Joe Cocker passed today at 70 years old. He wasn’t a veteran or anything, but “You Are So Beautiful” convinced a lot of girls to be bad during my days as a young soldier.
He also convinced me that I should leave the bathroom window unlocked;
Joe had a unique stage presence that was parodied by Jim John Belushi;

Just missed him at Woodstock in ’69. Now I just miss him.
Not to be one of those douchey internet know-it-all types, but that is the late John Belushi onstage there with Joe.

Sure miss it, especially when they issued me a M-16 in VN without knowing a damn thing about it.

I always regretted missing Sunday (Hendrix, etc), but my biggest regret was tearing up my (expletive) tickets as a show of ??? Dunno what they might be worth now?

And I didn’t know who Joe Cocker was in those days … I just thought Belushi was making it all up. Wondered why it was so funny.
After I saw Joe Cocker, then I understood.
We got the news while I was getting a Joe Strummer tattoo, another great musician and singer.
Sad day for Joes…
He was like Dylan. Neither had a good voice but both made a fortune singing. Go figure.

It was how he did it. His voice sounded like a cement mixer with a hangover, but that song turned me on.
Saw him do a small show in Vegas a few years back. RIP.

I somewhat liked Joe Cocker . . . until I saw video of him performing once.
I found his performance quite disturbing – like watching someone with Huntington’s chorea. Could never listen to him again afterwards.
He was a headliner at the Army’s only official “Rock Festival” May 1975, Ft. Campbell.

Of rock n roll. He did his own thing.. His way. Now he’s remembered as a legend to many. RIP Joe Cocker. Lung cancer is a helluva way to die, hope your at peace now.
