WGRD’s Producer Joe confronts Rudy the phony vet panhandler

Rudy

A couple of days ago, the folks at WGRD’s Free Beer and Hot Wings show interviewed a panhandler they found by the name of Rudy who falsely claimed that he is a veteran to increase his income. So yesterday, they sent out one of their producers to stand next to him with a sign that read LIAR—>. I guess Rudy didn’t like that. I can’t embed the video, so you’ll have to click over and see the hilarious results. Even the cops join in.

Thanks to Chip for the link.

That’s my hometown. Ever since the ACLU sued the city and overturned the panhandling laws, I can’t believe the number of “veterans” there are that need help. /sarc

Would love to see every TV Station in the country do an expose like this on the homeless lying about being veterans… I wonder ow many Millions of dollars these shit bags take from well meaning members of the public. The money they intend to help out veterans ends up going to the nearest liquor store or meth dealer.

    @10

You should go work as a volunteer at a “Stand Down” event sometime.

The one time I did was enough. I worked helping folks do records request and verifying records (so they could apply for VA benefits at the station next to mine)

I estimate that at least 8 out of 10 of the “homeless Vets” at the event were phonies.

Of course this was after they had some new clothes, a shower, medical checks, new glasses and a full belly.

These f–kin’ jacked-up phony vet panhandlers/beggars just pisses the hell out of me. My experiences with these scumbag losers have not been the most pleasant…

    @14.

I did one of those this year. Volunteered.

Fuck that. I will never do another one.

    Phonies and disorganization.

  18. The route leading up to Lucas Oil Statium has no many homeless “vets” they could fill a battalion.

  19. streetsweeper

Green Thumb, were you working the “homeless vets” that hang at I-5 & 5th or is it 6th Street exits? lol

  20. I used to get suckered by these guys and forked over some cash. Now I know to ask questions first, and if they seem legit I’ll give them a ride to the local Veteran Service Officer for help. Amazing how many turn out to be fakes, who only want cash and nothing else.

I laughed so hard I almost peed myself.

Funny video, cops were clearly listening to the show and wanted a piece, and in the end … A GREAT END!

BTW: They are all over NYC metro city and I don’t give not a one anything!

  25. Hondo

I hope the guys send Rudy a nice thank you card for helping them raise money to help LEGITIMATE vets. (smile)

Too funny. A decade or so ago, panhandlers came to my medium size town, like Rudy, they staked out various busy corners. They lasted less than a week. Loitering laws were enforced, the real homeless people were sent to the homeless shelter, the fakes were told to stop or go to jail. Some did go to jail and the others decided to prey on other towns or , ya know, actually get a job. It’s nice to be panhandler free.

We have the ones that hang out in front of the Wal-Mart and beg for cash. Every time I tell them “I’ll get you a sandwhich and a drink if you want,” and their response is pretty much “I’d rather have the money” every time.

So yea they dont get shit.

  28. O-4E

Rudy needs a good real estate lawyer to protect his turf….

    Anyone have any suggestions?

  29. Slause

Duh, WINNING!!! This is classic, maybe we should implement this nationwide, I wonder how much quicker we could help the homeless veteran population this way instead of waiting for the govt. to actually do their job on the issue!

  30. Twist

I tell the ones that have signs that say “will work for food” that I will buy them dinner if they mow my yard. Not one time has one taken me up on the offer. I’m all for helping out the needy, but I refuse to get fleeced.

  31. LostOnThemInterwebs

OMG I’ve had a horrible day .. but this made it all better I’m laughing so hard .. LOL!!! ty so much for it!

  32. FatCircles0311

$10 says he’s not even homeless.

  33. UpNorth

@32. There’s a “homeless” camp about 1/2 mile north of this corner. Nice view of the river, some pretty impressive shacks that have been built, and a population that averages about 15 people.
The corner shown in this video is one of the busiest for the “homeless” to panhandle. On occasion there have been some pretty good fights over who gets to stand where.

  34. After we had a few folks standing in the median/left turn waiting lanes of a couple of busy highways/routes in our town, the City Council decided enough was enough and passed an “agressive panhandling” ordinance.

Funny how they all seem to just want the cash. I used to get hit up with the “I need $5 for gas” bit a lot, but they never seemed to take me up when I told them I’d meet them over at the gas station with my gas can.

  35. Ex-PH2

FOCLMAO! Now THAT was funny!!!! Made my day!

  36. Nik

I’m gonna have to get a sign. I live downtown. A block from my house is a common spot for panhandlers.
