Jay Kerwin meets Don Shipley

Don and I talked about this clown, Jay “Major” Kerwin, last week. He runs Boot Camp LA. He claimed to be a SEAL and Air Force pararescue. Don told him that he’d post this video if he didn’t come clean, and, well, you guessed it, he didn’t, and so;

He did time in Leavenworth for dealing in steroids, so I guess that counts as pararescue training in his mind.

ADDED 1/26/2014: Jay says that he never claimed to be a SEAL. But certainly, folks thought he was a SEAL, for some reason. For example, Alex Arnold, one of Kerwin’s trainees thought he was a SEAL. At Alex’ website, the paragraph that reads thusly, currently;

Not a Navy SEAL Jay Kerwin

Before last week, read like this;

Navy SEAL Jay Kerwin

The internet is forever, boyo. You can scrub and scrub and scrub, but it all remains.

@100: I used to jump out of perfectly good aircraft with some friends from the Ranger Battalion, but that didn’t make me Airborne qualified, nor did it make me a Ranger. In fact, I was the only one of our group that didn’t have a set of jump wings when we put on our uniforms and I was 1 of 3 in our group of skydiving friends that didn’t have HALO wings, either. I was unique (yeah, that’s the word I’m looking for) in the group.

Seems to me that with Jay trying to promote “proper nutrition and exercise” that the best way to hurt his business now would be to blast his time and reason for being in Leavenworth all over the place.

He’s never going to come clean and admit what a lying shit he is, so hit him where it’ll hurt the most. The types of people he deals with won’t care about Stolen Valor but they will care about a criminal record and steroid use.

“I am Not a Navy Seal or a Full Fledged Pararescue Commando. I apologize for any confusion or misrepresentation on my part.” — Private Major Jay Kerwin, Drill Private for Bootcamp L.A.

This is worded for him to go back to his lies and claims with his expecting this to blow over and be long “forgotten.” Then he could go back to claiming that he was a SEAL and PJ… before as opposed to now. The above disclaimer only covers the present time, not the past.

I sent a PM to his wife, via her photography website, the suggested wording for his disclaimer:

“I am not, nor I ever was, a Navy SEAL. I am not, nor I ever was an Air Force Pararescue Commando. I’m sorry for misleading you with my claims of being a SEAL and a PJ.”

  4. rb325th

Not trying to be a dick..
“I am not now, nor was I ever…” sounds a little better grammatically.

  5. Valkyrie

Sorry I hit submit before I was done.

I want to post the following comment where he posted about the “misunderstanding”.

“Jay by the “bad decision” you mentioned could you be referring to the 6 years you spent in Leavenworth (military prison) for selling steroids to your fellow Soldiers? So that they too may cheat and have the body and healthy lifestyle as you had? Is that still your secret to success today? ”

Where should I post this? Also I’m not sure all my information is correct or maybe someone smarter than myself could tweak the comment.

  6. johca

@105 best check your sources. The military judge sentenced him to a bad conduct discharge, confinement for 24 months, forfeiture of $500 per month for 24 months, and reduction to E–1. The FOIA info is unclear about confinement as a prisoner at Kirtland (Kirtland had a detention Facility at the time, a BAC decision closed it) beyond 166 days served in specific facilities.

  7. johca

opps typo the days are 606 or about 21 months.

  8. johca

BTW his Indoc class (93 – 003 / March 1993) did have 7 graduates, but records also indicated this Indoc class started with 37.

  9. Valkyrie

My bad! That’s why I posted it here before anywhere else. I’ll research better before opening my big trap. Thanks for the heads up. Just to much going on, I’ll hang back in the peanut gallery and let you guys handle things.

  10. Troll Hunter

Attention Internet Troll Leader and Trollees:

Unfortunately, to the overwhelming majority of Americans – including you fine group of proud “Vets?” and “Vets” sympathizers – basic English reading and comprehension skills are unattainable (put your gun and bible down). The scope of the atrocity that is being committed is not fathomable in the infantile deduction process ya’ll (does that help?) have. At this point, I strongly suggest you open a window for http://www.dictionary.com, as it will be necessary to look up 9th grade vocabulary. You will probably hate me as much as your 8th grade English teacher that failed you, twice, by the end of my post. It is only fair; however, that I do plainly write this, as the sole purpose of my replying to the posts is to inject a bit of reality to the simpletons.

The “hard, evidence-based, facts” that are supposed to be the pillars of the argument, are built on misinformation, raw, illogical, nonsensical, and garbage emotions. If you want to pick up a picket sign, rally and protest against some “evil perp” – you musn’t go online to troll; don’t hide behind the cloak of invisibility (the anonymous internet) – go to institutions that matter most to you. E.g., your child’s school, or someplace where Communism (?) is running rampant? You will feel better at the end of the day…your soul will thank you. As I switch to and fro colloquial and proper verbiage, it may be confusing but I trust ya’ll will understand a ¼, a quarter? To which, I will count as a victory.

“The Major” Jay Kerwin, is just that, “Major”. He is a fitness boot camp instructor, that “role plays” with his “trainees”. Now, think of a time when everything you read wasn’t literal, such as in a hyped news story. I will challenge you even further by asking, how much of what you read on the internet is true? Just because it’s magically written on the internet, doesn’t make it true, correct? This argument also works to support and rebuke the allegations against The Major, as well. Since the goal of the Troll Leader, is to place The Major under a pseudo-microscope (because I know he doesn’t know how to use a microscope) and rally the troops (pun intended) at any costs…civilian life, societal benefits, and common good are trumped for the selfish and unrelenting need to feel authoritative. Mr. Troll Leader, please feel free to command your subjects, the Trollees, in your fictitious world of internet harassment, but know you have taken a misstep going on a personal and professional vendetta against The Major. No matter how much personal mud-slinging you do – who’s history isn’t speckled with some dirt? – his “army” will stand by his side and support him fully. As I’m nearing 500 words, I’m getting tired and lazy, so I’m gonna wrap up my last and final thought for this posting. Thank you for reinforcing my love for The Major and L.T.

    Hooo-yah!!!!!!

    1. Hondo

Gee – why doesn’t it surprise me that IP geolocation says “Troll Hunter” is posting from Los Angeles?

Ya don’t suppose it could be the E1 ex-con “Major” himself – or perhaps his “LT” spouse – making a feeble attempt at damage control, do ya?

Nah, probably not. It’s probably just one of the idiot gullible fools he conned his fans coming here to defend him.

News flash, for ya, “Troll Hunter” – the records show yer boy did time in Leavenworth. Think felony time.

You wanna deal with someone like that, suit yourself.

  11. thebesig

    @ 104. Not trying to be a dick…

An ellipsis contains three dots, not two. Also

    “…grammatically sounds better”

    or

    “…sounds better grammatically.”

Either way, the suggested wording, or the one that you suggested, gets the message across. 😀 If we were all sticklers for being grammatically correct, we’d still talk and write like this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWaSiqBBa4U

  12. tm

@110 Ooh, a “troll hunter”. One that thinks everyone who posts to a veterans/military related site is a redneck. Way to bust your left-leaning, open minded Westsider stereotype, bro!

Oh, and since you’re so concerned with how the English language is supposed to work, let’s continue that:
“hard, evidence-based, facts”: Perhaps grammatically correct, but sadly for you, an online dictionary is no substitute for a style guide. What an abominable construction.
“The scope of the atrocity that is being committed is not fathomable in the infantile deduction process ya’ll (does that help?) have.” : “Hey, look everyone, I finally got to use my screenwriter’s writing app’s synonym feature. Look at the diarrhea of a sentence it crapped out!” And “y’all” is “y’all”. What, did your dictionary fail you?
“At this point, I strongly suggest you open a window for http://www.dictionary.com, as it will be necessary to look up 9th grade vocabulary.”: Terrible. First off, dictionary.com is a crap dictionary; I mean, what’s wrong, you’ve never heard of the OED? If you’re going to play the elitist, at least get that right, sheesh. “…open a window…”: Man. Tabs? Heard of tabs? Are you still running IE4 or Netscape 3 on Windows ME? “…as it will be necessary to look up 9th grade vocabulary.” You mean: “…as it will be necessary for you rednecks to look up words longer than 5 letters or 2 syllables.” If you’re going to go full Yankee and insult rednecks, do it correctly.
“– you musn’t go online to troll; don’t hide behind the cloak of invisibility (the anonymous internet) –” Oh, where to start? The shitty em dashes? “mustn’t”? Only female British headmasters use that word. Oh, I know, the absolutely and hilarious hypocrisy of a pseudonymous nitwit calling on the rest of us pseudonyms to reveal ourselves. Considering you’re probably still using a phone the size of a cinder block, let me explain some technology to you. I’ll try to keep it non-technical. On the “Internet”, there is something called a “social network”. That’s like a “website” where you can connect to your friends and family and see what everyone is doing. The biggest such “social network” is a place called “Facebook”. Generally, on “Facebook” people register with their actual names, since the whole point of a social networking site is to connect with friends and family. It would kind of awkward to ask Grandma to friend your account “teabagger38371”. So, all of the actually useful commentary (as opposed to the usual banal motivational crap) on bootcampla’s facebook page has been done mainly by people using their real names.

As bad as a wannabe elitist grammar nazi as you are, you are even worse with the whole “reality” thing.

Fact: Jay Kerwin’s online presence and his many documented media appearances have in the recent past proclaimed his military credentials as being an Air Force Pararescueman (PJ).
Fact: Some of these promotional materials have also included his being a Navy SEAL (which is how he came to Senior Chief Shipley’s attention in the first place).
Fact: Mr. Kerwin has never completed the Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training required to be a Navy SEAL. He was, in fact, never in the Navy (generally a prerequisite for going to BUD/S).
Fact: While Mr. Kerwin may have completed some of the courses in the grueling “Pipeline” to become a PJ, he did not become said PJ. This is like running a marathon but quitting after mile 25. You did not finish the marathon (which is 26.2 miles).
Fact: Unlike “almost finishing a marathon”, there is no such thing as “almost a PJ”. You either are, or are not.
Fact: Mr. Kerwin is, under no circumstances, a PJ.

These facts are established on the basis of Mr. Kerwin’s DD-214 form which can be requested via a Freedom of Information Act request to the National Personnel Records Center. These are not hazy invectives thrown from some dark corner of 4chan.

I know, you’re sitting there sipping your latte (of course, since you’re too ignorant to order a proper pour over coffee), asking, “so what’s the big deal?”

The “big deal” is two fold:
For veterans and current servicemembers (active, reserves, national guard) the big deal is that elite units like Air Force Pararescue are respected not only because of the rigorous standards of selection and training, but of the tremendous sacrifice made by the men in those units. These units’ reputations have been literally forged in blood.
To have someone who did not meet the standards attempt to trade on this reputation is frankly tantamount to robbing graves at Arlington. When phonies steal valor, they steal it from our war dead.

For us civilians, the big deal is that phonies will use the reputation of elite military units in order to defraud us. Sometimes in small ways, such as “it’s good for business to tell people I was a badass in the military” or the ever popular, “hey baby, I’m a Navy SEAL, let’s bang”. Sometimes in much bigger ways: Spousal and child abuse blamed on non-existent PTSD and “combat stress”.

So let me ask this of you and all of your bootcampla friends: What was your reaction when you first read or heard Mr. Kerwin’s background as an member of an elite military unit? Can you honestly tell yourself that it had no bearing on your decision to sign up?

  13. Mustang2LT

@110 – Hey stupid, first off, many if not most of the posters here have at least one college degree under their belts so don’t think that you’re dealing with a bunch of rubes. Second, for someone claiming grammatical expertise and belittling the intelligence of my fellow vets and well-wishers, you’ve made some idiotic mistakes yourself. For example, you used “rebuke” when you clearly should have used “rebut”. I would continue, but why bother. Someone who would defend this shitbag phony PJ/SEAL isn’t worthy of my time. Why engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man? However, thanks for playing and since you attempted to play stupid games, here are your stupid prizes:

    Eat a dick!
    Essen sie einen schwantz!

    Come verga, guey!

Begone and don’t come back or else we won’t be so forgiving next time!

  14. Mustang2LT

A little tri-lingual profanity beatdown for that asinine interloper. I was going to break out the Russian and Arabic, but I may have need of those later. 😉

Troll Hunter’s comment likely will change everything. Jonn, I hear, has taken it to heart and is contemplating folding the blog. I and others are considering retracting all of our comments and repairing to a cave somewhere in the Appalachians. If we do, it will be for the express purpose of studying both philosophy and Strunk and White’s opus. On the other hand, Jonn may elect to continue his blog so that, at the very least, we can lay down our beer cans and Bibles just long enough to type a heartfelt FUCK YOU to clowns such Troll Hunter. Yeah, I’m going with that other hand.

  16. rb325th

@110 So it is now sock puppet time…
Hey dipshit, your hero (or is it you yourself Jay, trying to salvage some of your lost manhood?)is a liar and convicted felon. He lied about his background in order to financially benefit himself. That my friend is the Stolen Valor Act in a nutshell right there.
I wonder what else Mr. Kerwin has lied about. What lies did he tell his wife? I am sure he was not entirely truthful with her either. Liars are good at lying, once they start there is no end to it for tem. Especially when they are benefiting from it.
I think the Television Station he loves to display so prominently as him being “featured on” feel about the misrepresentations he made to them about himself that they put on the air? All those other media outlets and famous people he lied to. I wonder how they will feel when they find out he sold them a bogus bill of goods.
Thing is, he is obviously in shape and could have marketed hi workout based on his real life. Though I guess the “Ft Leavenworth Military Correctional Facility Prisoner Workout” would not sell as well as a “Boot camp” program with a former Navy SEAL and Air Force Pararescueman did.
I mean think of the workout names he could have used though… the” shower room deep knee bends” or the “Bubbas coming, grab your ankles” stretching regimen.

  17. rb325th

@111 next time, maybe I will be a dick.

  18. Ex-PH2

    Oh, goody, a real-deal, self-styled ‘Troll Hunter’, who is actually Jay-Jay K.

Note that I used the same U/LC as the twit who posted that overbearing, self-important attempt at denigratory remarks toward people who dislike phonies.

Tell us, Jay, did you spend the entire afternoon composing that bit of special discourse? A LOT of the people who post in this blog, as well as others, not only have undergraduate degrees, but also have post-graduate and advanced degrees.

You see, Jay, being in the military is something almost all of us have done. Some people who post here have never served, but no matter. They are still welcome as guests.

However, there are some things you missed or ignored in your rather rambling, meandering, self-involved attempt to pat yourself on the back while taking a slap at us, and among them is, as follows:

    your failure to admit to all here present that you are a blatant liar about your service;

    that you were, in fact, convicted of dealing drugs while IN the military;

    that you in fact spent time in a Federal prison for those charges of dealing drugs in the military;

and last, but certainly not least, that you have lied about being a NAVY SEAL, and that you were dumped from Pararescue training.

And lest I forget, walking around with your hands on your hips, like some teenybopper girl pretending to be a runway model like Kate Moss, is SO pretentious, and just makes you look like a girl.

    Smooches, Jay. <3

  19. Green Thumb

    @110.

    Turd.

  20. Ex-PH2

Oh, crap, I left out the most important part.

For the record, Jay Kerwin, you’re not a major.

You are a convict. You committed a major felony and got caught.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, toots.

  21. johca

@120. He’s no longer incarcerated (imprisoned/a prisoner), so his status is former convict as he did the time for the crime or crimes.

  22. Yeah, there’s still an unpublished video of Don’s conversation with Jay. Don was going easy on Jay, because you know, Don admired him a little bit for building a successful business after getting out of Leavenworth. We talked about it last week. But Jay is squandering whatever goodwill Don felt by being a total fartknocker.

  23. Mustang2LT

@121 – Fine, let’s split hairs. In that case, he is still a convicted felon (note the past tense and the emphasis on the crime in question being a felony?). Besides, that shit is like Herpes, it follows you for life. Or we could just call him what he was, is, and forever shall be………..SHITBAG!

  24. Green Thumb

The Major seems like the type of twink that likes a little juice in his caboose.

  25. ArmyATC

@110 Troll Hunter, Troll Hunter, Troll Hunter. Where did you learn English? While I greatly appreciate your attempt at instructing us on the finer points of our native tongue, I must point out that your post was filled with grammatical errors. Yes, we are not perfect and none have ever claimed to be. But we know a real troll and a hypocrite when we see one. Yes, that would be you Troll Hunter.

May I also point out that you missed the point entirely (except perhaps, the one on top of your head), which surprises no one here. Jay “Major” Kerwin is a phony and a fraud. He’s built a business based, at least in part, on a military resume that he doesn’t have. That would be fraud and, if I read the law correctly, is a violation of the Stolen Valor Act.

So please, Troll Hunter, go suck “The Majors” tiny balls as it appears you want to do, and leave adult conversation to the adults. In other words, fuck off and die, you silly ass.

I hope that this post is comprehensible to you. I could write in the same gibberish that you did, but attempting to drop my IQ that low gives me a headache.

  26. Mustang2LT

Hey Green Thumb. ….your last comment reminded me of this old Nike commercial. Last 5 seconds seem apropos.

I,too, am always gratified when an ex-con like Major E-1 8th Grade Wrestling Champ here makes good. I hope I’m not being too harsh with that ex-con tag but, hey, ‘former inmate at a Federal penitentiary’ just takes too many words.

  28. Joe Williams

Post number 110,anyone else catch the Fuedian Slip of hate Kerwin(me) in the sentence? This Redneck has done some things you have not. I have a Honorable discharge. I have a VA pension and outrank you. I have never been in prison . I can vote. If I choose to own a firearm I can. I do not have to lie about my past.Tell me again how bad it is to be a Southern Redneck? Joe

  29. Mustang2LT

Although it may be even more “wordy”, perhaps refering to this fuckstick as a “Distinguished Graduate of the Kansas Gravel Academy” would be less hurtful to some folks’ feelings. Not that I care……a shitb ag is a shitbag.

  30. johca

@ 123 accuracy is best as it provides certainty, or when splitting hairs, effectiveness and efficiency.

@ 110 Troll Hunter: Unfortunately for Jay Kerwin is over the years he has allowed newspapers, magazines and whatever portray his military service generically as “Kerwin was in special operations for four years” [ABC News-27 Dec 2011] and “, bases his program of military-style drills, circuit training, obstacle courses and more on his own Navy SEAL tryouts [The Hollywood Reporter, January 2013, p 70].

The unfortunate casual is his military service as a trainee from 13 October 1992 to his 15 June 1994 (about 21 months) court-martial conviction date included several months not being in training once he arrived at Kirtland AFB August 1993, he only has about ten or twelve month in training as a student. The remaining majority of his military service obligation (about 31 months) until his 21 December 1997 discharge was in awaiting court-martial not in training casual status or prisoner status.

The only way writers of articles obtains clue of military service being pertinent is from the individual. Getting impression service involved participating in special operations, or involved pararescue training or involved anything specific would require the individual being written about to suggest it in some way.

There is some significant non-disclosure and embellishment involving purposeful deceit by Kerwin to fool people about the quality, character, and usefulness of his military training, military experience, and his military accomplishments.

  31. A Proud Infidel

OOH, did Jay “Richard Simmons” Kerwin already “Wickre” this thread? (FTR, despite my intense dislike for Richard Simmons,, I have FAR more respect for him(?) than I do for Jay Kerwin, Richard Simmons has never engaged in SV) Kerwin acts like he’s impersonating Simmons in the part of the video of him I saw, and if comment #110 is a premonition of things to come, SHIT, he could make Paul K. Wickre look tame!

  32. OldSargeUSAR

HEY Jay “The Richard Simmons wannabe” Kerwin, you have pissed THE WRONG PEOPLE off, and I have ZERO sympathy for you. Yes, I too, am a real-life Vet, I’ve been there, done that, and have been in harm’s way. Let’s see, YOU went through Boot Camp, got caught dealing ” ‘Roids”, and you did hard time, during which the biggest threat you dealt with was a “Meat Missile Barrage” in the showers!!

  36. thebesig

Did Private Major Jay Kerwin, Drill Private for Bootcamp L.A., hire a Paul K. Wickre to defend him here? 😮

As for Private Major Jay Kerwin’s Paul K. Wickre White Knight (Troll Hunter).

You talk about facts, then insinuate that our facts are based on deception. Yet, here you are making assumptions about the people on this thread. Many of us have college degrees, to include graduate degrees. There are veterans that are working on their doctorate degrees.

But, don’t let our posts here fool you. Using big words don’t make you “smarter” or “more intelligent” than the rest of us. It makes you pompous and arrogant.

Here, let me give you a clue on something. We don’t believe in flaunting our degrees, or academic status, by speaking with large academic words. We believe in communicating with the common person, the normal people. We communicate to inform, not to impress or win some kind of literature prize. We definitely don’t tailor our language to speak the same way elitists communicate with each other… which is what your post makes you come across as.

As for hard evidence? We have the Freedom of Information Request response, based on Private Major Jay Kerwin’s record. That’s not deception.

Don’t lecture us about “not hiding behind the cloak of invisibility.” Unlike you, many of us actually made it out to the operational part of the military. Many of us combat deployed. You’re barking up the wrong tree if you want to give us that kind of lecture.

So you want to talk about “role playing”? How about we talk about Private Major Jay Kerwin, Drill Private for Bootcamp L.A., role playing the part of a private, or a Fort Leavenworth Jail Cell veteran? No, he’s not a major. If this is a “role play,” then it’s being done based on a movie, not the real thing.

Major Payne was funny, wasn’t it? 😀

So, the lead troll “doesn’t” know how to use a microscope? You’re basing that on what? I wouldn’t be surprised if you said that because you don’t know how to use your micro-penis, and you want this “misery loves company” camaraderie thing going.

You’re missing the point behind what we’re doing here.

Private Major Jay Kerwin, Drill Private for Bootcamp L.A., stole valor. He claimed having a SEAL and PJ background, and further insinuated that his experiences in these areas contributed to the program that he created for Bootcamp L.A. He’s using that as a unique selling point for his services.

He’s claiming to be something that he’s not, and he’s leveraging that to make more money. That doesn’t sit well with the veteran community.

Your feeble attempts to get us to stop are funny. You won’t stop us from holding Private Major Jay Kerwin, Drill Private for Bootcamp L.A., accountable for stealing valor.

    Bedwetter asshat.

  40. Ex-PH2

I predict that NotaMajor Jay-Jay ‘well smack my ass’ Kerwin will hide behind his wifey’s biker shorts, if he hasn’t already. I’ll bet he wears LuLuLemon see-through yoga pants, too.

  41. Ex-PH2

And, by the way, Jay-Jay, trolly is spelled t-r-o-l-l-y, not trollee. Plese acquire a hard copy of a spelling dictionary. If you must know, Jay-Jay, your pseudo-intellectual attempt at belittling those who post on TAH marks you again for what you are: a compleat phony.

That’s ‘compleat’, as opposed to ‘complete. Look it up, you dickless wonder.

I have no issues with anyone who has made mistakes and does things to correct seriously bad behavior. Someone who does that and asks for no quarter is worth supporting.

But when you lie about it, try to cover for yourself behind a phony front titled ‘Troll Hunter’, all you’ve done is make an ass of yourself in a public forum. I do hope you enjoy your public ass whippin’.

I will not even touch the “steroid-free” bodybuilding, martial arts and other claims.

“C’mon, Jay. “I am Not a Navy Seal or a Full Fledged Pararescue Commando. I apologize for any confusion or misrepresentation on my part.” What a weak ass apology. If you were truly contrite you would have posted something like, “I am not nor have I ever been a Navy SEAL or Air Force Pararescueman. I apologize for deceiving everyone, especially those good and proud men who actually earned the titles.” It should be posted here and on every site you have ever lied about your service. All you’re proving now, Jay, is that you are a “Major” dick, a “Major” clown, and a “Major” asshat. Fess up, Jay. Do the right thing.”
