Don Shipley sends us his latest bust, Robert “Robbie” Robinson;
I was just wondering why no one at VFW Post 1966 has questioned Robbie “Robert” Robinson’s military credentials? I just spoke to him at 954-321-3463 after I was sent the (attached) pictures and he claimed his military records were “sealed” from the classified nature of his work in Vietnam as a Navy SEAL. He also claimed he changed his name which is NOT true when I began questioning why his name wasn’t listed in the SEAL Database. And he could not give me a training class number first saying it was Class 48 and then changing it to Class 4.
Not knowing your SEAL Training Class number is like not knowing your wife’s name…
It’s very clear he was never a Navy SEAL because I’m a retired SEAL and I quickly checked and found NO LISTING of him ever being a SEAL. Claiming his records are classified is complete and total B%$%#$*T. And he finally admitted he was a fraud to me after I pulled the SEAL Rug out from under him… I have the conversation recorded if he claims otherwise to the VFW leadership that I’d be happy to send.
That SEAL Trident is worn on the wrong side of his uniform.
His awards are ALL JACKED UP and I’m surprised that at a Memorial Day celebration there wasn’t a single Purple Heart recipient present that would have asked him “Why do you have a Combat V Device on the Purple Heart you’re wearing?” That’s NOT correct…
Or asked, since you have a Silver and Bronze Star “where is your Combat Action Ribbon?”
Or asked, a Bronze Star awarded for combat, no matter what branch of service, is awarded with a “Combat V Device.” If awarded meritoriously (non combat) it contains no “V.” All subsequent awards are a Gold Star in lieu of second, third award, etc. Why does yours have a small bronze star on it? That is NOT correct.
Or asked, why is the very senior Joint Service Commendation Medal behind the lowly Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation Ribbon and so far out of whack in the US Military Order of Awards Precedence?
A close look at the Silver Star he’s wearing shows a distinct “hole” in the center of it meaning at some point he was claiming “two” of them and the device was removed or fell off…
Brian K Murphy was just removed as Post Commander of Post 8182 in Florida for his outrageous Navy SEAL claims I exposed… What’s in the water in Florida that you VFW guys don’t question a members credentials or claims? How do they get away with this for so long?
At this point not a single word that comes from Robinson’s mouth can be believed. 40+ years of service (he claims) and he wears 10 “RED” and not Gold Hash Marks as a Master Chief? Between that and the awards that looks like he put on in the dark I have my doubts he ever served a single day in the military. It wouldn’t EVEN be close to the first time I discovered that’s been the case…
Robinson on your Facebook page and in this video at the 3-minute mark of your Memorial Day celebration is SHAMEFUL.

And here’s his latest video from Memorial Day, 9 minutes of “Being Shipley”;

Reading that post I was worried Don was going to explode out of my screen and chew my throat out. Senior NCOs/CPOs can still communicate that rage, even in print.
I’ve never understood why the grifters and phonies put so much effort into their lie and don’t do something as simple as brushing up on the uniform reg’s… easily found online. Rhetorical. Nevermind.
FWIW, it looks like he’s piecing together Navy and Coastie uniform items. Although, I’m out of the uniform loop. I hear all the youngins wear khaki now. Maybe he is legit, as often as big Navy changes uniform regs, he might actually be ahead of the curve.
TSO’s beard and Don Shipley’s hair both in the same day. We need to spread out the hair awesomeness otherwise we might accidentally divide by zero and destroy the world.
The douchebaggery of the phonies is balanced out by the awesomeness of Sr Chief. His hair tips the scales in his favor.
lol @ V on purple heart.
How the hell would someone have 3 Vietnam service awards with only one sea service ribbon?
Somebody should have knocked old balls out in the parking lot.
It’d be easier to list what’s right with that uniform than what’s jacked up with it. Ho-leeeee shit!
Well, the 10 red hashmarks caught my eye right away. 40 long years, and no gold chief’s crow? No gold hash marks? Ding! Baloney call, right there.
Ah, but wait, it gets better.
That is not a chief’s uniform. Not when I was in, and not now. Never has been, never will be. WAVES wore the navy blue wool serge service dress blues skirt and jacket with gold buttons, until 1975, when it was changed to the current blue-black with pewter buttons service dress uniform. I think the undress uniform is the khaki shirt and blue-black skirt.
Chief petty officers wore the same blue-black blues that officers wore, back when I was in and they still do now. That screams FAKE! FAKE! FAKE! all the way around, never mind the ribbons.
I don’t think that’s even a Navy uniform because there are two breast pockets, which do not appear on any chief’s uniform jacket.
I guess I’d better give Shipley a call and tell him he missed that part. I hope he won’t kill me. But maybe he didn’t see these pictures.
You cracked me up, Don. Thanks, needed this. Don’t know how you do it but if it was me, I’d be batcrap crazy by now. lol. Take care bro.
Oh, yeah, before I forget, on the hat and the collar, those are not Navy CPO insignia.
Can I go pound him?
Wait, this fuck is a member of or is affiliated with the VFW?
PH2–it resembles a CG CPO uniform. But even then it’s totally soup sandwich.
No way in hell he did 40 years between 59-99. 40 DAYS, maybe, before he got shitcanned, but that might even be pushing it.
Ex-PH, thats definitely a USCG issue jacket…. Its a wonder he isn’t trying to pass himself off as a USCG rear admiral. lol! Oh wait, bet he knows USCG would arrest his ass, lmao!
Street–IIRC, there was a former USCG warrant officer who got nailed trying to claim he was a SEAL. I don’t see why this clown shouldn’t meet the same fate.
Gotta say it:
Trading Places: “What unit were you in?”

Every time I see a boneheaded buddy fucker wearing shit he didn’t earn, I. just. cringe.
I just love seeing that UN Service Medal (Korea) without the corresponding US Korean Service Medal. Kinda hard to pull that one off (not impossible, but extremely unusual). Plus the fact that he’s wearing the UN Service Medal(Korea) higher in precedence than the US SWASM.
Is he wearing a big “I’m a fake” sign taped to his back, too?
Not aware of that one, Sparky. When I enlarged the picture, I recognized the button art work, I’d seen it before on a friends jacket who was a SCPO stationed out of Beaumont. Something else, if this asshat claims 40yrs, it could be possible that he does if he is USCG-AUX. Good catch on that UN medal Hondo. I wouldn’t have known what it is, never seen one.
@7
Ex – How did that phone call to Don Shipley go?
Just askin’…
Unable to view the roster, but if he is, here is FT Lauderdale USCG-Aux. Something tells me, USCG FTL will be backtracking to this..lmao!
Nice to see the Confused Group getting some love.
Wanna be DCCM according to his crow, although it looks like he took a DCC crow and sewed a couple red stars above it, instead of one integral piece like it normally would be. And I’m trying to figure out why they’re red. Chiefs in the CG automatically convert to gold when they put on their anchors. It’s not dependent on good conduct time like the Navy.
Speaking of which, a Master Chief with no Good Conduct Medal? Bull shit.
And while the CG did send about a half dozen guys to BUD/S, they did it in 2009-11. Well after Dingus supposedly got out.
Actually…SCPO/MCPO stars on both Navy and CG uniforms are silver.
I am waiting for the VFW post to reply to a post I made on their facebook page. Wonder how they will explain this one away? Seems the old phonies get defended by their home posts “because they have done so much for the post…..”
True, NHSparky. I was referring more to the red stripes become gold. Not as clear as I intended it to be.
Yet another old, gnarly turd.
Seems to be a theme these days.
There are old posers…and there are bold posers…but there are no old, bold posers
Uh…scratch that
And another “aw, shit” for our boy the master queef:
Those stars on his “crow”? Not only are they the wrong color, but the points should be pointing DOWN, not UP.
Jesus, it’s like they’re not even trying anymore. Just slap an Air Cav patch on that fucker and call it GTG.
“Just slap an Air Cav patch on that fucker and call it GTG.”
Not so fast.
We haven’t yet seen what he’s got on his back. There may already be one there.
If you give him a second one, he’ll be unsat.
This guy is going on my face book Posers Album.
So based on what Senior Chief Shipley wrote, and Scott Funk posted on Facebook, this guy claimed both “It’s Classified”, and that he wore items to “honor” someone else. Geesh, it’s like these guys have a convention so they can all come up with the same excuses.
One small detail. No one with more than one row of ribbons would display them with each row on separate racks. They would invest in a one piece rack. They don’t cost that much and surely a retired E-9 could afford the few dollars extra that would cost.
Good Lord, another phony SEAL like PHILLIP DALE MONKRESS?
Where on Earth are all these PHILLIP DALE MONKRESS types coming from?
Robbie was an inspiration to me, you are all jealous
These dudes should look up their crap if they’re going to fake it. My uncle retired at 20 years in the Navy with red chevrons/service stripes because he got into fights and lost/regained rank a lot back when that wasn’t a career ender.
Another “classified” SEAL…in a screwed-up USCG uniform, no less…(sigh)
I get so damn sick and tired of these sh*theads. Maybe he’ll take a running leap through a rolling doughnut……
When Chuck Norris looks under the bed and in the closet, he’s hoping Don Shipley isn’t lying in wait for him ….
As a former Coast Guardsman, all I can say is “Wow”. This has to be Soup Sandwich’s long lost grandpaw.
@22 NH Sparky, The Stars are also part of the Crow and not placed on the sleeve all by themselves. That is a Chiefs Crow and he later added the stars instead of updating the crow.
@1 Andy we have a saying, “Watch out for even number Chiefs”. CPO’s a lot of them are green and the MCPO’s are supposed to be like Dad. Firm and understanding. Us “Seniors” are the death squad, we come to claim you life and souls.
I saw that too, Senior Chief. There’s just so much wrong with his shit it can’t all be pointed out in one post.
As I heard it, “Never trust a goat with an odd number of stars!”
Yeah, I’m guessing that there is about zip-point-shit chance of ANYONE doing 40 years these days, let alone being such a shitbag they couldn’t keep their fucking nose clean for four years. My first COB retired with 42 years in, but that was 1989, and now? Yeah, you could count the number of 30-plus Master Chiefs on one hand and maybe have fingers left over.
His sewn-on Master Chief stars should be pointed down.
Other than that, he’s legit. /sarc
Didn’t know Coasties could be SEALS… or am I just being too Army?
There are in fact a couple of Coastie SEALs, or have at least gone through BUD/S. It was a trial program around 2007-09, IIRC.
They’re not doing it anymore.
BUD/S-trained coasties…hmmm…hope they’re putting the coastie SEALs to proper use, like secretly planting charges on druggie boats in Cartegena Harbor and blowing them up. Nah, this is the U.S. Government, after all; the coastie SEALs are probably assigned to buoy maintenance duty in Gilligan’s Marina…
Good morning. I am the FaceBook admin for VFW Post 1966 and since I am most comfortable with this medium I am writing to you today on behalf of the Post Commander and Officers. We would like to thank ‘Frankie Cee’ for alerting us to this horrendous fraud. I PERSONALLY would like to say that a call to the Post Commander would have been a better option. PERSONALLY, your post made it appear as though we were complicit in some way. We were all shocked at the turn of events and would not ever condone such behavior. I read the post late Sunday night and sent the information to 2 officers. The matter was immediately dealt with on Monday. VFW Post Officers and leadership challenged Robbie Robinson about this issue and he was given 2 options: A hearing or resignation. He opted to resign. The Post Commander said “We cleaned our House up and there will be further scrutiny over this issue.” We will be meeting at the Florida VFW Convention this weekend and will provide a response on our FaceBook page. Thank you Don Shipley, for your service and for uncovering these people who dare to make these fraudulent claims. We have the utmost respect for our Navy Seals.
Post 1966 VS: thanks for doing the right thing here.
For what it’s worth: some posts/organizations won’t clean up their act until they’re publicly exposed, and drag their feet even then. For a very public example, see the articles here about James Ferris, former President of the KWVA.

Ferris was protected by KDVA leadership until he finally “resigned for personal reasons” (yeah, right). More likely public exposure forced their hand.
It’s sad, but that’s the way some organizations are. Thanks for not being one of “those groups”.
#45: A pat on the back for your VFW post’s quick action on this poser fraud; other veterans’ organizations/posts have dragged their feet on similar matters or pooh-poohed the whole thing, so your group should be commended for your quick action.
Although I am eligible to join the VFW, I have not yet done so; your quick action on this matter reflects well on the integrity of your organization, so I may yet join your group in the future…
@#45
I don’t think anyone said your post specifically was complicit..but those of us that have been members of both the VFW and American Legion know this stuff is rampant and people in both organizations are generally pretty hesitant to do anything about it.
Last time I PCSd I transferred to a local VFW post. The Post Commander at the time was only 10 years older than me and was constantly telling stories of Vietnam. He had been post commander on and off for 12 years and was by all measure a very successful post commander.
I generally blew most of his asinine stories off until one day he made the comment “You kids don’t know how to be hard..they need to get a bunch of us Vietnam Vets together, send us over, and let us end this BS”
That did it. I asked to see his DD-214….none on file at the post. So I FOIA’d him…and guess what…he joined in 1977 and never made it out of basic.
The board finally got him to resign…and at least half the post was pissed off AT ME. And I mean violently pissed off. To the point I left that post and the VFW all together.
This VFW Life Member is glad that Post 1966 stepped up and did the right thing. Whether or not they would have without some national attention will remain unknown, but our experience in this community has been that too often they do not.
So, chalk this up to another instance of stolen valor causing harm, at least angst, among otherwise honorable veterans. If not this post, then the next one or the one after that that would indeed have taken corrective action had they only known.
Perhaps there is a lesson in all of this that every member be asked to confirm their military service occasionally, or at least prior to taking a post office?
@ 45 Like the others had said, kudos to VFW Post 1966 for quickly addressing this problem.
However, the line about people taking it to the Post to keep it hush hush isn’t going to fly.
Though I don’t speak for Jonn Lilyea my thoughts are that this blog’s mission goes a bit further than expose frauds.
If not downright supporters of these posers there are several people, media types, and organizations that have been enablers.
These people and organization’s reputations have been dragged through the mud by being associated with Valor Thieves.
They went along with the tall tales either by connivance,(playing along with the fraud) Ignorance ( the guy had them completely fooled) or apathy ( They just didn’t care)
The VFW posts seem to fall more under the “Apathetic” list.
You have a post full of military vets who should smell a rat a mile off and they simply turn the other way because the poser adds to the numbers or does “good work” for the post.
You want to keep VFW Post 1966 out of the muck? Change the way you do business. Require bonafide DD214s, Make members sign a form letting them know that stolen valor is grounds for dismissal. Be proactive, not reactive,
