  • McCain Wins GOLD!

    gold_medal.jpg

Veteran Capitalist John McCain stunned the heavy international favorite Communist Barack Obama with a record-shattering performance winning the gold in the 2008 Olympic freestyle Bitch Slap.

After repeatedly claiming to challenge the elder McCain to a one on one “anywhere anytime”; it had been a mystery why the young Obama had resisted all efforts to arrange such a match. Last night answered that question as the crowd was stunned to watch the world class “tele-prompter” take a beat down like has never been seen.

McCain mercilessly hammered the young challenger at every turn but some were more memorable.

    On the simple question:

“At what point does a baby get human rights in your view?”

McCain fired confidently “Upon conception” then went on to show his pro-life stance and zero (0) rating from the abortion industry NARAL.

Obama answered the same question thusly:

“Well,*sigh* yo, I, I think that whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, uh, answering that question with specificity, uh, you know is, is, above my pay grade.”

Asked about his most gut-wrenching moment, Obama claimed that to be his “vote” against the Iraq War. While his opposition to the war is probably the single issue that pushed him past Hillary Clinton, he never “voted” against it!

McCain countered that pathetic and patently false jewel of pandering with a real story of “gut wrenching”; specifically, when he refused to be released early from a POW camp while his fellow prisoners would be left behind.

This was far from a gotcha style dialogue that Obama can expect in most townhall style forums which is exactly why his handlers have kept him far from that arena.

That repeated cackling you heard from coast to coast last night was Hillary “I told you so” express cranking up.

I wonder how most super-delegates viewed that performance from the chosen one?

Denver will surely be interesting and taking a beat-down like last night on national TV can’t make those super delegates very confident in the boy wonder.

  • Where are the IVAW Guys?

    82ndassoc.gif

My son is in St. Louis attending the 62nd annual 82nd Airborne Division National Convention. He is representing Jonn’s old outfit, the 1st Battalion, 325th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

I spoke with him today and the young studs and old veterans are having a great time.

I asked him if he had seen any IVAW or Code Pink protesters.

    I think he’s still laughing.

He’s probably right; that would not be a good place for hippies right now.

  • I Am Voting Democrat Because…

This is classic, go read it all and feel free to add your thoughts.
(We need more comments, we’re trying to get advertising after all)

I’m voting Democrat because: I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I’m voting Democrat because: I believe three or four pointy headed elitist liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.

I’m voting Democrat because: I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.

I’m voting Democrat because: I believe that paying $4.00 a gallon or more is no reason to drill for the mountain of oil we are sitting on in THIS country. We wouldn’t want to have to move a couple of Polar bears now would we?

I’m voting Democrat because: when we pull out of Iraq , I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing because they now think we’re good people

I’m voting Democrat because: I like it when planes fly into buildings full of civilians. I want to see more of that.

I’m voting Democrat because: I don’t want a stimulus check to spend. Let the government spend it for me.

I’m voting Democrat because: freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I’m voting Democrat because: I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’m going to marry my Brother.

I’m voting Democrat because: I don’t want to eat poison food and drink dirty water. We all know Republicans love that stuff. Ever wonder why the most left wing country in the World (China) is polluted?

I’m voting Democrat because: I believe that when the terrorists don’t have to hide from us over there; when they come over here I don’t want to have any guns in the house to fight them off with.

I’m voting Democrat because: I believe that churches should only be allowed for political speeches.

  • Heath Shuler for VP?

    shuler112695_1.jpg

This was written by a long time Democrat state senator in Virginia. He seriously seems to think that Heath Shuler would be a good VP choice for Obama.

    His reasoning is beyond ridiculous.

A top passer at the University of Tennessee and runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 1993, Shuler played several seasons for the Washington Redskins, thus also giving him name recognition in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. area.

Well, I won’t question his name recognition but I wouldn’t question General Sherman’s name recognition in Georgia either. While it is true that everybody in the Northern Virginia, DC area knows his name; the football fans among them universally loathe the man.

He was far from being the savior of the Washington Redskins. In 2004 ESPN rated him the 17th biggest sports flop of the past 25 years. In 2008, ESPN rated him the 9th biggest NFL draft bust of all time.

Salon.com reported that the “primary in West Virginia, a very rural state, was a blowout. Clinton won it by 41 percent, and she won all 55 counties. Similarly, in rural Ohio she beat Obama by 33 percent. In Pennsylvania, a much more metropolitan state, she won 56 of the state’s 63 counties, including Allegheny, Appalachia’s most populous county, where Pittsburgh is located. Her margins in the rural Appalachian counties of western Pennsylvania were West Virginia-size.

The reality is that Obama got throttled in these areas for two primary reasons. One, he is black. Two, he is not a woman. Heath Shuler does not change Obama’s pigment and that whole woman thing is still a big issue.

Obama is a Democrat because he is the most liberal senator in Washington. Shuler is a Democrat because it was the only way for him to get elected.

They are both, however, totally empty suits.

  • As the EU and NATO Fiddles…

The crisis in Georgia is growing and the west seems collectively paralyzed.

Just today the United Nations met for the third time in as many days and have accomplished absolutely nothing.

The London Times today reminds us of the last time Russia invaded Georgia in 1921. The president of Georgia appealed to the newly formed League of Nations. The League of Nations responded:

“it is realized that the League is incapable of rendering material aid and the moral influence which may be a powerful force with civilized countries is unlikely to make an impression upon Soviet Russia.”

The Germans and French who blocked Georgia’s attempts to join NATO in April will now be forced to find a diplomatic solution. And historically a European “compromise” will be little more than appeasement.

The question “Are we willing to start a war over a small piece of land with less than 75,000 people?” has already started.

In that case it might be worth while for the Georgian Government to consider whether they should exclude altogether the project, which has found favour in some quarters, of making Georgia a more homogeneous State by the secession of that fringe of alien populations who are contiguous to the nation with which they are united by race. In any case the wishes of the population concerned would seem to be a decisively important element in any solution that can hope to be regarded as permanent, and the advantages to Georgia of becoming a homogeneous State might conceivably outweigh the obvious disadvantages of losing the South Ossetia districts of the borderland.
    -[Source: The Times (London)]

Now go read that quote again. This time change Georgia to Czechoslovakia and South Ossetia to Sedeten German.

Oh, and change the source to:
-[Source: The Times (London), 7 September 1938]

I am not advocating launching an American offensive but it is of critical importance what Western Europe does.

Doing nothing might mean a brokered peace on the horizon but it would ultimately mean the Death of Georgia and it would abdicate almost all energy decisions that impact the EU to the Kremlin.

If a re-constituted Soviet Union under the leadership of an old school KGB leader and a small cadre of hand-picked followers is okay with you; then it’s all good.

  • This Can’t be Good News

    georgia02.jpg

    Did Russia just blow up?

BREAKING NEWS: Georgia cabinet minster says Georgian troops are in control of capital of South Ossetia, four Russian warplanes shot down; Russian military officials claiming 10 “peacekeepers” killed, 30 wounded in fighting.

This is not good for a couple of reasons.

First, the Georgian military claims to have occupied the area. Furthermore they claim to have shot down a couple of Russian combat aircraft. Civilians have been killed and both sides are blaming the other.

Georgia wants to join NATO and expects some help from the west. Putin can not and will not let this stand.

    Stay tuned.
