  • Ohio State attack

    According to CBS News, a 28-year-old Somali man, Abdul Razak Artan, mowed down students as they congregated after a gas leak was reported in one of the laboratories;

    At least nine people were injured Monday after a male suspect drove into pedestrians with a vehicle and attacked others with a knife at Ohio State’s campus.

    From the Dispatch;

    Peter Anderson, chairman of the department of materials science and engineering, said he arrived at Watts Hall after the attack was over.

    He said students told him that someone called in a fluorine leak in the building, which has lab facilities. As required during emergencies, the students congregated in the courtyard outside the building.

    He said the attacker drove a car into the courtyard. “It’s where we hold our ice cream socials and when something like this happens,”Anderson said.

    One victim was struck so hard that their body flew into the air and landed on a hard surface.

    We’ll probably have to wait to discover what his motivation was for the attack – I’m guessing Trump, or maybe he was upset that Romney might be the Secretary of State…the RINO.

  • Clinton’s “medical episode”

    A number of media outlets have claimed that Hillary Clinton left the ceremony at 9/11 Memorial Plaza this morning because of a “medical episode”. From Fox News;

    [Fox reporter, Rick] Leventhal said his source watched Clinton as she was standing on a street curb with her security detail while waiting for her motorcade.

    As the motorcade was not expecting her as early as she had left, Leventhal said, the Democratic presidential nominee stood for two or more minutes awaiting the vehicles.

    When the motorcade approached, Clinton “stumbled off the curb and appeared to faint” as she got into her van.

    Clinton appeared to need assistance getting into the vehicle, Leventhal said, losing her shoe.

    An aide grabbed the shoe as her van pulled away and gave it to the next vehicle in her motorcade.

    Her staff said that she was “overheated” – at 10 AM, the temperature was about 78 degrees in New York City.

    On Election Day, she’ll be 69 years old (October 26, 1947). Remember that Democrats told us that Dick Cheney was too old to be Vice President – he was 59 years old on Election Day, 2000 (January 30, 1941) – he left office a few days before he turned 68 years old..

  • 3 officers dead, 3 more injured in Baton Rouge

    According to the Washington Post, 3 police officers were killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and three more are injured.

    Details about the shooting remained unclear by Sunday afternoon, and police did not immediately say whether they believe the officers were targeted or if they were injured during a law enforcement action. The shooting happened in a region still on edge after police fatally shot a man there, sparking heated protests that prompted a heavy law enforcement response that some have questioned as unnecessarily forceful.

    The Post continues that this brings the total of officers killed this year to 30, up from 16 at the same time last year.

    The incident continues and this is a live link to local news.

    Added: It looks like it was nuthin’. The reports came from a single “witness” and the police can find no signs of guns being fired.

    Facts are still muddled, but someone reported gun shots in the Wounded Warrior facility at Naval Medical Center San Diego in Balboa Park;

    Reports are that SWAT has arrived on the scene, a command post has been established and police are conducting building searches.

  • Assailant shoots police officer, claims allegiance to Islamic State

    Assailant shoots police officer, claims allegiance to Islamic State

    ISIS shooting

    3E9 sends us a link to an article about Philadelphia police officer Jesse Hartnett who shot three times by an unnamed assailant. Miraculously, Officer Hartnett survived the encountered and managed to return fire and wound the assailant 3 times. The gun man fired 13 times.

    The gunman has claimed that he owes his allegiance to the Islamic State;

    The alleged assailant appeared to be targeting a police officer, Ross said. “He was trying to assassinate this police officer.”

    James Clarke, Philadelphia police homicide captain, told CNN the suspect said to investigators: “I follow Allah. I pledge my allegiance to the Islamic State and that’s why I did what a did.”

    The picture at the top of this page is from surveillance video, so yeah, it’s a miracle that the officer is still with us. Fox News says that the firearm was a stolen police weapon, stolen more than two years ago. That might make the President cry.

  • 6 US Troops KIA Near Bagram AB

    Fox news is reporting that 6 US troops have been killed in a suicide bombing IVO Bagram AB.  Two additional US personnel are reported to have been wounded, along with an Afghan interpreter.

    This Fox News story provides additional details.

  • San Bernadino shooting

    I don’t know what I can write about it because no one seems to know much about it. I know that the usual suspects are politicizing it. Like presidential hopeful Martin O’Malley;

    It seems to me that no members of the NRA have been involved in any of these “mass” shootings. We’re not even sure how many shooters there were, or if they’ve even left the area. I know my black SUV hasn’t left my garage today. I immediately counted all of my guns to make sure none of them flew to California today. None had. Shepard Smith keeps telling us that the shooting happened within two miles of the nearest Planned Parenthood clinic.

    I’m serious – California is serious. I think we need to make criminals serious about gun control.

    The president has added his helpful thoughts; the government needs to work to “curb shootings”. Thanks, Mister President.

  • Lonergan won’t be punished by George Williams College

    Lonergan won’t be punished by George Williams College

    Ryan Lonergan

    Last week, we talked about Ryan Lonergan, a veteran who came upon a student who was pretending to be a Marine officer in the cafeteria at George Williams College in Wisconsin. The college had temporarily suspended Lonergan from being on campus, except for attending classes while they investigated the incident. The Army Times reports that Lonergan won’t be punished;

    A former Wisconsin National Guard soldier who faced a hearing at his college after confronting a fellow student allegedly posing as a Marine officer won’t receive any punishment and is welcome back on campus after a limited ban.

    Former Spc. Ryan Lonergan, who deployed to Iraq during his time in uniform and is pursuing a master’s degree in social work at George Williams College in Wisconsin, was initially barred from the school’s campus except to attend class while school officials investigated the details of the Oct. 6 confrontation. He met with officials Monday and the matter was cleared up, school spokesman Steve McFarland said in a Wednesday interview.

    I guess the college got beat up pretty badly on their Facebook page – which they probably didn’t deserve.

    Thanks to Chief Tango for the link.
