Afghan mother avenges son’s death; true body stacker

Rezagul1

Chief Tango sends us a link from Radio Free Europe which tells the story of Rezagul (she goes by one name like Cher) who lost her son in a firefight with the Taliban, so she took out her grief on the attackers, sending at least ten to Allah;

“I was so enraged that I took a gun and started firing at them, and I kept throwing hand grenades,” Rezagul told RFE/RL’s Radio Free Afghanistan. “I was hitting anyone who was coming at us. They were firing and firing at us, we were firing back.”

[…]

“It started around five in the morning. They were attacking with Kalashnikovs, hand grenades, and all kinds of different weapons,” Rezagul says. With two police officers in her family, the housewife was familiar with weapons, although she says she had never used them before.

Rezagul says her daughter, daughter-in-law, and youngest son also joined her in fending off the assault. “I was helping [policemen] to put bullets into their Kalashnikovs,” says Fatima, Rezagul’s daughter-in-law. “And I was also throwing hand grenades. I was wounded in my leg. My husband was martyred that day.”

[…]

Farah police chief Abdul Razzaq Yaqoobi corroborated Rezagul’s account and praised the family, “especially the brave Afghan women,” for their “exceptional courage and heroism.”

The Afghan government says that about 700 Taliban attacked the outpost and Rezgul’s home was leveled in the battle, but they’ve provided the family with a mud hut.

The Taliban has no comment, strangely. She needs to start training the ANA.

YES! Now THAT’S the way to do it!
Never, EVER piss off a mother. ANYONE’S mother! Or she’ll become just that, a MOTHER!

Good for her and her daughter-in-law!

Any snide remarks from you dorkwads – er, dinks, about women in combat?

    C’mon! I’ll be here all day. (Heeeehee! ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜› :P)

    1. Ex-PH2

Oh, I almost forgot: the Taliban got beat up by WOMEN!!!!!

    2. 10thMountainMan

She proved adequate to the task in a limited battle.

She could never make it in the infantry. Neither could you.

        Oh, good!

Are you worried, 10th Mtn, that a girl might take your place and win the brass ring in the joust?

While I would have to agree that at this point in MY life, as I am pushing 70, my success in such an endeavor might be limited, it certainly does not mean that with proper training and physical conditioning, women younger than me could not do the job.

But since you already have your mind made up….

        1. Well, getting to the sound of gunfire is half of the battle. Luckily for her the battle raged around her home, so she didn’t have to go far. I don’t think anyone here disputes the ability of women to wage war, unfortunately, just shooting a gun isn’t the only thing that they need to do.

            Make Sammiches?

            1. My grilled smoked gouda, gruyere, and prosciutto with homemade Guinness mustard is nothing to joke about.

Go ahead, make jokes. My spatula is still bigger than your spatula.

Sammiches? You want sammiches? I’ll fix you a sammich you’ll never forget! You’ll not only GET your sammich, but you’ll eat it, too, without questioning whatsinint, because just the scent of my grilled smoked minced ham, minced onions, and smoked shredded cheddar will be enough to make you lose your tiny mind, Chip. Never mind the fresh olive oil and cracked pepper chips on the side, with a tall, cold blond in a dark skirt next to the plate.

You *KNOW* I was poking Momma Bear with that one.

“with a tall, cold blond in a dark skirt next to the plate.”

I believe that without a doubt, you could give RLE a run for his money…

You win the internet … and Ex-PH’s wrath.

              1. Ex-PH2

                Nah, rgr1480.

ChipNASA would have to dig deep to piss me off.

Hell, even psulie-o the uncoolie-o can’t piss me off.

But I do enjoy a glass of Guinness myself, now and then. That, or Foster’s Lager.

          2. Ex-PH2

Not arguing that point, but my point is that proper conditioning will support any troop in getting to the battle zone.

            1. Hondo

Getting there? Perhaps. Being able to endure sustained ground combat conditions, like those in the ground combat arms units do for days/weeks at a time? Highly doubtful.

            2. Ex-PH2

Hondo, if you’re referring to personal hygiene and dirt under your fingernails, not to mention smelling like ass, I doubt the women will whine any more than the men do.

Loss of sleep happens to everybody in all walks of life. Lack of water has different effects on everybody. The tension of waiting for an attack affects everyone in different ways. Everyone has different levels of endurance.

        @10thMountainMan

Typical infantry mentality. You know that 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain had females on their PSD and MFTs in Logar right? They were putting some of the infantry guys to shame.

        Cheers, you small minded arse.

        1. Ex-PH2

Oh, let him have his opinion, SFC.

It gave me a challenge to fill next year, to start from nothing (where I am now) and see how far I can go.

        2. 10thMountainMan

Take it easy, cupcake. Your ignorance of a rifle unit’s METL and organization are glaring. Great, a soldier performed adequately driving the CSM around. Let’s see her perform in a patrol, approach, water party, boxing smoker, water crossing or any of the other million tough tasks that come down the line.

Like some of the others have tried to point out, infantry service is much much more than the shooting.

Btw, I’m a fister and not an 11B/C/H/M

          1. Ex-PH2

Oh, okay, so you didn’t read SFC Raikonnen’s post, then?

Or are you calling HIM cupcake, and not me?

            Just trying to understand here.

      3. Pinto Nag

I can’t for the life of me understand why this discussion devolved into the “women on a battlefield” bullshit. This woman and her daughter were defending their home — the battle came to THEM, like Jonn said. And who here wouldn’t expect their women to help in the case of a home invasion?

  3. 19D2OR4 – Smitty

Every time I think theres nothing worth saving in that hell hole of a country a story like this comes out. Now only if more Afghans would follow her model, we could finally leave that AOR.

  5. 2/17 Air Cav

The revenge angle doesn’t work. They were being attacked. And I hope that RFE does a follow-up in a month or two, now that their photos and location have been revealed in a story that the Taliwackers will find a tad disconcerting. You know, just to let is know how many, if any, members of that family are among the living.

  6. Veritas Omnia Vincit

Too bad her countrymen lack her resolve….they might actually have had a chance to build a nation.

I always like how these turds claim that Afghanistan is the death of empires….it isn’t, it’s just no worth building anything there.

If everyone there was dead most of the rest of the world would have no idea and there would be zero effect on the rest of humanity. No one would starve because Afghanistan was de-populated…they have the same effect on the world as the Kawahiva.

    1. Enigma4you

you said what I was thinking

    2. Ex-PH2

      Exactly.

    3. GDContractor

I don’t know that they lack the resolve. For every one of them like this one, there are ten more embroidering their son’s suicide vest, etc. Until they put Motherhood ahead of Martyrdom I’m going to withhold my jubilation. This mom just aimed her resolve in a direction we agree with.

Well, the price of narcotics would go up with that many opium growers wiped out, so Hollywierd would shit bricks over it, but otherwise you’re right.

  7. Sapper3307

A few Divisions of troops like her the ANA would kick some serious ass.

  8. Good.

Have heard similar stories from other troopers who were there.

When youโ€™re wounded and left on Afghanistanโ€™s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
Anโ€™ go to your Gawd like a soldier
