  • Saturday morning feel good stories

    Chief Tango sends us links once again to our feel good stories for the start of the weekend. The first is from Missouri where a woman awoke to the sound of her front door opening;

    A husband and wife were in the home and the wife said she awoke to the sound of the front door opening.

    She said she went to the top of her stairway with her handgun and saw two black males in her home standing just inside the front door.

    The woman fired three rounds at the suspects who then left the home.

    Authorities do not think the suspects were hit.

    More range time, and shooting down the stairs takes a lot of practice, so don’t feel bad.

    The second story comes from San Jose, California where a reported Marine veteran caught someone trying to break into his home;

    Friday that detectives are treating the death as a homicide. Prosecutors weigh whether a homicide is considered “justified” if they feel there is a reasonable excuse for the killing, such as self defense. In such cases, the shooter would not be charged with a crime.

    “He said somebody had attempted to break into his home, and at some point he saw some shadows or silhouettes of a person,” Morales said. “He armed himself with a firearm that belonged to him and returned fire in the direction of where this subject was, in defense.”

    No range time necessary, but it’s recommended to keep those skills sharp. I left the video at the link above.

  • Friday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story for this morning this time from West Palm Beach, Florida where a homeowner came home from work for lunch. Someone who didn’t have a job was rifling through his guns;

    He says when the teen pointed a weapon at him they began wrestling. Police say the homeowner then said he managed to get a gun and shoot the intruder several times.

    The suspect was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead, according to West Palm Beach police.

    Police say the juvenile had a prior criminal history and was thought to be on probation.

    If the video doesn’t work, you can see it at the link above;

    Ad there’s this guy in Tennessee who doesn’t need anymore range time, because he can hit small targets in the dark;

    Officers charged David R. Miles Jr, 30, of Dyersburg, with aggravated burglary after he was found by officers with a single gunshot wound to his groin on Hull Street. Police said Miles was shot by a resident of the apartment complex while he was allegedly breaking in through their window.

    “I think it’s bad that something like that could happen you know people breaking into people’s houses and getting shot,” neighbor Diane Thomas said. “People got to protect themselves, it’s just a bad situation.”

    Neighbors said Miles, who was a familiar face in the neighborhood, never caused any trouble in the past. Officers said their investigation revealed that Miles had pending domestic assault charges on his record. Investigators said he had a previous relationship with one of the occupants that was living in the apartment complex. At this time, a motive for the alleged burglary is unknown.

    “He was nice, quiet, didn’t bother nobody,” neighbor Robert Holloway said. “I was surprised when I heard that. But if you’re breaking a window, that’s what you get.”

    Yeah, I doubled over with sympathy pains while reading it, too.

  • Thursday morning feel good story

    Tom sends us our feel good story for this morning, this time from Detroit where a Mom took up arms to defend her family with an evil, scary black gun from some folks who decided to do some shopping in her home.

    The mother tells Action News she “didn’t have time to get scared.” When she heard the door to her home on Woodrow Wilson being kicked in, she immediately warned the three teenage intruders and then opened fire.

    One of the teens dropped a handgun on his way out the door. He then tried to get back inside the house a second time, but was again met with gunfire. Once again, he took off and all three were arrested shortly after the incident by Detroit Police.

    Recalling the panic she felt, the mom says “I let them know I had a gun once they were in the house. They said no you don’t so I shot off the first round. I wasn’t feeling anything at the moment, I got scared afterwards.”

    It was caught on video (if the video doesn’t work, go to the link above);

    Chief Tango sends us a feel good story from the DC suburb, Beltsville, MD;

    Police say the owner of Lloyd’s Automotive told them a man forced his way into the business while the owner was inside and there was a confrontation. The owner then shot the suspect and called 911, according to police.

    The suspect then fled from the store and got in his car. He crashed it at the intersection of Virginia Manor Road and Muirkirk Road, say police.

    The suspect was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. Police say he is expected to survive.

    Charges are pending against the suspect, say police. They are also exploring whether he is connected to other burglaries.

  • Wednesday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us a feel good story which is a little different than most, it comes from Des Moines where a fellow attempted to rob a Taco John’s, but the robbery was foiled by his own stupidity;

    A man walked into the restaurant when no other customers were inside and approached the counter.

    “Give me everything you got,” he reportedly told an employee while pointing a gun at him.

    The gun was a BB gun with the orange tip painted black, an employee later told police.

    “I don’t have anything for you,” one of the clerks reportedly responded. “And plus, that’s a BB gun.”

    The suspect denied it and racked the slide and fired the gun, police reports show. But the gun apparently wasn’t loaded, authorities said.

    The suspect left the store and fled on foot. No arrests have been reported.

    So everyone came out alive, in one piece and the bad guy didn’t get what he wanted. Feel good.

  • Tuesday morning feel good story

    Amy sends us our first feel good story today from Houston where a couple of youngsters were out doing their nightly business – beating someone behind a dumpster. A passerby yelled for them to stop, and one of the youths, forced to neglect his business, began approaching the passerby displaying his firearm. Unfortunately, for the fellow who was just turning his life around, the passerby was an off duty cop;

    The officer, fearing for his life, opened fire and shot the suspect. The second suspect, who turned out to be a juvenile, fled and was later arrested at a home on the other side of the freeway.

    “It’s an officer who saw the individuals beating and robbing a male victim in the street, and he took what he thought was the appropriate action to keep this victim from being more hurt than he was,” said Cannon.

    The beating victim was not seriously injured.

    HPD said Officer Rodriguez is a 22-year-veteran of the force.

    Police identified the killed suspect as Oscar Gaspar, 17.

    Our second story, sent to us by Chief Tango comes from one of my many hometowns, Killeen, Texas;

    Officials said a resident of the home was woken by members of his family, who told him that someone was attempting to break into the house. As the resident walked to the kitchen, the power to the house was cut off.

    Someone kicked in the back door and and entered the house, and the resident fired two shots towards the intruder, according to a news release from Bell County Sheriff’s Department.

    As the first suspect was entering the back door, a second suspect was attempting to force his way in through the front door. The second suspect fled when the resident approached him.

    Killeen Fire Department EMS took the subject who had been shot to Scott & White Hospital in Temple with non-life threatening injuries. The second suspect was found later, and is being interviewed by investigators, officials said.

    More range time, dude.

    The third story was sent by Mr Bill and comes from San Antonio, Texas, where a homeowner inconveniently came home early without calling ahead and found a couple of local kids relocating his stuff;

    As the homeowner returned to his residence on the 600 block of River Village, he heard people inside as he opened the front door, according to authorities. The three suspected burglars then burst through the garage door of the home in a red sedan, and the homeowner started firing a handgun he had on him, police said.

    Two of the suspects were hit — one on the shoulder and one in the back. They were taken to the hospital, while the third suspect was taken into custody.

    The suspects are all men. One of the suspects who was shot is 18 years old, while the suspect who was not shot is 17. The age of the third suspect was not immediately available.

    As Mr Bill said, two out of three ain’t bad. He would have qualified Sharpshooter.

  • Monday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends our feel good story to kick off the week. The first is from Tulsa where a homeowner stopped a home invasion at his front door;

    Police say a man in his 40s tried to force his way into an apartment, but the resident was armed. He shot and killed the intruder.

    The deceased man has been identified as Michael Walton, according to Detective Mark Kennedy, Tulsa Police.

    The second man, identified as Tommy Debrosse, was shot in the face, arms and back, police say. He showed up at a Tulsa hospital around 5 a.m. and was transferred to another hospital due to the severity of his wounds, according to Tulsa police.

    In a news bulletin issued late Sunday morning, Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said a woman sometimes lived at the apartment but was moving out. As she left the apartment, Walton apparently forced his way in, Walker said.

    The second story comes from Lexington, KY where another homeowner ended another home invasion at the door;

    Police say two men kicked in the back door of the home and the homeowner fired two shots hitting one of the men in the leg.

    Police found the 16-year-old in the driveway of the home. Firefighters took him to UK Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    “The homeowner apparently had been a victim of crime before, so that’s why he was kind of always cautious and owned a firearm,” Lexington Police Lt. Eddie Hart said.

    The homeowner told WKYT’s Victor Puente that he was glad the teen was not more seriously injured.

  • Sunday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this morning. The first is from San Antonio, Texas where a fellow tried to rob the wrong liquor store;

    Police were on the scene and were investigating the incident shortly afterward. They said a man was trying to rob the store and was shot by the clerk.

    The liquor store employee and a couple of witnesses were taken downtown for questioning.

    From My San Antonio;

    San Antonio Police Sgt. Greg Garvelli said officers responding to a call for a shooting at the Boulevard Spirits liquor store at 5715 Randolph Blvd., around 9 p.m. found the man’s body outside the shop when they arrived.

    Garvelli said the man, between 25 and 30, was armed with a Taser when he tried to rob the store. A clerk pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, police said, but it was unclear how many times the man was hit.

    The next story comes from Cleveland, where property owner Miodrag Bugarcic is cooling his heels in a jail cell because he’s shot at three burglars in the last few years;

    In this latest case on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 the suspected burglar got shot in the stomach and his butt.

    Police say he somehow stumbled off, and they found him a few blocks away.

    Another intruder didn’t make it out alive.

    In November 2012, police say Bugarcic shot and killed a burglar at a property he owns on Portage in Cleveland.

    Three weeks after that, he shot and wounded another burglar.

    And last November, police say Bugarcic held two men at gunpoint as they stripped an air conditioner in the same location.

    19 Action News also learned Bugarcic had just been to police headquarters trying to get back a gun from an earlier shooting.

    This latest shooting he used a rifle to fire shells at the intruder.

    It’s not like he’s tempting these criminals into his business, FFS.

    Free Miodrag!!!

  • Saturday morning feel good stories

    Chief Tango sends us links this morning to perk up your cold Saturday morning. the first is from California, where John Jasmer, let into his house Melanie Piette who claimed she needed to inspect his gas lines;

    Piette allowed another man inside, identified as Michael Felsch, 38, deputies said.

    The two attempted to rob Jasmer, deputies said, Felsch threatening Jasmer with an unidentified weapon and threatening to harm him if he didn’t hand over money.

    Jasmer had a gun close to where he was sitting, and he fired at Felsch, striking him in the torso several times, deputies said. Felsch and Piette ran away, deputies said.

    The police arrived at the wrong address at first, and had to jerk around and decypher the cryptic directions they had to the house from the dispatcher. Luckily, the homeowner was able to take matters into his own hands.

    Felsch is in custody at the local hospital, but Piette is still on the loose. Mr. Jasmer has sufficient range time, but he needs a larger caliber hand gun. It’s harder to run with a couple of 230 grain bullets in your torso.

    The next story also comes from the West Coast, this one from Washington State;

    A female resident called 911 at 2:30 a.m. Friday, reporting an intruder inside her home at 8011 Savary Drive, Pasco police said.

    The male homeowner fired multiple rounds at the alleged intruder inside the home, police said. When police arrived, they learned that the alleged intruder was dead.

    Pasco police are investigating. No arrests have occurred in this death investigation, police said.
