Just for Ex-PH2 and all you recipe collectors, a good energy breakfast for you:

    1 c water
    1/2 tsp salt
    4 rounded tsp grits
    1/4 c diced ham
1/4 c grated sharp cheddar cheese

Put water, salt, and ham in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
While stirring, add grits, reduce heat to simmer.
    Cook 1 minute, uncovered.
Turn off heat, cover for 2 minutes.
Stir and put in two bowls.
    Cover with grated cheese.

    Serves two.

  13. Stolen Valorist, Kyle Christopher Barwan, aka “Stretched”, the felonious, phony is not only still in the County Jail, another Victim contacted me a few days ago and I suggested she take her story to the Deputy/Detective that is handling the case. She did and he now has 2 more counts against him. Here in Florida we have a “3 strikes and you are out” law. Having 2 prior felonies, he may qualify for the Supersized, “Habitual Offender” status, and get 10 more years added to the sentence at his upcoming trial. That is 10 hard years, no time off for good behavior, no “time served”, and must not run concurrent with other time.

Don’t be forgetting about Julio and Mr. “Tiny”… many inmates NEVER forget Julio and Mr. “Tiny”!

        1. Hondo

Good chance after “enjoying” the company of those “fine gentlemen”, Barwan may well end up with a very apropos nickname:

          Tornholio.

    3. Wilted Willy

Great job Frankie! I think they call that pilling on? I hope you can get a few more felonies put on this shitbag and they keep him locked up for the rest of his life. What have they set his bond for? I hope it is at least as much as the money he has scammed out of his victims! BZ Frankie!!

    4. 26Limabeans

That nose. I’ll bet he gets pissed every time someone asks about it.

    5. SFC D

You da man, Frankie! I wanna be like you when I grow up!

    6. Graybeard

Good job, Frankie Cee. Glad to see Kyle Christopher Barwan getting his just desserts.

      1. HMC Ret

You da man, Frankie. Get some. Puss needs another beat down to straighten his nose.

The white dog a specific breed or are both Heinz 57?

        1. The White girl is a Great Pyrenees Dog. The oldest breed of Livestock Guardian Dogs, and the breed that does more guardian work than any other. They are most often seen guarding goats or sheep. They don’t herd, and we don’t train them to guard. They have the instinct, and are an “Autonomous Thinking Dog. Once in place they guard anything against any thing that comes at them.

    7. Some of you may remember the Florida law that prevented doctors from asking patients about firearms they owned.

Medical groups sued and in 2014 and 2015, a 3 judge panel upheld the law.

The full Eleventh Circuit has now overturned most of the law saying it is a violation of the First Amendment.

  14. Thanks Jonn, for using my photo. My troop support effort is the best calling that I have had, (outside family, that is), and gives me as much pleasure as the troops I am supporting. I posted at my blog on this earlier today:

Nice gig you got there. And dogs.

I agree, seek out a local base support group or similar program and interact with
the role they play in the community.

I have played a small part related to my prior service for many years and it is both
      rewarding and fun.

    2. Skyjumper

Thanks for all you do for the troops & their families, Frankie.

You must have one hellova an extended family!
      Good on you!

      1. Thanks Skyjumper. As I leave the Ranger Camp each time, I wonder if I gave as much as I got. Yes, this is an “extended family”. I have felt the “family love”, from them on more than one occasion, and know that it was all “from the heart”. While I was not a Ranger, I was 101st Airborne, (jump status era), and know what it takes to be a tabbed Ranger. These Ranger Instructors are the best of the best, and of the “Been there Done that” variety. They and their families are my choice of friends. To be able to offer some moral support, to be able to share my dogs with them, and to be able to stand among them means much to me.

    Knaeckebrot and Pickled Herring

    Ingredients:

    – Large package of authentic multi-grain Knaeckebrot (a.k.a. Scandinavian ‘crispbread’)

    – Large jar of pickled herring in wine sauce

    – Large jar of pickled herring in cream sauce

    – Case of good imported ice-cold Lager beer

    Method:

Get your buddies together to watch ice hockey, rugby, an old war movie, etc., on TV. Put the herring on the Knaeckebrot and chow down, while washing it all down with the beer.

    Serves 4-6.

    Enjoy.

    1. AW1Ed

My Dad enjoyed pickled herring in cream sauce, on a Ritz cracker if I recall correctly. With a large vodka martini. Or two.

      It’s an acquired taste.

      I never acquired it.

      Here kitty kitty…

Been much too long since I have been able to partake in that.

Ritz is a good stand-in as well

    3. Heidi

With all due respect Mick, herring only goes on rugbrød, not knækbrød, and you serve it with icecold snaps.

wow. so the “Docs asking about guns” is not just dumb politics, but actual litigation bait? Wow.

A relative taught me the phrase “out of my scope of practice” and just how incredibly bad it is for a medical professional to fail to “stay in their lane” as we might say.

Like “lose your license” bad. Like “get sued for your last shirt” bad, like “go to -jail- and treat cons for chump change” bad.

“Doc, are firearms in your scope of practice? What is that medical specialty called?” Proctologist, I suspect, as the whole thing is one huge ass-pull of a political idea.

Love hippies who think replacing 800 MW with a few 400 KW hydro plants is a good idea.

I love idiots who sign my paychecks.

    1. A Proud Infidel®™

I thought that proglodyte tree-hugging hippie and hipster types were all against hydro dams in the name of fish migration and shit like that? Speaking of tree-hugging enviro-Nazis, has anyone been following news about the clean up of the hippie camps from the DARPA protests? They’re in a hurry to do so because they say it is an existing environmental disaster waiting to happen. Trash, abandoned vehicles as well as abandoned generators and masses of raw sewage were left behind on Missouri River flood plains waiting to be swept away by foods from the spring thaw AND the trucks transporting said waste have to take a roundabout route thanks to a bridge the tree-huggers wrecked. Since when aren’t liberal do-gooders a detrimental pain in the ass? I wonder what groups like Greenpiss and The Sierra Club will say about the mess their ilk left? I bet on nothing.

If Don Shipley needed help, he could make a single phone call and have 100 men standing at his side within hours, with who knows how many others showing up the next day or two. The poster of that video? He would have only 911 if he needed help, and there’s no guarantee they would respond if he identified himself during the call.

Even though I’m White Name Tape era Army (like Poet), I’m confused. Was just in an RV park in Savannah and shopped at Hunter Army Air Field.

There is the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and the 3rd Infantry Division. I guess I knew this all along but now I’m wondering the lineage, if any?

    1. Perry Gaskill

I got curious, did some search fu on this, and it turns out to be an interesting topic. Hunter Army Airfield is home to the aviation brigade of the Third Infantry Division (3ID). The main part of the division is based at Fort Stewart which is about 40 miles away. The division was created in 1917, and took part in World War I including the Battle of Chateau Thierry.

The 3ID has almost no connection to the Third Infantry Regiment (3rd Infantry) which was created in 1784, and has mostly been concerned with the defense of Washington D.C. and ceremonial duties there.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me part of the confusion with Army unit names is that things shifted about the time the 3ID was created. Prior to that time, the standard building block of units was a regiment typically formed from a specific geographic region. The British have followed that pattern including with the formation of the Coldstream Guards in 1650 and continuing to this day. The American Army once followed a similar convention which is why Civil War units had names such as the 2nd Alabama or 20th Maine. There were larger unit sizes such as divisions and corps during the Civil War, but they tended to go by the commander’s name. Sherman’s Division at Shiloh, for example, or Longstreet’s Corps at Gettysburg.

When World War I happened, there was a shift from regiment to division as a basic organizational building block, with the divisions also becoming numbered. This is a guess, but the main reason may have been because American units were placed under the overall operational control of the French who wanted it that way. Originally, the French wanted American troops to be folded into existing French units as replacements, but were turned down.

      1. sj

        Good read Perry! Thanks

Well, the lamestream media is at it again, spreading the baloney as thick as they can. This time, it’s a call by the White houes to use the National Guard to round up immigrants, which – says the White House – is categorically NOT TRUE.

    http://www.usnews.com/news/top-news/articles/2017-02-17/trump-may-deploy-national-guard-to-round-up-unauthorized-immigrants-ap

It was reported as ‘may happen’ on the local evening news tonight. I don’t know what it takes to get them to stop saying these things, but geezo-pete, even the weather man made the wrong forecast for this week and last week, and is astonished at the amount of rain/snow hitting California – as if he just landed from another planet.
