Trump orders an end to Syria mission

According to Fox News, the White House has issued instructions for the withdrawal of US troops from Syria;

According to a Washington Post report, Trump said that while U.S. troops can still be involved in training local forces to ensure security in liberated areas, he expects other nations – particularly the oil-rich Arab states – to help pay for the reconstruction of Syria and send in their own troops.

“As far as Syria is concerned, our primary mission in terms of that was getting rid of ISIS,” Trump said on Tuesday during a news conference with leaders from the Baltic nations. “We’ve completed that task and we’ll be making a decision very quickly, in coordination with others in the area, as to what we will do.”

The mission is “very costly for our country and it helps other countries a helluva lot more than it helps us,” Trump said.

Well, at least he didn’t give ISIS a timetable scheduled withdrawal like his predecessor did in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Slip an invoice under the door on the way out.

Payable before any further services are rendered, with the possible exception of large quantities of high explosives if the welfare of the USA requires such.

Add a 15% tip for the waitresses, willya?

      1. HMC Ret

PH: I typically give 15% for even mediocre service. I believe the quality of our service rendered rises to the 20% level. Unfortunately, I base that number on the body count of us troops, who died trying to ‘improve’ those horseshit countries. In a perfect world, we wouldn’t have one troop anywhere in the world, assisting assholes who hate us.

About time we had a POTUS that tells other Nations to wipe their own asses and not perpetually expect us to bail them out.

I sense a strategic redeployment to Texas, NM, Arizona and Kaleefornya in the wind…

Please, yes please put troops on the border. I mean, Mexico has troops in its southern border and they shoot to kill. At eh same time they house and herd ass holes from Central America northward to shit on us.

      1. Just An Old Dog

Mex-shitco is not the ones helping them, although I am pretty sure that they like the idea of having “victims” of US immigration Policy being caught and turned away at the border causing an outcry.
The Group is being supported by illegal immigration advocates.
For every one person in that publicized group there are probably 200 more making their way up through Mexico.
They are beaten, raped, robbed and even murdered by Mexican Criminals, Police and Military constantly.

On exit make sure the local trouble-makers have good reason to say “Let’s never -ever- give them a reason to come back angry.”

I like this idea, a lot.

Infrastructure gets costly if it gets bombed out regularly as a reminder to behave as a responsible member of the international community.

    But the Kurds…….THE KURDS!!!!

ugh, we have no business in Syria. We need to stop trying to pick the moderate muslims because it never works out for us.

      Hey…I like (the) Kurds.

Our best friends in the region, hands down.

And I like Jordanians. And I like Israelis(labor not management).

When was the last time you looked at/saw/visited Kurdistan? They’re doing some impressive stuff in their homeland.

But I ‘get’ your comment (I think), and don’t disagree with your reasoning. 🙂

Big sea change in Saudi Arabia, too, with Mohammed bin Salman, the reformist crown prince. Seems he doesn’t much like ISIS, al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, Yemen’s Houthi rebels, and the entire clerical and military leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran. I think we can work with this guy, even if he is allowing women to drive cars. Other than that…

Hopefully, he won’t go the way of Anwar Sadat.

The Saudis are terrified of ISIS, for good reason.

3 competent ISIS cells in Saudi get lucky and the Saudis are on the way to a civil war.

          1. FatCircles0311

The Saudis created and funded ISIS, so I’m sure they are.

Was driving around Kurdistan in 2004-5, and the difference between Zakho,Erbil or Dohuk and Mosul was night and day. The first three had construction going on all over the place, were relatively clean and resembled cities. The last one looked like someone had dumped a big ass dumpster all over the place. Never had a problem with the Kurds.

        1. Blaster

I was in the same places around the same times. Walked down the streets in Dohuk and Zakho without a worry. Was invited in for tea at almost every door. The Kurds were/are great people and great fighters too.

Once again throwing our only real allies in the region to the wolves to be slaughtered.

    1. Blaster

      The Syrians are our allies???

      Who knew?

Did that happen after the world apology tour, but before creating ISIS?

  8. m0311

Bush created ISIS by stupidly going into Iraq when it wasn’t a terrorist threat. Iraq didn’t support Al Quaeda. ISIS existed because the USA was in Iraq occupying the nation for no good reason whatsoever. It’s not fiscally conservative to spend 3 Trillion dollars on the Iraq War. The Iraq War was a very liberal spending policy, AKA “corporate welfare”.

The invasion of Iraq was the “greatest strategic disaster in United States history,”

But Bush supporters will not be confused by facts…

–None so blind as those who will not see….

    1. FatCircles0311

It’s easy to sit there and after the fact claim Iraq was a bad war. Reality is Bush Sr fucked up and passed the buck by not ending saddam leaving a future president to do so. Saddam was an issue that needed to be dealt with. ISIS was a Saudi and Sunni response to failed Shiite Arab spring take over of Bahrain. It had nothing to due with Bush Jr.

Hind sight is 20/20 and the big mistake the of America was thinking Muslims wanted liberation when in reality they just want perpetual warfare with Muslims and non Muslims. Also Iraqis are deeply bread in with cowardice.

    2. Blaster

I seem to remember ISIS starting AFTER the US pullout of Iraq and originating in Syria as a fanatical Islamic group fighting against Assad after Obama pushed for his removal. But hey, I’m just a guy that watches the news devoutly because it helps me prepare for where I’m going next.

BTW, I deployed as many times under Obama as I did under Bush jr.

      1. Yef

        Ever heard of ISI?
Islamic State of Iraq, in control of the Diyala river valley in 2007, until I got there and kicked them out.

        1. Blaster

Yep, but I was talking about ISIS that began in Syria during the time Obama was trying to move Assad out

        2. 26Limabeans

Did you get any help from Signal guys?

Damn, bro, shove a few more talking points and a couple of dank memes in there, and you’ll, well, still sound like a parrot. No analytical skills, but you squawk and repeat shit just fine.
