Earlier this summer, the folks at Professional Soldier sent us their work on John Frederick Kuhl, a firearms instructor in Colorado and it seems that he hadn’t learned his lesson from our exposure of him. The Denver Post reports that he befriended the local sheriff and told his stories of derring-do and his phony 30-year career.
Somehow the sheriff found out that John had only served 13 weeks and left the Army as E-2 in an ADA unit at Bragg;
Sheriff Shayne Heap doesn’t play;
He told Heap he wanted to retire [from his firearms training business] and work for the sheriff’s office in the county jail, according to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Kuhl in reality had only served in the Army for 13 months as opposed to the 30 years he said he had been in the service, the office said.
Kuhl was arrested on a misdemeanor charge on Monday and posted $1,000 bail. He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine.
He probably won’t do any jail time, but maybe he learned his lesson? By the way, the link to our original post is in the top few of each of the search engines.

I like John Frederick Kuhl. We are fellow Coloradoans after all. That said, even with a competing firearms training school, I had a much more convincing fake story after only 58 days in the Army.
