    This morning’s first feel good story comes from Ohio;

    Marlo White, 37, was sleeping on the third floor of his home at about 7:30 a.m. Monday when an adult male broke into the house, said Cincinnati Assistant Police Chief Paul Humphries.

    The noise made during the break-in woke White. He grabbed his gun, went to confront the intruder and tried to fire it, Humphries said, but the gun was not loaded.

    “The burglar was startled and ran,” Humphries said.

    Outside, two boys, 15 and 14, were waiting for the intruder, according to police. The homeowner loaded his gun and fired at them as they stood outside his side window, police said.

    A bullet hit the 15-year-old, entering through his calf. He ran, a trail of blood spotting a block-long section of sidewalk on a street directly behind White’s home on Groesbeck.

    Police found the wounded teen in a home where he is not a resident.

    OK, he should have stopped when he scared the burglar away with his gun. What is it with people with unloaded guns in their homes, anyway?

    Here’s another one from California;

    Grachia Nalbanyan allegedly entered the home in the 6200 block of Matilija Avenue at 11:10 p.m. Monday. According to a statement by the Los Angeles Police Department, Nalbanyan attacked the homeowner who then shot the suspect in the hip with a handgun.

    Nalbanyan, who is on federal probation for possession of a firearms, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He was reportedly unarmed at the time of the home invasion.

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories again this morning, the first is from Ohio where four teens invaded a home and now one is dead and three are facing murder charges;

    Franklin County detectives say Pickens, and two 17-year-olds helped [Reb] Barbee break into a home on Hubbard Drive. A woman asleep upstairs awoke to find the teen in her house, wearing an Insane Clown Posse mask and wielding a knife. Detectives say that woman shot Barbee in the back before he ran out of the house.

    Sherriff Zach Scott says Pickens tried to make up a story during the 911 call because he didn’t know what to do. Those decisions, Scott says, sealed their fate. “They went out to commit a crime and someone got killed and they were trying to cover their tracks and during this time period somebody dies.”

    Three people are charged in the crime. Adam Pickens, 18, is facing murder and complicity to commit aggravated burglary charges. The two 17-year-olds, Tyler Blazer and Brandon Hamilton are also facing murder and complicity charges.

    The next story is from California;

    A suspect remained hospitalized Tuesday after police say he was shot by a homeowner during an attempted robbery.

    The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. Monday in the 6200 block of Matilija Avenue in Van Nuys, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

    Authorities said a man found the suspect in his home, a struggle ensued and several shots were fired.

    The first feel good story comes from Ohio;

    [Deputy Chief Paul] Humphries said the homeowner was sleeping in his bedroom when he heard someone enter the home.

    The homeowner pulled a gun and tried to fire it at an adult intruder as he entered the bedroom, but the magazine wasn’t in the gun, so it wouldn’t fire, Humphries said.

    Humphries said the startled intruder fled out the front door, while the homeowner ran to get the handgun’s magazine from the garage, then ran out the kitchen door.

    When the homeowner ran out a kitchen door with the gun, he found the two teens in the yard, whom Humphries said had not entered the home.

    The homeowner fired, hitting one teen through the buttocks, Humphries said. The teens ran away from the scene.

    Officers followed a blood trail to East Way, where they found the wounded teen.

    The next story is from Colorado;

    A burglary Saturday at a residence on the 2600 block of Aster Street was thwarted when the homeowner shot at the intruder at 5:33 a.m.

    When a police officer arrived, he was told by the homeowner about the incident.

    The homeowner did not know if the intruder was hit but did tell police the suspect — about 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing a black or dark hoodie with his face covered — left the scene running north on Aster Street.

    After investigating the scene, police did not locate the suspect nor determine if the suspect had in fact been hit by the shot.

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories again this morning. The first is from Houston where a store clerk was forced to protect his father and sister;

    This all started around 10:45pm Friday when the suspect walked into the convenience store on Scranton near Dexter with a shotgun. The owner of the store was inside with his son and daughter.

    The father pulled out a handgun and told the robber to stop. When the robber turned around with his shotgun, the son grabbed the gun from his dad and shot the robber in the leg.

    The robber started running down the aisles of the store, trying to engage the son with his gun, and that’s when police say the son shot the robber several times, killing him.

    The next story is from Mississippi;

    Imagine walking out to your vehicle after hearing the sound of barking dogs to find someone attempting to steal your belongings.

    Jackson resident Johndarius Curtis, 20, was facing this dilemma on Sunday after he walked up on a suspected burglar trying to steal a stereo from his vehicle.

    The incident happened at 2883 Arbor Hill Drive.

    Jackson Police said the 28-year-old male suspect attempted to strike Curtis with his own stereo, that’s when Curtis shot the man once in the jaw with a .22 caliber revolver.

  • Sunday morning feel good story

    This morning, our feel good story comes from Nebraska;

    Officers arrived to find Darrell W. Miller, 48, lying on the porch with a gunshot wound, Pecha said. Miller was transported to the Creighton University Medical Center, where he died.

    […]

    Ann Gray, who lives nearby, said she heard Rohatsch’s daughter tell police that she was in bed when the doorbell rang twice. The girl said she heard the door get kicked in, then saw a man standing outside the bathroom with something in his hand, “and my daddy shot him.”

    It’s a shame, too, because Mr. Miller was just turning his life around;

    Miller served time in prison in Nebraska twice. In May 2013 he was released after serving about five months on two domestic assault charges. In 2002 Miller served a year and 10 months for theft by receiving stolen property.

    In 2012 he was convicted of trespassing and spent a day in jail. Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest in August after he failed to appear in court for a hearing on misdemeanor charges of fictitious plates, lack of car insurance and no proof of car ownership.

    This morning’s feel good story comes from California where a couple of fellows tried to harvest a farmer’s pot crop;

    The owner told arriving officers that he had been awakened, found the two suspects harvesting his pot plants and then chased them out of his home.

    A confrontation ensued in the street and one of the suspect opened fire on the homeowner, wounding him in the leg.

    Undaunted the owner continued his pursuit until the suspect fired a second salvo. At that point, the homeowner raced back to the house and called 911 as did many of his neighbors.

    “The homeowner was really brave to do this,” [Santa Rosa Police Sgt. John] Cregan said. “He’s lucky to be alive.”

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories again this morning. Today the first one comes from Indianapolis;

    Police doing roll call across the street at West District Headquarters heard gunshots and ran to investigate the source. The shooter put his hands up and surrendered when officers arrived.

    Police found a truck outside of Kroger with the window shot out, and said both men may have been inside the pickup at one point. The truck was still running. A neighbor told FOX59 he heard at least 12 gunshots.

    And, then in Philadelphia, this happened;

    The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. on the 1500 block of Elbridge Street.

    Police say the homeowner fired a shot at the suspect who did not fire back.

    They say nothing was taken and there were no injuries.

    Officers are searching for the suspect who ran off.

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story again this morning. This time it’s from Florida;

    The Tampa Bay Times reports Cihak fired shots at the alleged burglar – later identified as 25-year-old Bryan Remley – and eventually got him pinned down on the ground at gunpoint.

    As the couple waited for police to arrive, Remley reportedly begged for Cihak to let him go and even promised to come back to mow the lawn if he did.

    “That probably would have done it for me,” police spokesman Mike Puetz joked to the paper, “but for this particular guy, he wanted to wait for the cops.

    Maybe he should have just mowed the lawn and saved everyone the trouble.
