This afternoon in DC, at Lafayette Park, across from the White House amidst preparations for the Inauguaration, several thousand protesters gathered ostensibly to show their support for Gazans, but as you can see by the flag above, it was more an Israel Hate Fest than support for anyone.
About three blocks from Lafayette Park, in Farragut Park, I ran into a prayer session;
Inside Lafayette Park, it was interesting to see who was behind the protest;
Looking for information on the Spartacist League, an internet surfer lands on the website for the International Communist League. And they’ve got no love for President-elect Barack Obama;
Of course, I bumped into our maoist friend Brian Becker, the national coordinator of ANSWER;
On the video, you can see him tell his two friends that I’m stalking him. Paranoid little shit.
And I ran into VVAW coward-in-chief, Bill Perry;
After I took this picture, he asked me to fix his camera, and the good Samaritan that I am, I did. You’re welcome, Bill.
Someone was clearly confused about world events and what was going on in the Park;
There was a small, ugly contingent of Code Pinkers there, too;
I guess after a Summer moratorium on protests so The One could get elected, they’re all coming to every protest to get warmed up for March 21st.
After about a half hour of wandering around, I finally found the Free Republic folks I had heard were coming;
I finally met Marooned in Marin after missing him three times last year.
For a tiny group, the FReepers attracted a lot of attention;
Of course, I spotted the Hezbollah flag again;
At varying times, there would be a hundred or so who broke away from the main crowd just to shout at the FReepers, who stood their ground. At one one point, they worked themselves up into a frenzy and about fifty crossed the street. The police had to separate the two sides and forced the pro-terrorist side back into the park (that’s on the video at the end of the post).
Of course some of them couldn’t stay on their side of the street. This cop is telling this little little old bag that he’d told her three times to stay in the park and if he had to tell her again, he was going to cuff her little old ass. Of course, it was just a threat. She continued to walk back and forth in front of the FReepers.
All of this attention for a small group of Free Republic counter-protesters;
I guess they’re not used to somebody disagreeing with them. Finally, the police got tired of dealing with the pro-terrorist side, so you can guess who they asked to leave. Yep, not the side that was over-working them and causing the problem, the small group that wasn’t doing anything but standing there.
The Free Republic folks felt sorry for the cops. They were over stretched with the Obamas in town early (a few blocks away) and all of the pro-terrorist drama and it’s still two weeks until the actual Inauguration. So the FReepers figured they’d made their point and they left to cut the cops a break. Since the protesters were moving their theater from Lafayette Park to the Washington Post (wtf?), the counter-protesters went to Luigi’s for dinner.

I was coming to the office on Saturday when I saw those bastards. To my great surprise, I saw some counters and decided to stop by and lend them some support. To my even greater and wonderful surprise, the counters were my Freepers :o) So I stayed for a while and let them some support.
