Red” party, and he has been involved in solidarity work for the Palestinians since the 1970s. He has criticized the international aid organization Doctors Without Borders for refusing to take sides in conflicts.

I guess he did such a bang-up job of getting the US troops pulled out of Iraq, he figures he can contribute his considerable weight to the effort to get Israeli troops withdrawn from Gaza. He was so full of himself after participating in this protest, he penned a long letter to the Veterans For Peace National Office to urge them to action against Israel. But those dirty Zionists keep getting in his way;

    Zionist Embeds have totally confused our “low information” VFP members by pointing to MLK & Gandhi, and by saying that the Palestinians should submit to total humiliation and degradation, and be glad that their lives and families are trashed by the Zionists, as they prevent the Gaza export taxes, medications, medical supplies, cooking oil, and food from International sources to get past the Israeli “Check Points”. Then saying VFP should maintain MLK / Gandhi ideals, and DO NOTHING about Israeli bloodthirsty THEFT & MURDER.

    Zionist “sanctions” kill almost as many as their American Missiles, Rockets, and Bombs kill !

    Hell, IMHO, VFP Zionist embeds with tortuous legal arguments are also WAR CRIMINALS. Why are they so powerful, in VFP circles? Do we REALLY need their contributions that bad?

  • Iran and Jimmy Carter open up second front against Israel [Jonn]

    The first thing I read this morning while perusing last night’s news on the Moronosphere BlogNetNews was a post at The Jawa Report about rockets striking Israel from Lebanon.

    The Washington Times confirms the attack from Lebanon;

    Lebanese militants fired barrages of rockets into northern Israel early Thursday, striking a nursing home and threatening to open a second front for the Jewish state as it pushed forward with its offensive in the Gaza Strip.

    Two people were injured, and the rockets on Israel’s north raised the specter of renewed hostilities with Hezbollah, just 2 years after Israel battled the guerrilla group to a 34-day stalemate. Hezbollah started the 2006 war as Israel was battling Palestinian militants in Gaza.

    A nursing home? Shouldn’t that piss of the international community? I mean, really. Well, in the Washington Post, Jimmy Carter is explaining how easily Israel could’ve avoided the whole Gaza thing;

    Hamas leaders also agreed to accept any peace agreement that might be negotiated between the Israelis and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who also heads the PLO, provided it was approved by a majority vote of Palestinians in a referendum or by an elected unity government.

    After about a month, the Egyptians and Hamas informed us that all military action by both sides and all rocket firing would stop on June 19, for a period of six months, and that humanitarian supplies would be restored to the normal level that had existed before Israel’s withdrawal in 2005 (about 700 trucks daily).

    And this fragile truce was partially broken on Nov. 4, when Israel launched an attack in Gaza to destroy a defensive tunnel being dug by Hamas inside the wall that encloses Gaza.

    A “defensive tunnel”? The tunnel was dug so Hamas could kidnap Israeli soldiers and that’s a defensive tunnel? Good old Jimmy Carter the world’s most famous anti-Semite. On the up-side, as long as he’s writing for the Post, he’s not building death-traps for Habitat for Humanity.

    In another article in the Post, the Red Cross accuses Israel of starving children;

    The International Committee of the Red Cross said Thursday that it had found at least 15 bodies and several children — emaciated but alive — in a row of shattered houses in the Gaza Strip and accused the Israeli military of preventing ambulances from reaching the site for four days.

    Emaciated? After four days? I think if anyone was emaciated, their starvation started long before the response by Israel. Well, Michelle Malkin writes that Joe the Plumber is enroute to Gaza, so maybe he can us the straight answer.
