Stolen Valour Canada presents Oh Danny Boy! – Master Corporal Daniel (Fon Fon) Lafontaine CD

Our friends North of the Border send us their work on Daniel Donald Lafontaine.

Of particular concern to us, his claim of being held, along with a Corporal as a “hostage” by the Serbs for 31 days in 1995.

SVC is well aware of hostage incidents involving Canadians that occurred in the UN’s Bosnia-Herzegovina Command including those involving Canadian Army units in Bosnia (GT 12e RBC, RCD BG, 3 R22eR and Canadian UN Military Observers) over the course of the UN Protection Force mission.

There is no open source evidence that CF personnel were held in excess of one month by any of the warring factions. However, given the press coverage of actual hostage events, it’s difficult to believe there’s absolutely no record of the event Lafontaine describes…

This guy was sporting the fake POW type of claim.  The lowest of the low.  He also claimed a bunch of other stuff and its too early for me to start drinking anything from Unibroue, my universal translator lube.  Stolen Valour Canada did an outstanding job on this case.  Please give it a read HERE.

  • Pentagon Wants Army, Marine Corps to Select Higher-Caliber Grunts

Pentagon Wants Army, Marine Corps to Select Higher-Caliber Grunts

We don’t make this stuff up,  there are people who do it for us.   From military.com

The Close Combat Lethality Task Force is trying to identify “best-of-breed science and programs” to find young Marines and soldiers who have the right mix of physical and mental endurance to excel in close combat, according to Sgt. Maj. Jason Wilson, the senior Army enlisted representative for the task force.

WTF is a Close Combat Lethality Task Force?   Do they get a Patch, Tab, Pin or some kind of Tiera?  The thought of this CCLTF makes me tingle in naughty places.

“We want to be able to get those soldiers identified early, to find out, ‘Do you have the leadership potential to be in the infantry, do you have the mental stability to be able to be in the infantry’ and do they have the resilience and the mental capacity to be able to handle some of the things that they may see in the infantry — to be able to overcome that adversity and bounce back,” Wilson told a group of defense reporters Wednesday at the Pentagon.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis launched the task force in March to find ways of helping the services as well as Army Special Operations Command become more lethal at their craft.

“Close combat is an environment characterized by extreme violence within line of sight of the enemy, where historically the vast majority of military combat casualties occur,” Wilson said. “It is a tough job for anybody, to be able to … close with and destroy the enemy. … That is our purpose.”

There we have it, we need to fix this combat environment so it’s not so scary.  Who wants to be so up close and personal with the enemy anyway?  And, all those casualties…that is just uncalled for.

But the infantry has often been characterized as a career field that does not require high intelligence.

“We are looking to get the infantry to where it is not a place where we send soldiers that don’t have the mental capacity to do other jobs,” said Wilson, who has been an infantryman for 23 years. “I’m not saying that everybody in the infantry is bad, but we want to get away from close combat forces, you know, being a place for soldiers that don’t meet the requisite criteria to be an intel analyst.”

I have been a Platoon Sergeant in Combat Arms, you can not imagine the wasted intellectual might that hides in reserve.   I had some real Einsteins in the crowd.  I figured there were a couple of Ph.D.’s hidden in those Platoons.  When they were not licking the urinal cakes I had them practicing the manner in which they were going to charge an enemy machine gun nest.  We used to sit in the field at night, nestled in the swamp with the fog of mosquitoes swarming about and regurgitated  Nietzsche quotes.  I used to thank an imaginary God every night that those Grunts had not figured out how to lick their own balls or nothing on the Lt’s fictional training schedule who have been accomplished.  The horror, the horror…

Yep, bursting with covert Intel Analysts…that’s the plan.  Who is going to burn the shitters in this new age of intellectual giants?   Every Grunt is really just a bag of brains.  FMTT

  • Army missed recruiting goals, shrinks.

    Army missed recruiting goals, shrinks.

New recruit cadets stand in line to be processed. The Army missed its 2018 recruiting goal by 6,500. (Bryan Ilyankoff/Army)

According to this Army Times article, recruiting is not going so well.

A year ago, Army officials were touting a plan to increase the force by 7,500 soldiers in fiscal year 2019. That didn’t happen.

Today’s active duty end strength stands at 476,000, the head of personnel management at Army headquarters told reporters on Friday. If that number sounds familiar, it’s because it’s last year’send strength goal.

This year’s end strength target was supposed to be 483.500 in the active Army.

“We did miss our accessions target, and we’re going to miss end strength,” Maj. Gen. Joseph Calloway said.

The Army started out fiscal year 2018 with an ambitious task: To bring in 80,000 new active duty soldiers, about 11,000 more than they netted the previous year, when the service made a 180-degree turn from a drawdown to a sharp build-up.

They left some recruits on the table?

“We honestly left some potential recruits on the table who completely met standards,” Calloway said ? 1,500 to 1,800, he added.

Still, the service issued about 7,600 waivers for recruits who had never served before but who, on paper, had a disqualifying medical condition or conduct issue. As of the end of August, that was 1,660 for behavioral or legal issues and 5,062 for physical issues like eyesight, hearing and so on.

The recruiting shortages came mostly in military occupational specialties that are already under-strength, like field artillery, air defense artillery, intelligence and satellite communications, he said.

Deaf, Dumb, and Blind with an attitude problem … but do they respect gender pronouns?

The Army is still offering up to $40,000 in bonuses, two-year enlistments and student loan repayment to get people in the door, but, Calloway said, the service is counting on some other metrics to help it get to that number this year.

See, this is where they are going wrong.  There are too many zeros in the numbers they are using.  It just confuses young recruits.  They need to go back to a simple less confusing time like this:

I got a nice room with 60 other new friends, a meal card to eat and during my second enlistment, they put AC in the barracks.   We didn’t need any stinking $40,000 in bonuses.   I checked into Camp Lejeune the first time and was going through the chow line and thought I had it made.  The kinda screened in windows and large slow moving fan blades gave the place that feel of comfort I was longing for.  When I got to the desserts in the chow line they had bread pudding just like Ma made when she was home on work release.  It looked so good, but when I picked up a plate the damn raisins all flew away.   No worries, I had to figure out what to do with all that $350.  Old timers used to tell me the entire Corps fought the Korean war with less money than I was being paid.  I felt guilty.

“We’re tossing away some of the old methods,” said Marshall Williams, the deputy assistant secretary of the Army for manpower and reserve affairs. “That person we’re going after today is so completely different.”

    You got that right skippy.

  • Saturday morning feel good stories.

    Saturday morning feel good stories.

    From  COLUMBIA, SC

An employee at China Kitchen Restaurant allegedly shot a man who police believe was trying to rob the eatery, according to a statement Friday from the Columbia Police Department. The worker will not be charged, and police are calling the case “self-defense.”

When police arrived on the scene at the Forest Drive restaurant at about 11 p.m. Thursday, they found a man on the ground who had been shot in the upper body, according to the statement. He was wearing all black and a covering over his face.

Employees told police the man entered the store with a gun and demanded money from the register, according to the statement. One employee tried to grab the gun away from the man.

A struggle ensued and another employee shot the burglar, according to police. That other employee was carrying his own gun, police said. The suspected robber was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the statement.

    From ANCHORAGE, AK

A man suspected of robbing an Anchorage tanning salon was shot by a person inside the business.  Anchorage police apprehended the robbery suspect and are seeking the shooter.

Police just after noon Friday took a call of shots fired on west Dimond Boulevard.  Investigators learned a man had robbed Sunsation Tanning Salon but was shot by a man inside. Both men fled.

Police found the robbery suspect in a vehicle near Dimond Boulevard and King Street. Police say he suffered a gunshot wound to the lower body that is not life-threatening.

    From BROOKLAND, AR

Police in northeast Arkansas say a suspect was fatally shot by an employee during an apparent attempted robbery at a vape shop.

Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd says officers responded to a shots fired call Thursday afternoon at Emerald’s Triangle LLC near Brookland, about 125 miles northeast of Little Rock. Boyd says the robbery suspect was found dead when officers arrived.

Authorities are still investigating what led to the fatal shooting, but Boyd says a store associate shot the suspect. No arrests have been made.

Emerald’s Triangle says no employees were injured.

  • National POW/MIA Recognition Day

    National POW/MIA Recognition Day

Presidential Proclamation on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, 2018

Throughout American history, the men and women of our Armed Forces have selflessly served our country, making tremendous sacrifices to defend our liberty. On National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we honor all American prisoners of war and express our deep gratitude for the courage and determination they exemplified while enduring terrible hardships. We also pay tribute to those who never returned from the battlefield and to their families, who live each day with uncertainty about the fate of their loved ones. These families are entitled to the knowledge that their loved ones still missing and unaccounted for will never be forgotten.

As a Nation, it is our solemn obligation to account for the remains of our fallen American service members and civilians and to bring them home whenever possible. We owe an incalculable debt of gratitude to these patriots who gave their last full measure of devotion for our country. For this reason, I have pledged my Administration’s best efforts to account for our country’s missing heroes. We continue to work to account for the missing personnel from the Vietnam War. American and partner nation search teams are also working tirelessly in South Korea, Europe, the South Pacific, and elsewhere around the world to recover and identify those who served in World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, and other past conflicts.

During my meeting with Chairman Kim Jong Un of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in June, I raised my concern for the thousands of grieving American families whose loved ones remain missing from the Korean War uncertainty. As a result, I secured a commitment from Chairman Kim to recover and repatriate the remains of those Americans who were prisoners of war or killed in action. Last month, we repatriated the remains of some of those courageous service members to American soil. As a result of this homecoming, two of our missing fallen have already been identified, renewing our hope for the fullest possible accounting of the Americans who have yet to be recovered from the Korean War. These recovery efforts are vital to fulfilling our Nation’s promise to leave no fellow American behind.

On September 21, 2018, the stark black and white banner symbolizing America’s Missing in Action and Prisoners of War will again be flown over the White House; the United States Capitol; the Departments of State, Defense, and Veterans Affairs; the Selective Service System Headquarters; the World War II Memorial; the Korean War Veterans Memorial; the Vietnam Veterans Memorial; United States post offices; national cemeteries; and other locations across the country. We do this, each year, to recognize those who have suffered the horrors of enemy captivity, those who have still not returned from war, and the families who have yet to lay their loved ones to rest with the honor and dignity they deserve.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim September 21, 2018, as National POW/MIA Recognition Day. I call upon the people of the United States to join me in saluting all American POWs and those missing in action who valiantly served our country. I call upon Federal, State, and local government officials and private organizations to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this
twentieth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand eighteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-third.

    DONALD J. TRUMP

  • Taking a knee is not tolerated … unless you pull the race card while doing it.

There must be greater minds than mine out there who can explain when it is acceptable to take a knee.  Personally, I think to make a spectacle out of yourself is little more than a cry for attention in any case.   Coach could have taken a knee before coming onto the field or he could have done it quietly on the sidelines.  “Oh Look At Me” displays do not impress me but fair is fair.  I do not think this Coach believes in his cause any less than Kapperdick believes in his.  One is chastised and one is revered.

  • There are some people who are obviously confused.

There are several topics I have refrained from commenting about to a large degree.   I am one of those people who sleeps well at night because I don’t honestly give a shit about certain things.  I can not be compelled to give a shit about them and I have no intention of pretending I give a shit about some things.

Jonn thought I should write an article about the entire Bernath debacle.  I would rather spend that time watching old people fuck.  The fixation people had with that clown was nonsense.  Why Bernath himself and many others chose to banter on with each other escapes me.  I talked with him on a few occasions, it became apparent to me that spending any more time than I absolutely had to on anything Bernath related was a waste of my time.

Dallas still sends me an email now and then, but once again…I could give a shit less.  Altered pictures of me are posted online, statements are made about me, false accusations and so on.  I honestly do not give a shit and I never will.  I am not a Priest, I have no desire to be respected by people who do not know me and outside of the TAH group and Beirut veterans, you could put all the people I give a shit if they take another breath into a very small room.

I get the death threats and threats to those close to me, I sleep just fine.  If you really want to kill me then just do it and stop being a pussy about it.  Nothing reeks of cowardice like an empty threat from someone without the balls to act on it.  I do not care who knows what I do and I never have.  Jonn and I shared that thought.  If you want to kill yourself for whatever reason, I do not give a shit.  Call someone who does… I am not that guy.    There are upwards of 45,000 charities in this country that claim to be in the business of kissing your ass, I suggest you take them up on it.

Doing Stolen Valor related work is not for everyone.  All of us that do this work have our moments.  I hate to see anyone let this shit get them down.  Jonn did this work longer than just about anyone…there are a few exceptions.  I tried to step back into the shadows at one point,  Jonn denied my request.

Things are moving along, not as quickly as we would like but we are getting there.  The usual legal threats keep showing up.  This guy comes to mind.   Please don’t tell me you are getting a lawyer and blah, blah, blah, just have them contact us in writing directly.  We will have new challenges to face as time goes on.  I understand there is a video posted by Don Shipley on his site about things.   He could use and deserves our support and heartfelt thanks for all he does.  It is no secret that Shipley is not my cup of tea.  We have no contact outside of a short professional call from him now and then.  He does his own thing and so long as I am not writing checks to pay for anything he does, I don’t care what he does.  Jonn defended him to the last.  It’s easy for some people to throw stones from the cheap seats and criticize Don.  He ain’t perfect and makes no claim to be so.  He gives a shit about a whole lot more than I do, I gotta respect that.

I count on you people to make me stand corrected when I am wrong.  I expect to be criticized and have what I write critiqued.  Jonn let everyone speak their mind here, that will continue so long as I have any say in the matter.  The few exceptions he made to that rule were his to enforce.  This is not ‘MY’ site, this is “YOUR” site.  WE are the custodians of what was created here and I am little more than the maintenance man.  If I do not return your email…send another one.  If I do not post something you really want posted…tell me again.  If I do something that hurts your feelings or upsets you…let me know.  I can promise you if I do, that was not my intent.  If you are expecting me to act as if any of it bothers me…you have a long wait ahead of you.   Call me anytime, if it goes to voicemail I am probably doing something else and I doubt you what to know anything about it.

I wish all of you a wonderful and safe weekend.  Thank you for all of your support.

  • Friday morning feel good stories.

    Friday morning feel good stories.

    From WILLIAMSTON, N.C.

A homeowner in Williamston shot a suspect who he saw in his driveway breaking into vehicles, deputies said.  The Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to 3256 Bailey Road in Williamston in reference to someone that had been shot.  Deputies arrived on the scene, secured the area and contacted investigators.

An investigation revealed that one of the homeowners was inside the residence and observed an individual breaking into the vehicles that were parked in the homeowner’s driveway.

The homeowner armed themselves with a handgun and went outside to confront the suspect.  Deputies said that during the confrontation, a single shot was fired by the homeowner, which struck the suspect.  The suspect was transported to Martin General Hospital by the Williamston Fire/Rescue Department and then airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for further medical treatment.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting deputies with the investigation.

The case is still under investigation.

From Prince George’s County, MD   Just a public service announcement,  If you come to bust down my door I don’t care what you are screaming in the process.  Two very lucky LEO’s in this case and the Judges who rubber stamp these warrants are never held accountable…ever.  That needs to change.

A police search warrant team going after a drug dealer targeted the wrong address and burst into the apartment of an innocent resident who shot and wounded two officers believing they were home invaders, Prince George’s law enforcement officials said.

Police Chief Hank Stawinski apologized for the error Thursday and said he has halted executing search warrants until the department reviews how it corroborates information to confirm addresses and the location of investigative targets.

As soon as officers entered the apartment, the man inside immediately surrendered when he realized police were on the other side of the door, Stawinski said.

The man yelled, “‘You’ve got the wrong address! Don’t shoot my daughter!’?” according to Stawinski.

No criminal charges will be filed against the resident, who fired at police with a shotgun, said Stawinski, adding that police “did not draw the right conclusion” about their target.

“We served the search warrant at the address that we identified through the investigation, however the investigation led us to the wrong address,” Stawinski said. “The individual that we are targeting does not live at that address .?.?. a law-abiding, hard-working citizen of Prince George’s County and his daughter were home at the point where we were executing that search warrant.”

The incident began about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday as police were on the third floor of a garden-style apartment in the 2700 block of Lorring Drive in Forestville. Nine officers from the Emergency Services Team, essentially a SWAT team, knocked on the door and announced that they were police, department spokeswoman Jennifer Donelan said.

Hearing no response from inside, police began using a device to pry open the door to the unit, Donelan said. The man inside fired a shotgun at the team “as soon as they were able to open that door,” Donelan said.

An officer fired back but didn’t strike anyone inside the apartment, Donelan said. Two officers were wounded, one in the shoulder and one in the hand.

The resident and his daughter had fallen asleep in front of the television and did not hear police announce themselves, Stawinski said. When the father awoke to a commotion, he believed home invaders were trying to break in, and instructed his daughter to run and hide, Stawinski said.

“That individual acted to protect himself and to protect his daughter from what he believed to be the threat of home invasion,” Stawinski said. “I am confident that he did not intentionally fire that weapon at police officers because they were police officers .?.?. this man was devastated when he realized he had fired upon police officers.”
