    Sunday morning feel good stories

In Thibodaux, Louisiana, a homeowner caught 45-year-old Dale Harris Jr. climbing into his shed. It seems that the homeowner had lost about a thousand bucks worth of fishing equipment the night before, so he busted a cap in Harris’ leg and held him at gun point until the police arrived to cart the thief away.

In Palmetto, Florida, Jonathan Friedman saw a man running from the scene next door when police arrived to investigate a burglary there. So, Friedman, grabbed his .357 Magnum and waited for the criminal to arrive. It didn’t take long for 28-year-old Michael Nelson to force his way into Friedman’s mobile home where he was confronted by the muzzle-end of the firearm as Friedman explained how he would have no problem ventilating Nelson. Nelson believed Friedman and calmly surrendered until police arrived.

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, 29-year-old Alberto Rodriguez-Macias conveniently shot himself in the abdomen with pistol he had in his waistband when police began chasing him while he burglarizing cars.

In Natchez, Mississippi, an armed, masked man tried to rob a barbershop, until the owner came out of the back room and fired a single shot at the robber. No one knows if the thief was struck by the bullet because he un-assed the AO so quickly.

In Orangeburg, South Carolina, a homeowner’s son, though he who lived nearby, noticed that his parents’ door was wide open even thought they weren’t home. He grabbed his shotgun and encountered the intruder who immediately un-assed the AO. The son followed him to his car and confronted him again. The thief fired off a couple of rounds and the responded in kind, all of the lead missing their targets. The thief’s image was caught on their security cameras, so they shared it on Facebook. Antonio Atroy Murphy, the thief, got tired of seeing his face on Facebook and turned himself in to the police.

If you can’t have a gun, you should get a dog – that’s the lesson we get from this New Orleans, Louisiana story where the family pit bull took a bullet for his owner when an invader caught her home alone, except for the small pit bull. When the intruder tried to force his way in the home, the dog raised a ruckus which allowed the woman to shut the door, but not before her dog took a round in the shoulder for her. Despite his injury, Mickey stayed by her side while she waited for police. She says that Mickey is back to being his playful self after a trip to the vet’s. Good dog!

    Saturday morning feel good stories

In Dayton, Ohio, a woman heard someone breaking into her house, she called 9-1-1 and waited more than an hour (63 minutes to be exact) for police to arrive while she was locked in her closet with her handgun. She ended up shooting and killing 22-year-old Debrandon Dickerson from Detroit, Michigan. He was DRT.

In Gregg County, Texas, 60-year-old Keith Weaver heard heard his dogs “a-barkin’” and went to check on them. He found a man standing in his house and two of his doors kicked in, so Keith took off after the man as he un-assed the AO, firing his gun as he chased the two men he saw running about a quarter of a mile down the road. He doesn’t think he hit either of them, but I’m pretty sure they won’t be back.

    Friday morning feel good stories

In Crockett County, Tennessee, according to the brief story, some home invaders started something when they broke into a house, that “something” was a gunfight with an armed homeowner. The police aren’t sure if anyone was shot, but the home invasion ended as abruptly as it started.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a man got out of his car near his home when he was approached by two men in the darkness. The licensed gun owner protected himself and made one of the thieves DRT while the other un-assed the AO.

In Detroit, Michigan, two youngsters thought a man accessing his ATM machine would be an easy mark. They pointed a rifle at him and told him to empty his pockets and he did, one bullet at a time, injuring both thieves. They got a round off and hit their intended victim in the leg. All are in the hospital recovering successfully from their wounds.

    Thursday morning feel good stories

Jerry920 and Bobo sent us a link from CBS News about how in St. Petersburg, Florida, Malachi Heisler had to shoot his father when his father came at him with a gun after forcing his way into the house ensconced in body armor and tacti-cool-wear. The elder Heisler had earned a restraining order from his ex-wife and had been arrested as a felon in possession of a gun a few months ago. This time, while in the darkness, he’d aimed a gun at his son, who was quicker on the draw and shot his father in the head. He didn’t know it was his father until after the damage was done – his father was wearing a ski mask. It also turns out that dear old dad had been brandishing a BB gun. Dad was DRT (dead right there).

I’m just wondering, has anyone ever successfully won back the love of their woman by holding her at gunpoint? It’s just that there are so many guys doing that these days, I wonder why they think it will work.

In Dayton, Ohio, a woman shot a burglar, he fled the scene, collapsed nearby and was declared DOT (dead over there) at the hospital. She’s also being credited with winging another burglar two years ago with her trusty sidearm.

An update to our story from yesterday which happened in Albuquerque, NM where a homeowner scored a DRT and a DOT, we add another DOT when police found the third suspect dead in his car. It may have been a self-inflicted gun shot wound that took him out. A fourth man has been arrested and claims that they were robbing a drug dealer, but he’s a criminal so who believes him?

In Youngstown, Ohio, a 90-year-old heard someone knocking at his door at about 12:30 in the morning. He ignored the knock, but soon after, he heard the sound of breaking glass on his porch, so he let loose with a round from his .357 Magnum pistol which sent the intruder off into the darkness before police could arrive. Us old people don’t want to make new friends in our homes at night…we’ll shoot you.

In Sweetwater, Tennessee, a persistent fellow was frightened away from a burglary job twice in the space of a couple of hours. The first time, he got away with a sunhat that was hanging outside the door that he couldn’t penetrate. The second time, he struggled with the fellow and discharged his firearm which frightened the criminal so badly that he abandoned the prized sunhat along with his sunglasses. He also un-assed the AO so quickly that he ran right out of his sneakers and left them behind, too.

    Wednesday morning feel good stories

The first story this morning comes from Albuquerque, New Mexico where a homeowner defended himself and his family from two, possibly three, people who tried to turn their lives around in a home invasion. The armed homeowner made one of the intruders DRT (dead right there) and another, taken to the hospital was declared DOT (dead over there).

In Raeford, North Carolina, Michael Bryant and his teenage son had their evening disturbed when two men broke into their mobile home with a shotgun. Michael was shot in the hand while he struggled with the men. The shot that injured Michael also hit one of the intruders in his face-housing group causing the two to un-ass the AO. One has been arrested and police are looking for the other.

In Wichita, Kansas, a 12-year-old girl punched a 16-year-old and 19-year-old who had forced their way into her home. The punch of a pre-teen girl sent the pair running for the hills in fear.

An update to yesterday’s story from Richmond, Virginia about two men who were stabbed, one with life-threatening wounds, well, your prayers worked and it was the bad guy who died from his wounds.

In Running Springs, California, it sounds from the story like the resident defended himself and his family from an invader and made the fellow DRT, but the story is very poorly written, so…

In Jackson Hole, Wyoming, they’re dealing with a different kind of home invaders. A black bear sow and her cub looking for grub broke through a screen door and sent the family scrambling. The government came and drugged up Momma real good before grabbing the delinquent child and carted them away.

In Bradenton, Florida, Steven Haynes is going to have a tough time in jail – the woman whose apartment he was robbing, beat him up, took possession of the items that he’d stolen from her and even took a picture of him before he left. The police rolled him when he reported to his probation officer later. To seal the deal, he had a spoon, a needle and heroin with him for the PO visit.

    Tuesday morning feel good stories

This is not our usual feel good story, it’s from Westborough, Massachusetts where 32-year-old George Carreau was trying to turn his life around with some laptops from the home of a guy who had been robbed the night before. When the homeowner came home, he noticed a strange car parked outside his home and the lights in his house were on. So Mister Homeowner went around back and ran into Mr. Carreau leaving. Homeowner guy, then confronted Carreau and held him down until police arrived and carted him off to the hoosegow.

In Richmond, Virginia, police arrived at the scene of an attempted home invasion where they found two men suffering from stab wounds. One had life-threatening injuries. Since the article says that the home invasion was “attempted” and police aren’t looking for criminals in regards to the crime, I’m guessing that at least one of the men was the criminal. Let’s pray it is the one whose life is threatened.

    Monday morning feel good stories

This morning, we start in Gresham, Oregon, where a resident of a mobile home was assaulted by four men and stabbed, but through the magic of superior firepower, the resident made one of the men DRT (dead right there) and putting another one in the hospital. A third man was treated and released to police custody and a fourth escaped injury, but not the police.

In Hartford, Connecticut, a business owner was assaulted in his home by three men, two of whom he shot with his legally owned firearm. The two who were wounded are property of the local police while their friend, the one who was unharmed, left them there and he’s in the wind.

    Sunday morning feel good stories

Our first story this morning comes from Sullivan Valley, Indiana where an enterprising gentleman tried to turn his life around with the contents of someone’s medicine cabinet. He made such a ruckus that the homeowner was awakened by the noise and, gun in hand, confronted the fellow who immediately un-assed the AO at a high rate of speed, but not before the homeowner’s surveillance system got some pictures from every angle, so it’s only a matter of time before he’s a guest of the state.

In Vancouver, Washington some folks came home to find a burglar in their home, so they busted a cap in his direction which sent him squirting out the back door. Police rounded him up later from a description given by the victims and he was unharmed. Well, until he meets his new room mate, he was unharmed.

In Twin Falls, Idaho, Travis Wiersma fired a warning shot over the head of an intruder he found in his home and held him there until the police arrived.

Not many good news stories this weekend. Most of them are bad news. To find a DRT, I had to ride the search engines all the way to Johannesburg, South Africa where a resident shot an intruder in his home.

It’s not that home invasions and burglaries are fewer – there are hundreds in the news searches just in the last few days. I guess the criminals are getting better at picking their victims.
