    Tuesday morning feel good stories

    Our first story this morning comes from Illinois. The linked article is so poorly written, let me try and translate what happened here.

    Three rambunctious youngsters went to a trailer park to confront the ex-girlfriend of one. After smacking her around, threatening her and damaging her vehicle, the three decided to assault her new boyfriend. They forced their way into the trailer and began a physical confrontation. The new boyfriend’s brother broke up the altercation with a warning shot. The three left the trailer, but one grabbed an axe from his trunk and went back threatening and brandishing the axe in a menacing manner.

    The fellow with the gun put him down. When the police arrived, the injured fellow was still alive and remained that way until he got to the hospital. I’m pretty sure the girlfriend is willing to forget the whole thing and get back together with the fellow who attacked her now because that’s how you win back a lost love. With homicide.

    The next story comes from Missouri and it’s pretty skimpy on details, but it looks like one fellow shot another who tried to pick a fight with the homeowner and the homeowner nipped it in the bud.

    From North Dakota comes another skimpy story of a woman who scared off an intruder with a warning shot. I hope he doesn’t come back. It’s always better to scare them off with a gunshot wound to remind them about their poor choices.

    In Arizona, where 25-year-old Denario Thompson was shot dead in his neighbor’s garage. Thompson went to have a discussion with the neighbor over some undetermined diffeerences. When the confrontation turned physical, young Thompson pulled his gun, the neighbor responded with his own gunfire. The neighbor was a better shot than Thompson, apparently because Thompson succumbed to his injuries and the neighbor was unharmed.

    AW1Ed sends us our first story this morning. It comes from Florida where a couple was leaving a restaurant after finishing a nice meal when they were confronted by two teens brandishing a gun;

    Police said Reginald Smith and Jeremiah Walker, both 17, demanded cash and their phones.

    They said Smith had a gun, but he didn’t know his male victim was also armed.

    “He had a concealed weapons permit and a pistol in his pocket,” said Lt. Stout.

    The male victim drew his gun once. Officers said he felt their lives were in danger.

    “Our female victim began to flee back towards the restaurant. As she did that, the suspect that had a firearm began to point it at her. That made her significant other believe he was going to fire,” said Lt. Stout.

    Police said the man fired a shot and the victims scattered.

    “The suspects fled with their money and phones, but dropped all of that and the firearm,” he said.

    Mister Smith couldn’t flee as fast as his accomplice, because he’d been shot in the shin, so he was scooped up by the police. By the way, it turns out that the youths’ gun was a plastic toy with the the orange tip-thingie removed. Good thinking, guys.

    From Chief tango, another story in Texas where two friends leaving a bar were confronted by two armed youths who started pistol-whipping their would-be victims;

    One of the men being hit was able to wrestle away the handgun from his attacker, shooting Medrano once in his right shoulder, the report states. His wound was not life-threatening.

    Medrano and Aguilar fled on foot until they got a ride from a stranger to St. Luke’s, where San Antonio police were called by hospital staff, police said.

    Back at the ice house, the two men approached two people sitting in a suspected getaway vehicle, according to the report. The occupants agreed to wait until police arrived.

    The getaway driver is facing robbery charges along with his friends now.

    More women are fighting back instead of allowing themselves to be victims of violent criminals. Take for example this woman in Texas;

    The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says a woman was sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle at the Exxon station on FM 2100 before 6 p.m. Friday. Deputies say a male suspect got into the passenger side of her vehicle, pulled a knife and demanded her money and purse.

    According to the Sheriff’s Office, she kept calm and told him she would get the cash. Instead deputies say she grabbed her concealed carry weapon from her side and shot the suspect in the left shoulder.

    Deputies said he took off running, but collapsed about half a mile away. The suspect was taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

    Folks have been reporting that women are buying more guns these days and it’s paying off for them, apparently.

    Saturday morning feel good stories

    So, now the summer season is in full swing now that Memorial Day is behind us, so the boys of summer are hard at work turning their lives around. Like in Detroit;

    She goes by C.C. and didn’t want her full name to be used in this story. She took a wrong turn at Alma and Garnet avenues on her way to the hairdresser’s. While making a u-turn three men approached her car and tried to take it. They went as far [as] opening […] the door and shooting at her. There are two bullet holes.

    However, the bold thieves learned they were messing with the wrong Detroiter.

    “When I see him with the gun as he approached me to take the car, I lifted my gun up on the door and I began to shoot,” said C.C. “So when he shot I was shooting back.”

    She keeps her gun — .357 caliber Sig Sauer G2 — in the side door of her vehicle. She has a concealed carry permit. It’s her weapon of choice which she has trained with at area ranges. It holds 13 hollow point rounds. She emptied the clip at the thieves who scurried away near some abandoned homes.

    “All the residents of the city need to come together and take back this city from the thugs and the criminals that have taken over this city, and if you live in fear you’ll never bring this city back,” she said.

    Police Chief James Craig approves. I disapprove of her use of the word “thug”, though – that’s racis….oh, wait…never mind.

    In California, don’t go in strangers’ apartments, sit down and say crazy shit. To wit;

    Police said, according to the man living in the apartment, a man he didn’t know walked into his apartment, where the door was unlocked but closed.

    As detectives investigate exactly what happened, Lt. Mike Doyle with the Fresno Police Department said they are not ready to call it self-defense. He said no one else was in the apartment at the time.

    “According to the person who did the shooting–that he (suspect) walked in, sat down, and began making very peculiar statements, kind of crazy talk statements,” Doyle said.

    Doyle said, at some point, the man grabbed a shotgun from his room and shot the intruder.

    When police got there they found the man, who had been shot once, collapsed outside the apartment.

    In Texas, trying to rob a business owner isn’t recommended;

    Avant told police he was taking a cash bag from his car into the store when Mayweather approached him while he was inside of his vehicle. Mayweather then sprayed him with a type of pepper spray and began to hit Avant in his face.

    Avant said Mayweather took the money bag and left on a bicycle. That’s when Avant started chasing Mayweather behind AutoZone and the two exchanged gunfire. Avant was not hit, but Mayweather died on the scene.

    Those who live right behind the businesses say they never expected anything like this to happen.

    “I’m used to hearing gunshots and stuff here, you know, but it’s gotten better until this happened,” Wooten said.

    In Philadelphia, real bullets work better than blanks;

    While [an off-duty Philadelphia Police detective] was inside the family-run [Rising Sun Pizza] pizzeria waiting for his food, two other men entered the store. According to police, the men announced they were there to rob the pizzeria, and one of the men pulled out a gun and put it to the head of the detective, who was the only customer at the time. They took the $20 he was holding in his hand and made him get on the floor.

    Meanwhile, a Rising Sun Pizza employee and the son of the pizza shop’s owner were still behind the counter, and the suspects turned their attention to them. It was then that the detective announced himself as a police officer and pulled out his gun.

    Police say that’s when one of the would-be robbers started shooting, firing in the direction of the cop. Luckily, the crook decided to bring a six-shot blank gun revolver to the robbery — the cartridges produced noise and a muzzle flash, police said, but no projectiles — so the shooting did nothing to the cop.

    The off-duty detective responded with gunfire of his own, hitting the one who shot at him. Police say that suspect was shot multiple times in the torso by the cop. The two suspects ran out of the store, and the one shot in the torso fell over nearby on the 500 block of Tyson Avenue. That suspect, described as a 33-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.

    Finally, in Alabama;

    A home invasion early Friday morning has left one suspect dead after he was shot by the homeowner.

    The unidentified male is believed to have been shot by the female homeowner during a home invasion, according to Lt. Denise Barnes of the Montgomery Police Department.

    Police responded at 3:45 a.m. Friday to a call that someone had been shot in the 1700 block of Gibson Street. A male was found with life-threatening injuries at the scene and was transported to a local hospital, according to Barnes..

    He died several hours later.

    A busy night for everyone with the forces of good triumphing over evil. Thanks to Chief Tango for the links.

    Friday morning feel good story

    This morning’s story, from Missouri, is pretty skimpy on details, but an off-duty female police officer had to shoot a burglar who made the poorly considered decision to force his way onto her home. Apparently, a struggle between the two ensued and ending when the officer shot Mr. Criminal in the leg. Unfortunately, during the struggle, the officer was injured, as well. But it looks as though both the officer and Mister Criminal will recover.

    Thursday morning feel good stories

    Our stories begin in Texas this morning, as they often happen;

    “The suspect knocked on the front door, attempted to make contact with someone on the front door, and then went around to the back door and started trying to knock the back door in,” explained Lt. James Saulter.

    “As he was making entry, the homeowner started shooting rounds through the door,” Saulter added. “Evidence shows it was definitely a burglary.”

    Relatives of the suspect said Trent Sinyard, 32, was shot once in the back and also suffered a deep graze in the back of the head. Deputies confirmed that information.

    Sinyard’s family said that he was only looking for a missing doggie, but he didn’t seek treatment for the wounds because police found him hiding out in Mom’s attic.

    In Ohio, it’s more dangerous if you have nothing to do with a gun related incident;

    Two men had gone to a house to visit a resident and they began to argue with the person, Phalen said. The Old Gate Drive resident was pistol-whipped.

    The person who was injured then got a gun and the two parties exchanged shots, the sheriff said.

    No one was hit, but one bullet went through the siding of a house, Phalen said.

    You have to look beyond the target before you pull the trigger.

    On to Pennsylvania, where stun guns don’t always stun folks as much as you’d like to think;

    The homeowner received a text message at 11:45 p.m. from one of the teens, stating that she was having car trouble nearby and asking if she could come over. She and another suspect, Breyah Staude, arrived and were invited inside the home. Soon after their arrival, the homeowner noticed that his water was turned off, went outside to investigate and found that the water valve was purposely turned off. A short time later, the homeowner said he heard a car alarm system going off outside and immediately reached for a shotgun and loaded it with a single 12-guage shell. As he opened the front door to investigate, the homeowner was shocked on his left shoulder with a stun gun by a person wearing dark-colored clothing and a ski mask. The homeowner, fearing for his life, shot the person, who he later recognized to be Stoudt, someone he knew. The homeowner, along with Stoudt’s son and one of the other teens, dragged Stoudt to a nearby car so that he could be driven to a hospital, but Stoudt eventually died at the scene.Breyah Staude The three surviving suspects have been charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and related offenses.

    I’m pretty sure that one of those offenses they’re charged with is murder.

    Wednesday morning feel good stories

    Amy sends us a link to our first story which happened in Texas;

    The store’s owner tells KHOU 11 News that employees were about to close up for the night when four young men came into the store and tried to rob it. That’s when he says his employee pulled out a gun and shot one of them twice in the chest and stomach.

    The suspect stumbled, fell and died at the scene. The other three fled and got away.

    Customers were in the store at the time, but there were no injuries reported.

    According to the video report, the injured criminal stumbled out his getaway vehicle and it left him behind. Nice friends you have there, pal.

    Chief Tango sends one from Wisconsin;

    Police say a homeowner shot and wounded an intruder early Monday morning.

    The intruder was shot in the hip, according to a relative who asked not to be publicly identified. The relative said the homeowner is a Navy veteran with a concealed carry permit. That man’s wife and four children were inside the house when a burglar alarm went off in the garage.

    “Her husband went back there to check to see what happened,” the relative told TODAY’S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray. “There was guy in there. [The intruder] lunged at him. He didn’t know if he had a gun or what. He did end up shooting the guy.”

    The intruder was hospitalized and will remain in police custody after his medical treatment is complete. Police say the 45-year-old man is a convicted felon with previous convictions for burglary in 2000 and 2010. His record includes other crimes dating back to 1994.

    Another criminal career brought to an untimely end, at least temporarily. Of course, he ignored the signs warning of an alarm and dogs, so, my guess is that he’ll be back at it as soon as he can fit it into his schedule.

    Tuesday morning feel good stories

    AW1Ed sends us our first story this morning from Colorado, where three fellows were trying to move some stuff and three other fellows made the mistake of trying to rob them;

    According to police, two men helping a third move into a condo were stopped by three other younger men who attempted to rob them at gunpoint.

    “He produced a handgun and pointed it at the three movers demanding that they give them their money,” Metz said.

    Metz said two of the movers were about to hand over their money, but a third mover had his own gun and used it.

    “Fired multiple shots at the three subjects, striking all three,” he said. “One of the subjects sustained life-threatening wounds at the scene.”

    One robbery suspect died on the way to the hospital. A second robbery suspect suffered serious injuries. A third fled, but walked into to Aurora South Medical Center where he was arrested.

    The shooter had a concealed to carry weapons permit and put the gun down when he saw officers arriving.

    Chief Tango sends us some more stories, the first is from Chicago;

    The Chicago Tribune says that an off-duty correctional officer saw what was going on and stepped in to help.

    That led to a gunfight where the armed robber got shot in the leg, then drove himself to hospital.

    The off-duty officer wasn’t hurt. He was on his way to work when the incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Sunday near West Madison Street and St. Louis Avenue.

    I like helpful crooks who drive themselves to the hospital where they can be scooped up when the cops need them.

    Next up is Tennessee where they haven’t learned that old folks shoot because we can’t fight back;

    When officers arrived, the 70-year-old homeowner stated he was awakened by someone shining a light in his bedroom window. He then observed a man standing outside. The male suspect then broke the bedroom window and started to climb inside.

    The homeowner told officers that he then grabbed a pistol and fired it at the suspect, causing the man to fall back. The suspect then ran to a dark colored vehicle, got in the driver’s seat and sped off.

    While on the scene, officers received information that a man had just arrived at Holston Valley Medical Center with gunshot wounds.
