The Latest on “Flem”

Well, we have a bit of news on Flemron E. Dickey, candidate for Congress in Mississippi. So stand by for today’s “Flem update”.

Yesterday, reports surfaced that Dickey had been arrested for felony bad checks in Desoto County, Mississippi in 2012. While that report was true, it turns out Dickey apparently never faced felony charges in that case (though the precise disposition isn’t clear).

However, it does appear that there is some question about the BS degree he claims from Grand Canyon University. Apparently Dickey did in fact attend GCU.  However, the university apparently has no record of him as a graduate.

Last time I checked, college degrees weren’t normally issued to those who didn’t graduate. Wassup with that, “Flem”?

Apparently “BS degree” is indeed apropos.

Let’s see . . . what have we seen from Dickey so far?

  • Claim: “Dickey became a member of the elite special forces” (Source:  2006 Newsweek article, formerly quoted in full on Dickey’s campaign web site – since removed, but archived before it disappeared.)
Fact: not unless you count working as a non-SF-qual guy in a mess hall at Fort Bragg while assigned to a SF group as the same as being a “Green Beret”
  • Claim: “fought in the first Persian Gulf war” (Source:  same Newsweek article.)
Fact: not unless the AOR for Desert Storm included Korea and “fighting” includes bar fights downtown “in the ‘ville”.  Dickey’s records show he was in Korea from October 1990 to November 1991.  Desert Storm was 17 Jan – 28 Feb 1991 – in Kuwait and Iraq, which is about 4400 miles away from Korea.
  • Claim: “Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ B.S., Emergency Management” (Source:  educational claim on former campaign website, also archived.)
Fact: GCU says he attended, but a representative of GCU says that the college has no record of him as being a graduate.

Sheesh. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s anything about this guy that isn’t questionable. At this point, if Dickey told me it was daytime I’d look at my watch to check the time – then look out the window to make sure the sun was shining.

    What’s next?

    1. GDContractor

He can go contracting. With his fake credentials, they’ll make him a manager. He’ll hide out in his hooch all day watching movies and sucking easy cheese, hoping they don’t promote him. He’ll fit right in.

He keeps himself from telling even more lies by stuffing his face full of Krispie Kreme Donuts.

He was twice awarded Soldier Of The Quarter…..Pounder.

He is so fat, his favorite war film is Pork Chop Hill.

He practices safe snacks; he always use a condiment.

While on active duty, he was not on weight control. He was on weight out of control.

He’s been regarded as “Most Dangerous” by at least two dozen all-you-can-eat Buffet Restaurants!!

I call BS on his BS BS (I’ve always wanted to say that…)…

    1. Hondo

Yep. In this case, “BS degree” does appear quite apropos.

  7. Green Thumb

“The Democrat’s campaign focus has shifted in recent days from support for liberal issues to defending more claims.”

Someone ought to send this to John Walsh D-MT.

    1. USMCE8Ret

GT? Don’t they use the same play book? If that’s the case, Walsh is doing what every other Dem has been doing.

  8. Isnala

May be out side our lane and while I’m sure that his opponent in the race already knows about this. Is there a good way to tip them off just to be sure?

    1. tm

It might be something where they’re letting Flem drown in his own BS.

  9. PSUAJ

I got my BS at Bovine University and was thinking of a masters at Grand Canyon University, but instead I think I may go for my MD at Dr. Nick’s Upstairs Medical College.

So I guess what I’m saying is Grand Canyon College is really a thing, huh?

    **Checks Wikipedia**

    40,000 enrolled?!? Wow.

    1. Green Thumb

I bet Dickey Flem here has attended the Burger College.

      1. tm

Flemy Dick couldn’t hack it at In-n-Out Burger University.

    Hum,
What is that cute little saying I hear from time to time..
Oh I remember, Often times stolen Valor is just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s hard to believe that people start digging in a pile of shit and are surprised to find more shit underneath.

With Dickey’s Quals a expect him to be the Dem choice for VP or at the very least Secretary of State.

Who wants to bet on the race and PTSD card being played tomorrow.

    1. Hack Stone

Maybe he will play the STD card. Do you think he will go with syphilis or gonorrhea?

    2. YankeeJim

Maybe race but I think Walsh has scared all politicians of claiming ptsd.

  11. FatCircles0311

He’s going to claim illegal alien status next and everything will be forgiven and given a housing allowance a long with a small business loan.

  12. A Proud Infidel®™

His BS Degree ain’t shit compared to my BS-PhD in Evil Medical Science. I didn’t pretend to spend eight years in imaginary Evil Medical School for nothing, and it’s DOCTOR EVIL INFIDEL to you, fatstuff McPhlegm-Dick!!

  13. Bobo

I don’t know what the problem is. With his ability to stretch the truth for his own benefit, he ought to fit right in with the rest of the politicians.

  14. Farflung Wanderer

Ah, yes… Wittgenfeld Syndrome. Where one claims to be part of a unit because at one point he was attached to said unit, but was never qualified for said unit.

    What an asshat.

  15. Joe Williams

AQ short topic derail. My Grandson completed Ranger school and is assigned to a Ranger company as a medic. Does this mean Lance is tabbed and scrolled and also a combat medic ? Thank you joe

  16. rgr1480

Lance sounds like he’s tabbed, scrolled, and a medic. He might have the Expert Field Medic Badge. If he has served under fire as an army medic, then he probably has a Combat Medic Badge.

Lance would only be a “Combat Medic” if he has that last badge.

Ranger Medics attend the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program either through the Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP) or the Ranger Orientation Program (ROP) depending on their rank level. SGT and below attend RIP and SGT(P) and above attend ROP.

Upon completion of RIP, a skill level 1 medic attends the Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) course at the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center (JSOMTC) at Fort Bragg, NC. Incoming NCO Medics attend RIP or ROP, then Pre-Ranger, Ranger School and then the SOCM course. No medic is assigned to the Regiment without completing the SOCM course. SOCM is a 6-month course taught at Paramedic level with a heavy focus on trauma and military medicine. SOCM is the first half of the 18D SFMS course and is required for all medics assigned to USASOC units. Currently, SOCM graduates are certified as a USSOCOM State Advanced Tactical Practitioner (ATP). There are initiatives in the works to change the certification back to NREMT-Paramedic and/or a State certified Paramedic. Regardless, SOCM medics are trained at and above the DOT Paramedic standard. Ranger Medics owe the Regiment 2 years after SOCM graduation (unless otherwise decided by the Regt – i.e. the good old RFS).

Ranger Medics are Rangers just like every other Ranger and undergo all of the training inherent to the mission of Ranger units. Medics are organic to Ranger companies and platoons and go with and do everything that the platoon does (training and combat). The Ranger Medic is on virtually every mission a Ranger unit undertakes as an assault force asset until he needs to perform his duties as a medic. Medics attend Ranger school just like everybody else based off of order of merit in the unit. Most medics have the opportunity to attend Ranger school within their first 12 months in the unit (just like everybody else). If a medic does not go to Ranger school in those first 12 months, then it is probably because of himself not being ready to go physically and mentally.

HOOAH to your grandson!!! Sounds like a remarkable lad.
