I don’t know if it’s related to education level, Senior Chief. I have enough post-grad hours to get an MFA, if I want to sit through 3 semesters of (gag!) art history, and I don’t. But I think I have a good quotient of common sense.
It may have more to do with real-world, real-time experience and not having an inflated-hollow ego. Inflated and enormous, but contains nothing but hot air, therefore it’s hollow.
Ex-PH2 nailed it on the head, with real-world and real time experience being related to common sense as opposed to education. I’ve started working on my doctorate degree, not the Dennis (Denny) Howard Chevalier kind, the real deal, and I have a good amount of common sense.
Oh yeah, I support the second amendment, understand the importance of the right to bear arms, etc… to address that nitwit that tries to associate the amount of opposition to the second amendment to the amount of education.
Yup, if he’d just shut the hell up (as many have advised him to, to no avail), several good folks would not have been lavished with Bernath Bucks; Bernath’s own Google footprint would be much, much smaller; and I’m speculating, but he’d probably still be eligible to practice law.
Some low/average intelligence individuals test well, retain info well and can regurgitate well hence the passing of standardized tests. Means nothing in real life, like savants and those that make money by the bucketful and can’t tie their shoes.
I’m sure there’s a photoshop expert out there that do some real artwork involving that wide open jaw of Danny boy.

That just happens to be the motto of the company I work for. In case you don’t know, I work for a “proud women owned” third party software vendor in Montgomery County MD.
Les I forget, whiskey is the American spelling. Whisky is the Irish spelling. I think the Scots don’t care, they just drink it up.
Problem is, lass, the Irish do care. And they still remember who came to settle in much of Northern Ireland – and how the term “Scotch-Irish” originated.
I have two lines of ancestors who became “Ulster Scots” because they fought England and had to flee to Northern Ireland because of the English. Though, they also hooked up with Brits and Irish and had kids.
It is amazing how much technology has improved to show ancestral lines these days.
Your Scottish ancestors may well be unusual in that respect. Most moved to Ireland during the Plantation of Ireland, beginning in the early 1600s. My understanding is that those immigrants weren’t exactly welcomed by the Irish.
The Reevers were forced to go over to a very desolate place in what is now Northern Ireland. The Irish didn’t want it until the Scots had made something of it.
It is a wee bit more complicated than that, of course, but that’s the Cliff’s Notes version.
That’s one version, OWB – but history doesn’t exactly support that from 1586 forward.
From 1586 onward, British/Scottish settlement in Ireland was essentially a deliberate, politically-driven attempt to change the politics (and, later, the demographics) of Ireland. It did so via resettling Protestant English and Scottish subjects on lands confiscated from rebellious Irish nobility, primarily in Munster and Ulster. The latter settlement campaign (the Plantation of Ulster) also had the effect of creating areas of Protestant majority in Northern Ireland in areas that were formerly overwhelmingly Catholic.
As one might guess, this was rather resented by the native Irish. I understand it still is to this day – it’s the underlying cause for the recent troubles in Northern Ireland since approx 1970.
Understood, and have heard it all, from family and friends who still reside there, on both sides of the religious fence. They get along just fine and have for centuries. They view terrorists as the common enemy. And yes, back in the day, the IRA was training in the middle east with the PLO.

I’ve heard rumor that the fungus-faced Fred Phelps clone is still calling himself a lawyer in Florida. Hmmmm, what level of felony is that? Being an unlicensed Contractor in that State is a serious felony, what level is unlicensed practice of law there? I saw an ad on Avvo with that name claiming Social Security as the practice area.

Well, he appears to have been unable to work *competently* for a very long time. I wonder when he was last able to actually earn any money practicing law?

Avvo is not a proper indicator of “holding yourself out as an attorney” because Avvo sets it up whether you like it or not. I can’t figure out how to have them take mine down.
However, putting “Esq.” or “Attorney” after your name with a Florida address is another issue altogether. It is a felony to engage in the unauthorized practice of law in Florida. After he is disbarred in Florida, it is likely that California authorities will forward their findings to the State of Florida if Mr. Bernath has put such indicators after his name with a Florida address in any of his correspondence. We just have to wait for this to play out.
Oops – should say after he is disbarred in California – he was never a member of the Florida bar.
