A deadly psychological thriller that follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship. Directed by Doug Liman, “The Wall” stars Aaron Taylor Johnson and WWE star John Cena, and is written by first-time screenwriter Dwain Worrell from his Black List script. “The Wall” is produced by Amazon Studios.

And why are you walking around out in the open? The plot/suspense seems engaging, but the initial premise leaves a bit to be desired. I’ll get over it, but just sayin’…

Just one question: when did THEY start using snipers? Or am I being too picky about this?
We dealt with snipers on two of my three Iraq deployments. Mostly they were not in the traditional sense of ours taking long-range shots but in that they fired single aimed shots from concealed positions and then left. For example, one technique was to break out a car tail light and the sniper would hide in the trunk. Car pulls up, sniper aims at the truck commander’s door of a parked HMMWV and waits for them to return to mount up. Many people got in the habit of having their truck move to them before getting back in. This forced the sniper to reposition. In Ramadi back in 2007, one of the units recovered a Marine’s sniper rifle that had been lost to the terrorists in the city and, as I recall, was being used by them.

I dealt with them about twice a month in late ’03. They would pop an IED so we’d stop and take a few aimed shots at range before leaving. They didn’t get any of my guys but they were pretty disruptive until I started us moving late at night and contact dropped.

John Cena is the real deal in supporting our troops. When the first batch of entertainers headed into the sandbox for our troops, The WWE was first in and Cena was in the front.
