  • More Blumenthal; Doug Sterner on CNN

    Our buddy, Doug Sterner, was on Rick Sanchez’ CNN show yesterday and apparently his opinion of CT AG Richard Blumenthal is that he purposely lied and hasn’t yet apologized;

Consensus is building. If Connecticut wants a liar formulating policy for them, that’s fine, but the rest of the country isn’t having it. We don’t want yet another phony soldier in the Senate.

  • Get The Shotgun….

If I saw the London 2012 Olympic mascots coming towards me in Arizona, I would probably be within my legal rights to blast them:

Apparently they are “gender-neutral”, which will make stuffed animal versions of these creatures perfect gifts for the children of DU posters.

  • A meeting brief in passing.

Since today was my Wife’s birthday today we stopped at a book store to use her gift card. So at the front of was a older man that was doing a book signing about his military history. His name was George S. Oliver Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired). He had served during WW2 and the Korean War among many years of services as a Company and Field grade Officer in places all over the world.

I guess I wussed out for awhile because I was not sure how to approach him. I mean having been in WW2 and the Koren War and a Officer over 50 years ago? Not much in common to start out on.

I did talk to him and it was odd at first in that there where many changes in how the military was back then and is now. I think the four things we had in common was we had history as enlisted, has been stationed at Fort Benning, had been to Alaska, and had been deployed. So after a brief conversation I bought the book and he signed it for me.

From just reading a few pages he does not spare any details in that it reads more like a blog then a cut and dry book about history of the Koren War. The page that I am reading is talking about when he was a XO of a Battalion of the 45th Division. He talks about having a Lt Colonel that was a National Guard that was going through the motions waiting for his rotation to end describing him as a Fobbit for lack of a better word.. He says it in such a way that it is easy to relate too.

He rarely left the CP, even to visit the companies of the line. When we had any action going on he would sit in the CP with a open telephone line to each of the forward companies and just sort of left the war go on around him. I had to accept that fact that I had to hold down the battalion together until a active duty Lt. Col. came to take his place.

Then he talks about talks about his first soldiers that where killed in action under his command. They where about to return home when they where killed by random Chinese Artillery round. Another case was about a guy that had “Battle Fatigue”.

He was a good man at leading night patrols, and as a result had been ordered to take out too many of them. When I saw him he was in our aide station with the S-2, who was in charge of patrolling and while his brain said he was willing to go out again his body simply wouldn’t function. The surgeon said, “Sorry Major. This man is going to the rear.” And he went to the rear and then on home.

The more I read into it I think that there will be a lot of things that the military reader can relate to. But I was wondering after we are done with all of this and we went through a painstaking process of remembering what we did and where. Would anyone be willing to listen to us?

  • The fire-and-forget dog missile

This may be old, or it may be training, but I thought it was the coolest police dog video.

    superpolicedog

You may have to watch it a few times to get all of the action. Before the sharpshooters start in; yes, I see the padded non-firing hand and I know real firearms don’t generate big puffs of thick smoke when fired. Who cares? Did you see the dog jump over that  (wienie European) car?

Thanks to Mom for the .gif

  • The end is near.

Well looks like the HMMWV is officially being phased out with the last orders being put in for this year. But since the HMMWV has been in service for so long I thought it would be fitting to write something about what I remember about it.

I have been in the soft shell versions, to the ambulances to the Up-armored ones. They have taken me all over Fort Benning Georgia, to Fort Irvin California to the different bases in Iraq. I sat as a passenger in every seat and even drive them. I even got a chance to ride in a Iraqi HMMWV. All in all a lot of memories but over all a long overdue for being replaced.

Also I am sure that there are other stories that our readers willing to share.

  • The Two State Question.

I want to shift topic up a bit since what has been happening in the Israel. One of the things that I had thought a while back after the Fatah and the Hamas splitting the West Bank and Gaza was that this was a chance for the Fatah to have a fresh start. That is they really wanted to seek a two state solution that they could do it with having to deal with Hamas.

But it seems that for the most part that the West Bank is not that interesting compared to Gaze. That perhaps a real chance for peace could happen. Then why is Israel so focused on added more settlements in that area? I know that there will be a difference of opinion on this one so I wanted to see what is the point of all this.

I can imagine that Hamas is looking for the next propaganda jackpot and this just plays right into their hand making dealing with Gaze that much harder. More so now since Hamas seems to be falling out of favor since their original elections.

So what good is a few new houses going to do here?

  • Random Photo relating to the increased college cost.

Also I could not help but notice that the signs say SocialistWorker on the bottom.

I get that grammar errors happen but if your going to protest about increased tuition for college education, perhaps you should double check it first before becoming your own worst argument. I mean you are on FailBlog, the mother of the Epic Fail. Sucks to be you.

  • I’m Not On Welfare You Entitled Asshole

The big controversy at Arizona State right now is the planned increase of tuition by about ten percent and a $1000 dollar “economic recovery surcharge” for students. Of course everybody is playing the blame game about the tuition hikes. As a result, some pretty ridiculous claims and demands are being made about the whole issue of tuition hikes and funding for colleges.  In this post, I want to discuss how many students feel entitled to a free higher education.
