  • Gordon Duff: Sky diving off the cliffs of insanity

I love reading left wing conspiracy theorists. Mind you we have them on the right just as bad, but the left ones always amuse me. (I was going to do a piece yesterday on Conservative ones, but Peskoff pissed me off so I am holding until Monday.) And there is no better conspiracy theorist than Gordon Duff of Veterans Today. Mind you Duff is the Senior Editor of Veterans Today, which is why you should only read for the entertainment value, not as a news source. I will actually kill two birds with one stone, since Duff is writing about the O’Keefe break in, so our douchey troll should be satiated on his need to read about that case.

Mind you, we know now that the original reporting on this case really sucked donkey balls. And everyone has acknowledged that by now, including MSNBC which properly chastised Shuster over his dumb ass and illconceived tweets. For a good wrap-up go read Patterico, but the two takeaways that should be noted are this Washington Post retraction:

Earlier versions of this story incorrectly reported that James O’Keefe faced charges in an alleged plot to bug the office of Sen. Mary Landrieu. The charges were related to an alleged plot to tamper with a phone system. The headline incorrectly referred to a plot to bug the phone and a caption incorrectly referred to an alleged wiretap scheme….

    and this sentence later:

A law enforcement official says the four men arrested for attempting to tamper with the phones in the New Orleans office of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D) were not trying to intercept or wiretap the calls.

Anyway, the point here is that contrary to first reports, this wasn’t some grand scheme, and the reality is it likely will amount to jack shit in the way of punishment. (That per a Federal Prosecutor.)

So there is the context. Now let’s look at the plot according to Duff man:

This week, a “Watergate” type attack on the Federal Building in New Orleans was thwarted when 4 “black bag” operatives, one the son of US Attorney, William J. Flannigan, whose offices were in the same building, were arrested “in the act.”

Another of the men, James O’Keefe is a close associate of Texas Republican and Member of Congress, Pete Olson. Olson’s campaign to recover convicted Rep. Tom Delay’s seat from the Democrats was financed by rogue billionaire Dan Duncan, noted for his helicoper/machinegun trophy hunting trips to Russia.

That there is how to form a conspiracy theory folks! Those two paragraphs have it all: Black Bag operatives, US Attorneys, two Irish conspirators, and helicopter/machinegun trophy hunting trips in Russia. Dude, it’s like a Tom Clancy novel crossed with Dumb and Dumberer. What we truly need though is a tie in to torture and Gitmo, but we have to wait until paragraph 3 for that one:

Suspects, even American citizens, who commit crimes like this one are sent to Guantanamo, subjected to “waterboarding” and years of detention, unless, of course, they have friends in high places, friends who want terrorists dealt with harshly unless those terrorists are their friends or family.

Really? How many US Citizens have been waterboarded at Gitmo Gordon? I’m guessing you could count them all on your shrivelled phallus.

This is where it gets REALLY GOOD:

Senator Mary Landreiu is senior member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, making her office and communications the most classified of any elected official in the United States outside the President. Nearly every national secret involving the security of the United States passes through those offices. Information accessed thru the attempted wiretap and breakin could enable any terrorist organization full access to our most sensitive materials regarding counter-terrorism, intelligence coordination and active ongoing operations.

Information under the highest classification levels from the FBI, CIA, NSA, DIA, DHS , NSC and Whitehouse along with secure “chatter” between House and Senate members and their staffers on homeland security issues would have been accessed. On the “intelligence market,” as described by former FBI translator, Sibel Edmonds, information of this kind is regularly accessed and sold by individuals directly connected to those arrested, sold to enemies of the United States. We are still waiting for the Attorney General to act on these now very substantiated allegations.

Awesome! Now, who is behind this nefarious effort? Why, the JOOOOOS of course!

Those arrested had worked for “journalist” Andrew Beitbart, known Israeli Supporter and prominent voice of powerful Israeli advocate Rupert Murdoch thru his Fox News network and Wall Street Journal. Breitbart is linked to the neo-con controlled Towhall.com and Drudge.com, known for their consistently anti-administration views. Breitbart denies that any of those arrested, though closely associated with him, were acting directly under his orders when the espionage occurred.

I won’t go through the rest of it, but you should go read it. This dude is nuttier than squirrel droppings. And yet some folks persist in believing you can trust information that appears on Veterans Today. Well, you can be sure that Veterans Today, and Veterans Today alone will get to the bottom of all this:

No TV spy could be given such advantages or such protections, especially the protections of the press blackout that we are seeing now, seemingly manipulated through Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, Rupert Murdock and friends. Is Andrew Bretbart, Brentwood resident, pro-Israeli activist and ultra-right winger at the heart of this? Is anyone asking? Is anyone looking?

Thank God you are Gordon. Thank God.

BTW: Landrieu is not the “senior member” of the committee, that doesn’t even make sense. The Committee was only formed in 2005, and Lieberman is the Chairman. Before that it was Susan Collins. Additionally, the Committee has it’s own office, and it is in DC, not in New Orleans. So why in the hell would Landrieu have classified docs there rather than in the DC office? She wouldn’t, Duff is just an idiot who knows nothing what-so-ever about the workings of Congressional Committees.

UPDATE: BWAHAHAHAHA. Read his latest too:

Ask any American, or, in fact prettymuch anyone around the world what President Obama’s biggest failing is and they will always say the same thing. Bush is out of prison, proof Obama is a coward or part of the same gang. All any of us wanted was our country back. It isn’t like there weren’t crimes any prosecutor could prove. We spend billions trying to convict children and mental defectives we kidnap off the street of terrorism and we have a gang here, still running their mouths, running free that is responsible for the deaths of 10,000 Americans, destroying the lives of 400,000 more, killing between 1 and 2 million around the world, 98% innocent civilians, and robbing America blind.

  • Odds and Ends

OK, so TSO is feeling better today, I left my cranky pants at home. Nothing major to write about, just a couple of things to ask/write about, and rather do an omnibus post that a bunch of independant junk.

    1) Any of our readers play the board game Diplomacy? I am looking for a place to play online, and the place I used to go to play it seems offline. For those who haven’t played Diplomacy, it is a phenomenal game, sort of a thinking man’s Risk. It was allegedly the favorite game of JFK and Kissinger. Anyway, if anyone out there plays, or knows of a place that has online judges, kindly let me know.

    2) I was uber-psyched after work yesterday to go home and watch me some TV. Obviously I was a bit fired up yesterday, probably on account of the 4 bowls of Cookie Crisp I had at lunch…well, that and the fact that I am still offended by how that corpulent Oklahoma lawyer is fleecing folks. Anyway, Wednesday is my favorite TV night because my two favorite shows are on, although unfortunately at the same time. I usually watch Psych, and DVR Mantracker. Every time Caro and I get together we watch Psych together, and I think it is the best written show on TV today.

But everytime I say I love watching Mantracker everyone always asks how often I watch the Gay TV station. Now, admittedly I have a bit of a mancrush on the Mantracker, but who wouldn’t? Dude is the shi’ite. Anyway, watch this quick video, maybe you will get hooked too. I own every season on DVD.

Oh, and just to make yesterday a complete wash, I couldn’t watch Psych because my cable kept pixilating (sp?) the USA network. So don’t spoil it for me by telling me how Shawn and Jules hooked up.

    3) I am currently reading an outstanding book entitled The Only Thing Worth Dying For: How Eleven Green Berets Forged a New Afghanistan, by Eric Blehm. The publicist very kindly sent me a copy to review, the first such time that has happened. Now, I haven’t read far enough to do a proper book review yet, but my preliminary statement is: Go out and buy this book. Seriously, it will give you a depth of understanding about Hamid Karzai that you didn’t have before. I worked on Karzai’s protective detail for a while in Ghan, and talked to some of the DynCorps guys that had been his guards for a long time, so I already knew the guy was fearless, but this book will show you how brilliant he is too. If all you read is how corrupt the Karzai Gov’t is, and how they are untamable etc etc etc, go deeper into the story and read this. You’ll get a stronger appreciation of just what he faces over there, and how dedicated he is to creating a free Afghanistan. My key emotional feeling when reading it is shame that I wasn’t tough enough to make the SF, but so it goes. You guys seldom listen to me, but you really ought to purchase and digest this book.

  • Branum you stupid moran

    branum
So Branum went back and changed his website, as I suspected he would. Only, the dipshit didn’t realize the misspelling of “persecuted” is in his graphic.

Dude, what do you do when you are not busy screwing over your clients? Do you just sit there reading our blog waiting for a mention of you? Got the handlotion and the wet-naps all set to spill your retarded seed into everytime someone mentions your name? Got any other hobbies besides screwing over clients, reading us and waxing the dolphin?

    get-a-brain-moran

UPDATE: All Branum all the time. Any lawyers in the house?

    21853_268310042022_268307342022_3771959_6863098_n

OK, so here is the point, our anonymous CO is not charged with anything. So how can Branum solicit donations for a legal defense, when no legal defense is needed? I mean, putting aside the obvious that the military would supply you with legal representation if you were in need of defense anyway. But, does it not violate ethical standards in Oklahoma to raise funds under a false pretense?

Just for shits and giggles, here is the Oklahoma Bar Association complaint form. But I would like a lawyer to advise (or “advice”) if this violates legal ethics, since I don’t know much about that.

  • Deploy the Branum Bat Signal!

    branum-bat-signal1

From Brown Neck Gaitor comes a potential client for Branum:

U.S Army soldier was arrested Monday in Volusia County. Deputies say he stole a military Humvee and took off.

Deputies say Private Sean Johnson drove the Humvee from his army base at Fort Stewart in Georgia all the way into Volusia when he ran out of gas. A Volusia County deputy saw the vehicle stranded on Interstate 95 near the Port Orange exit and stopped to check it out. He got suspicious when Johnson didn’t have any military paperwork to prove he was on a military mission.

The deputy called the Army. Army police say Johnson was AWOL and had stolen the Humvee earlier in the week. Johnson is in the Volusia County jail facing grand theft charges.

Branum has gotten more criminals off the streets than anyone I can name with the possible exception of Joe Arpaio. Matter of fact, I am considering giving him a donation to assist in incarcerating more of these numbnuts.

Let’s give Branum some time off and help him prepare the defense. On this one I think I would argue that Johnson was 8 months pregnant, and those dirty bastards in the Army refused to give him the proper pre-natal care he needed and he was left with no recourse but to steal a humvee and run for it. He was enroute to Canada where he figured Pez Dispenser Kimberly Riviera could talk him through the birth.

(I warned you I was pissed off today.)

  • What’s in a name?

So Ms Clark managed to piss me off early today by calling me “dear”, which is about the most condescending appelation I can think of shy of “Dickhead” or “Poopypants” so you can expect a few more rants out of me today, unless it burns off.

Anyway, was trolling through VetVoice to try and lighten my mood. Jonn has already discussed their meetings on the Hill and such. Frankly, from the looks of it, they completly wasted their time. The managed to only lobby folks who had already made up their mind, which isn’t lobbying, it’s just dumb. But, something stuck out to me:

Our day began with a meeting at the offices of New Security Action, a fellow member, with VoteVets.org, of the Campaign to Close Guantanamo. We were met by New Security Action co-founder and former Congressman Tom Andrews (D-ME).

Well, I never heard of New Security Action, so I figured I would go to their website. That states:

New Security Action is a 501(c)4 organization seeking to promote progressive solutions to our national security challenges. After eight long years of the failed Bush/Cheney approach, the American people want to see a safer, saner foreign policy. Founded by former Congressman Tom Andrews (ME-1) and Lt. Gen. Robert G. Gard (USA ret.), New Security Action is currently working to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay in a way that respects human rights.

Standard lefty boilerplate, but at least they didn’t seem to be far left wackos. But, something about Andrews and Gard set me to thinking. Gard I have read about, he’s a typical retired General cum Peace Activist. Straight out of the Ann Wright mold. Pretty much all his wheels are off the track. I’ve run across him before because he is with “Veterans For America” which according to wiki is itself an offshoot of “Veterans for Common Sense.” Now you already know how much I love those clowns and their idiot-in-chief Paul Sullivan who decided to malign returning Vets within seconds of the Ft Hood shootings. Let me refresh your memory:

“I’m very upset. I’m at the point of tears,” said Paul Sullivan, executive director of Veterans for Common Sense, who lives in Austin.

“We warned the military about this. We warned the military about the need to increase the number of mental health care providers. We warned the military about lowering recruiting standards, about the medical exams for soldiers coming back from the war and needing mental health care and brain injury exams.”

So anyway, you can see Gard associates himself with morons and spurious thinkers.

But the Tom Andrews was even more interesting. Andrews used to be the Congressman from Maine, my birth state. And I’ve pretty much thought he was a loser since I first met the guy. When he went on to found “Win Without War” I pretty much knew he’d jumped the shark, the boat, the ocean and the solar system. If you don’t know about WWW, they are frutier than Mexican Bat Droppings:

Win Without War is a coalition of national organizations representing broad constituencies that aim to keep America safe. The coalition advocates that international cooperation and enforceable international law provide the greatest security for the United States and the world. WWW offers a mainstream, patriotic voice for engaging opinion makers, activating concerned citizens, and communicating effectively to the media.

Now, in this coalition are all the usual suspects, Veterans for Peace, Feminist Majority, Peace Action, Physicians for Social Responsibility etc. Now, flash back to September of 2007, as the surge was starting. Liberal Democrat Brian Baird decided that he would go to Iraq to see what the “on the ground truth” was. He left as a darling of the left, and MoveOn, but when he saw that the surge was working and told his folks that, the lefties went apeshit on him. Now, here is a news article from the time:

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Robert Gard presided over an anti-war rally Thursday night that sometimes took on the trappings of a spiritual revival.

No one shouted “amen,” but Gard’s criticisms of U.S. Rep. Brian Baird’s support for President Bush’s troop increase in Iraq yielded several “yeahs.” And Gard’s condemnation of the president drew a standing ovation.

Of course we know now that the surge worked, Baird was right, and the situation has stabilized to the point where we are pulling out as fast as logistics will allow because we just don’t need to be there anymore. Now, here is where it gets interesting:

About 260 people came to hear Gard, who served as an assistant to Defense Secretary Robert McNamara during the Vietnam War. Also speaking was former U.S. Rep. Tom Andrews, a Maine Democrat who once served on the House Armed Services Committee.

“Your district, like it or not, is in the national spotlight,” said Andrews, national director of Win Without War, which co-sponsored the event with MoveOn.org. “You have a huge responsibility to pay attention to this issue.”

Gard accused the U.S. military, in the past year, of altering its manner of reporting combat statistics to skew a perception of success for the troop increase.

So, in addition to discovering that Gard thinks the military lies, we also know that Gard and Allen were working together in Win Without Wars. From there it only took me a few minutes to verify that Win Without Wars just turned into New Security Action. Here is the contact page for Win Without Wars and here it is for New Security Action. Notice that both of them use the same phone number, (202) 822-2075.

I loathe these people. They make all these doom and gloom predictions about things, then when they are proven incorrect, rather than admit it, they just change the fucking name of their organization. How about a little honor or integrity? How about admitting on your website that you used to operate under the less palatable name of “Win Without Wars”? You see groups like this popping up all the time, and nary a one admits that it is just the same as the one preceeding it, only they just wanted to start over.

And VoteVets is running around with these assclowns. Go ahead, change your name all you want, it won’t change the fact that you were wrong about Iraq, and wrong now. And in 5 years Tom Andrews will be with a new organization with the same zebra stripes as this one, only telling us that this time it is black on white stripes, and the other was white on black.

New Security Action has no integrity, and any organizations like VoteVets that would affiliate with them display the same lack of honesty. Like we argued below, when you march under a banner, you better fucking read it first, because if you forget or try to disavow later, TAH will be here to call you on your bullshit.

UPDATE: More proof that they are the same. Ryan Anderson:

    Win Without War

So the major blogger over there is Danielle Belton. No bio over there, but you think it is the same Danielle Belton that is “The Black Snob“?

UPDATE X2: Just to make it a little more fun, and to play that “6 degrees of Separation” game with IVAW…. VoteVets works with New Security Action, which is actually Win Without Warfare, who farms out their PR to Fenton Communications, which at one point Matthis Chiroux claimed to work for, and Matthis is the de facto leader of IVAW. Actually, that is only 5, but you get the idea. There is more inbreeding in the anti-war movement than in Egyptian Royal families.

  • Valerie Jarrett ruined my lunch

So, here’s the love missive I got from the Obama White House at lunch today:

Tomorrow evening, President Obama will stand before a joint session of Congress and deliver his first State of the Union address outlining where we are and where we’re going as a Nation. In preparation for this annual address, he asked his Cabinet to take a moment to prepare a similar report for the American people.

In short videos, members of the President’s Cabinet report back to you on their progress this first year and outline what lies ahead for their departments and agencies to keep America moving forward. Secretary Sebelius talks about the Department of Health and Human Services’ successes helping to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus; Department of Energy Secretary Chu highlights the thousands of green jobs they’ve created using Recovery Act dollars; and Secretary Clinton details the Department of State’s efforts to restore global partnerships.

There is so much fodder here it just makes me swoon. So far my favorite is this one. Just watch it, and then lose your mind in the comments.

This one is an even bigger crock:
