Jamie Brock stops mass shooting

Jamie Brock

According to Reuters, 30-year veteran volunteer firefighter Jamie Brock tackled and restrained a 14-year-old who had gone on a murder spree after killing his 47-year-old father, driving the family vehicle to a school yard and shooting two children and a teacher in Charleston, South Carolina.

After the teenager began shooting, volunteer firefighter Jamie Brock pinned him down while staff led children to safety inside the building, Anderson County emergency services director Taylor Jones told a news conference.

Brock, a 30-year veteran of the Townville Volunteer Fire Department, was hailed on social media as a hero and credited with preventing another school massacre.

“(He) was there in the hot scene and risked his life to mitigate this incident,” Jones said. “He just used enough force to take him to the ground.”

There’s no word on how the 14-year-old got his hands on a firearm, but I suspect that his father didn’t properly secure his guns, the same way he didn’t properly secure his car.

The teacher and one of the students who were injured have been treated and released by the hospital. The other student remains in critical condition with a gun shot wound to his leg.

When I was 14, it would have been a simple matter for me to get hold of numerous guns and the keys to one of my parents’ cars. But the difference between then and now is that I would have never considered doing something like this.

Amen brother! And during hunting season, there were enough shotguns and deer rifles in the parking lot to take on a small army. That includes students and teachers. We settled fights the old fashioned way, behind the gym. Nobody would’ve ever considered going for a gun.

My high school went one step further, if one of the teachers saw a fight on school property the participants ended up in the gym, wearing the heaviest boxing gloves the school had, probably 20oz gloves.

Hate to be a stickler John, but it was in Townvville, SC. Right outside of Greenville, SC.

And of course BZ to Mr Brock! There’s no telling how many lives you saved.

  11. Another attack in a “gun free zone”. If he would have been able to close the distance at 1100 fps, maybe he could have prevented some of the injuries.

    Hoooooah !!!!!!!

Strong work! Going unarmed against an armed shithead takes serious balls. I can only hope and pray that I would follow his example if I ever find myself in his shoes.
