Pakistan to deploy ADA to it’s borders

You pretty much know that they’re not moving their air defense assets to their borders to defend against the greatest threat to that nation – al Qaeda and the Taliban; (AP/Stars & Stripes link)

The possibility of Pakistan deploying air defense weapons to the border shows just how much distrust exists between the country and U.S.-led forces fighting in Afghanistan, even though Islamabad has received billions of dollars in American aid over the last decade.

The NATO airstrikes against two army posts on the Afghan border before dawn on Nov. 26 added to anger that Pakistan still felt over the covert U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden in a Pakistani garrison town in May.

If they were as committed to defending against the terrorists in their country as they are to making shows of force in regards to their supposed allies, the Pakistanis would have won the war against terrorism in their country long ago.

And they really need to let go of the bin Laden operation. They’re the only people on the face of the erth who are angry about the outcome of that mission and it makes them look like al Qaeda supporters.

  1. Actually, UpNorth, we created AQ to fight the Ruskies. But, that is beyond the point. Every troopie on the ground knows that Pakistan is only a friend in the halls of the UN, otherwise they are just as bad as the insurgents.

  2. @3 No ISI did create the Mujahadeen, but we supported them with weapons and equipment. Then dedicated a Rambo film to them.

  3. Imagine that. Bet the Russians are coordinating between the Iranians and Pakistanis to keep the US from flying, driving, or railing our people and stuff out.

  4. 3# We did not create Al Qaeda, in fact the foreign Arabs went out of their way to avoid any contact with the US. The CIA after 9/11, scoured their archives looking for any possible direct role with their creation and found none. We had no contact with them period. Their funding came from wealthy Arabs citizens(like Bid laden), “charities”(Jihad collections), and Gulf States, not America. We directly funded the Afghan factions and Pakistan, not other foreign entities.
