  • Thursday morning feel good story

    This morning’s story comes from South Carolina where homeowner Woody Way returned home at about 9 am and found someone breaking into his house;

    The man then fired several shots at the intruder, but he took off running, according to deputies.

    Deputies said the homeowner was not sure if the suspect had been shot.

    Officers were still out searching for the man about 11 a.m. in the area of Dyar Road.

    Deputies have not released any other information.

    Back to the range for you, Mr. Way.

    Poetrooper sends us a link to The Blaze which warns criminals to stay away from 84-year-old Marines, too, especially Albuquerque veteran “Tom”;

    The 84-year-old said the incident — it was not clear exactly what day it took place — started when he was woken up staring straight into the barrel of a gun.

    “It wasn’t no small one you put in a purse,” Tom told KOAT-TV.

    But the former Marine Corps veteran wasn’t willing to go down without a fight. When one of the intruders tried to choke him with a radio cord, Tom fought back and hit him below the belt.

    “I just took my fists and cause he’s right at my height if I’m kneeling on the floor and he’s standing right at the height for the groin,” Tom recalled.

  • Wednesday Feel Good Stories

    Several of you sent us this link yesterday to the Daily Caller about a young woman in Michigan, her husband was deployed to Afghanistan, who prevented “an ordinance thief” from forcing his way into her home with a shotgun and a machete;

    “I kept hearing, ‘tap, tap, tap,’” she recalled during an interview with WOOD-TV.

    The woman ran to get her gun. When she returned to the front of the house, she pointed it right at him. This caused the would-be intruder to retreat. He attempted to enter through the back of the house, but the gun once again deterred him.

    When police arrived, they chased the suspect briefly until he threw down his weapon. The suspect claims to be “an ordinance thief,” though police aren’t sure what he meant by that.

    Once unmasked, the suspect was revealed to be a 15-year-old male. Police are baffled by the teenager’s actions, and said his motivations are totally unclear.

    Chief Tango sends us another story from Michigan where two men in masks ordered a man to give them money.

    According to police, two men forced their way into a home and demanded money.

    While inside a bedroom, the victim grabbed a gun, firing one round at the suspects.

    Both men proceeded to then run out of the home.

    The victim fired one more shot, hitting one of the suspects. The suspect was then taken to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac where he was eventually arrested.

    The second suspect remains on the run this morning.

  • Tuesday Morning Feel Good Story

    This morning’s feel good story comes from Chief Tango who sends a link to local news in Wichita, Kansas where a homeowner opened his bedroom door and encountered an intruder;

    “He heard noises inside of his house, and upon opening his door, he was confronted with the suspect. The suspect attacked him and a fight ensued and that’s when the shots were fired,” said Lt. Todd Ojile, Wichita Police Department.

    The suspect was rushed to Wesley Hospital but, he died soon after.

    Police say the shooting could be a case of self-defense, and local criminal lawyers agree noting that in Kansas, there is no duty to retreat law on the books.

    Yeah, well, he was in his bedroom, so where the hell was he supposed to go to retreat. A closet?

  • Monday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories this morning, the first is from San Marcos, Texas where a family came to some unwelcome intruders so they called the police. When the police arrived, they got no response from the intruder;

    The Hays County’s Sheriff’s Office continued the investigation and found that the homeowner fired a weapon in the residence.

    The SWAT team entered the residence late in the evening after unsuccessful attempts to have the suspects surrender.

    Once inside the residence, tactical officers found the body of a 20 year old white male who had suffered a gunshot wound.

    The man was identified at 20-year-old Kevin Ray Rodriguez.

    The homeowner and his children were not harmed during the incident.

    The next story comes from Pinson, Alabama where a neighbor heard gunshots in a nearby home and saw three men flee the residence. The neighbor grabbed his own gun and lit out after the three;

    [Paul] Trammell, who’s 52 and has asthma, chased after them up a dirt hill and toward the woods behind the house.

    He got about 20 or 30 yards into the woods, he said, and he saw them. They apparently stopped to catch their breath, not knowing they were being followed.

    “I pulled out my firearm and aimed at them and told him to hit the ground,” he said.

    Trammell said he didn’t plan on firing unless someone pulled a gun on him.

    One of the suspects hit the ground. The other two kept running.

    He walked up to the one who got down on the ground and told him to lay flat on his stomach and cross his legs — Trammell said he’d seen that in a safety video somewhere. At this point Blake Wood, his neighbor’s son who he had heard yelling earlier and was afraid had been shot, came up with a shotgun in his hands. The two shots Trammell heard were Wood firing into the ground to scare the suspects away.

    Trammell asked the suspect for his name and his age. He was 17 years old. Wood asked him if he had a weapon on him. He said he did.

    Trammell fished the revolver out of the suspect’s front pocket and found that it only had two rounds in it, and they were at the bottom of the cylinder. If he had pulled the trigger, Trammell said, it would’ve just clicked.

    When deputies arrived and took the youngster in custody, they went to look for the other two and found them in adjoining neighborhood. Again Trammel aided by identifying the two by their clothing. All three are resting comfortably in their jail cells.

  • A Different Sunday Morning Feelgood Story

    I can’t say I’m generally that big a fan of Anheuser-Busch products these days (though their American Ale is pretty decent).  In a domestic, I tend towards Yuengling or Sam Adams.

    But after seeing this ad – which will reputedly air during the Super Bowl today – I might have to give them some more business. Alert: you might want to have a tissue or three handy if/when you watch it.

    The LT’s girlfriend was ultimately responsible for this.  She nominated him when Anheuser-Bush was looking for someone to honor in the commercial.

    I’m thinking the youngster needs to use a bit of his tax savings from being deployed to buy a rock.

    It seems that the commercial isn’t all Anheuser-Bush’s doing, either. They’re using the commercial to launch a social media campaign honoring the US military over the coming year. And they’re also hosting the LT and his girlfriend at today’s Super Bowl as well.

    Hat tip to the Army Times for pointing me at the original links.

  • Sunday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories this Sunday morning. The first is from my place of birth, Pensacola, Florida where a occupat answered a knock at his door at 2:30 i the afternoon. 19-year old John Paul Phillips tried to force his way into the apartment when the door opened;

    When the resident attempted to block the door with his body, Phillips allegedly began shooting into the home.

    The victim was also armed with a hand gun, and he began to fire back at Phillips, the report said.

    Phillips was struck once in the shoulder and fled the scene in a vehicle.
    The victim was uninjured.

    A short time later, Phillips was located at a Wendy’s on Davis Highway and taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment.

    I always go to Wendy’s after I’ve been shot.

    In Richmond, Virginia, Robert Lee Brown Jr. tried to hold up a 7-11 with a pellet gun. Let’s see how that worked out for him;

    Brown was then grabbed suddenly by another clerk and during a brief struggle in which he bit the clerk on his left arm, the other clerk shot the suspect with a handgun.

    Police sources said the clerk knew the suspect from being a regular customer and thought at first that he was joking.

    […]

    Police said the suspect ran away empty-handed, but was apprehended soon after.

    The gun shot ended up only being a graze wound.

    The third story comes from Chicago, Illinois where a 44-year-old on crutches confronted a couple of fellows who broke into his home;

    The 44-year-old homeowner was sleeping when his frightened 18-year-old daughter woke him up, then told him that she heard noises and thought someone was breaking into the apartment behind theirs, according to a police report.

    At first she thought the noise was a heater in that apartment but after she heard something fall, she locked the door that separates the two residences, the report said.

    The man “grabbed both of his crutches and walked over and unlocked and opened the door,” the report said.

    He did not see anyone at first, so he returned to his bedroom to get his gun. When he went back to the rear apartment, he saw two intruders “charging towards” him so he shot at them, according to the report.

    Both burglars stopped, turned around and ran back towards the back door, but one of them collapsed and fell to the floor.

    As I’ve said before, the news isn’t that these shootings happened, the news is that these happened and they’re not reported by the national media. We’ve been running these articles as our “feel good” features for almost two years and we usually have at least one every day. They all come from local news stations where it’s still big news when it happens that a little guy protects his home and his family, but Big Media doesn’t want to be bothered actually informing the country about the benefits of the private ownership of firearms.

  • Saturday morning feel good stories

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories to kick off our weekend on a joyous note. The first is from Greenville, South Carolina where a youngster tried turn his life around by robbing a restaurant;

    Deputies said a man with a gun [22-year-old Calvin Benson] came into Wings On The Run along East North Street in Greenville Thursday night and tried to rob the place.

    That’s when an employee at the restaurant pulled out his own gun and shot the suspect twice, according to deputies. They said the guy then ran away.

    Deputies tried to search for the suspect but did not find him. They said about an hour later, they received a call from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office after the gunshot victim showed up at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center with two wounds.

    The next story comes from Roanoke, Virginia where an owner of a convenience store turned a criminals’ life around for him;

    Munawar Hussain, who co-owns Paradise Deli Mart and was working as clerk at the time, said Thursday that he shot the suspect in the back as the man was leaving the store. The man had already dropped his gun several feet away, Hussain said.

    The incident likely will be reviewed by the Roanoke commonwealth’s attorney’s office, which is standard in such cases.

    Hussain said he had no qualms about firing at the person he thought was a robber.

    He said the man came in, placed what appeared to be a handgun and shopping bag on the counter, and demanded cash.

    After he gave the man money, the suspect demanded a box of cigarettes. He took a box of condoms, too, Hussain said.

    Well, like it was proven in the previous story, it helps the police find the criminal if you tag them with a bullet.

  • Wednesday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us a link to our feel good story this morning, this time from Pennsylvania where a 69-year-old answered an unexpected knock at his door along with his two friends, Smith and Wesson;

    The alleged intruder, Francis Muchanic, 31, of Susquehanna, Pa., knocked on the door of a home at 948 Creek Road in New Milford Township around 7:40 p.m. and told the homeowner he needed to use his phone due to car problems, police said.

    The 69-year-old homeowner answered his door while carrying a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver and tried to shut the door on Muchanic after seeing he was wearing a mask, police said.

    As Muchanic allegedly forced his way inside and knocked the homeowner to the ground, the homeowner fired three shots and struck Muchanic once in the groin area, police said. Two people who allegedly drove Muchanic to the house, Dylan Brewer, 20, and Evan Hess, 20, fled in a vehicle after the shots were fired, police said.

    Yeah, I was incapacitated just by reading about the groin strike. You are a ‘go’ at this station.
