Someone sent us their work on this young lady, Kate Garneau who is claiming to be an active duty sailor in the US Navy;
I think she’s claiming to be SeaBee;
But the Navy says that it’s not true;
She spent two months and five days on active duty last year and then they put her back on the street.

I’d be pissed if I went almost all the w3ay to the end (Say maybe she made it 6 weeks) and then they take 2 1/2 weeks to paperwork my ass out.

When I was in Engineer OSUT we had one that got booted one week before graduation and our DS’s told us of one in the cycle before us that there was one booted just three days before graduation.
Oh yea, I saw the same thing happen at Leonard Wood in 81.
Guy got his discharge the week we were preparing for graduation.
He was constantly screwing up to that point so he could get discharged, he didn’t realize that it would take so long. Play stupid games…

E/2/4, 62B. Did the Engineer thing for seven years until I got smart and became AG.
The office was a hell of a lot warmer than the motorpool in Germany.

Wow. It’s not like becoming a Seabee is really shooting for the moon here. She must be a really screwed up. Most fakes are super high speed, nuclear SEAL test pilots, or something. Not that I’m cutting on Seabees, but I expect that most people who want to be one that bad get to actually be one.
No we Seabee’s do not shoot for the moon, We just move it.
We had a SEAL assigned to the 610 for a bit back in the 70s. This guy was an E2 but he had more chest candy than the entire engineering department combined so I’m thinking there was more to his E2ness than meets the eye…
Being that this was a nuke boat and he was a real SEAL I felt it important to point out that I, for one, have seen a real life nuclear SEAL.
It’s way easier to destroy than it is to create, that’s why most people want to be a Seal and not a Seabee.

To be fair, she says she is an “Equipment Operator at U.S. Navy”. Maybe they hired her post-discharge as a secretary and the equipment she operates is a word processor or a coffee machine.
Oh I’m CERTAIN she “Works Equipment” if you know what I mean.
I’m quite sure that she’s good at operating a stapler, wastebasket and coffee machine, in addition to opening and closing file cabinet drawers and running a broom.

We had 2 guys that were both. one medically retired snapped his leg testing for the PJ AFSC during basic and then one nutjob we had to guard till his ass went and got on a bis for home.
Is it not an option in boot to let it heal and continue on?
I cannot see any of the guys and gals I know in the various branches letting something like a broken leg keep them from serving. (I have former Scouts or Venturers who’ve served in every single branch, BTW.)
It depends on the injury, and also the recruits medical history. Something that would be deemed to be chronic (bad hips, knees, back, ankles)generally mean its not worth keeping someone around. All much the better if they can tie it to a pre-existing condition that existed prior to enlistment. That means the VA doesn’t have to dish out bennies.

If a Ranger can return to active after having one leg blown off… but not everyone can do that.
